@MudandMoet didn't have anything like that 20 years ago when I pushed out an 8 pound 11er!!

I found cool salt water on pads and pouring water over when weeing soothed the stinging!

Can't help but think at £18.50 it's just another thing for us to spend our money on

Just caught up on the thread and feel abit opposite to most on here, I'm only 33 weeks but rather then feel bombarded by anyone I feel abit forgotten about. I haven't seen my sister's in ages and they haven't asked about how the pregnancy is going or anything for a very long time, today was my official last day at work and apart from two ladies saying make sure to visit us with the baby, no one batted an eyelid that I was leaving, no one else has really bothered to ask me about anything either. Sorry I always feel like I'm just coming on here to moan 🤦🏻 I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself as I have thrush (again) and since having a 24hr sickness bug a couple of weeks ago I just don't feel like myself, I can't put my finger on it but I just feel so crappy and awful all the time 😔

Sorry you’re feeling like this, sending you so much love and big old hug through the screen 🌻❤️ moans and groans absolutely welcomed here, get it all off your chest. Don’t take the actions of others personally, I’m sure you’re a bloody gem 💎 Sometimes people get so absorbed in their own lives and goings on that they forget about people around them ❤️

I might purchase a sitz insert and try the grandmother method by bathing my Minnie in camomile tea post partum.

PinkWatermelon88 · 23/07/2024 07:26

I got the sitz for baby #1 but was told by the MW that it can dissolve stitches?! Didn’t use it just incase but don’t know how true that is! Fab for a foot spray after along day tho :D

WinsandSam · 23/07/2024 07:38

@Decaffe so I had something recently where a child at a party had chicken pox. I decided against going just in case! I've had it so really can't get it again but wanted to be 100%. However my partner went and I was happy with that.
I've also got a couple of mums at work whose children had children pox and felt fine with that. I was only worried about direct contact.

Maybe keep your distance? Or if you do feel uncomfortable then rearrange. It's such a hard one as I read risks to baby are higher end of pregnancy

cd24x · 23/07/2024 09:18

@Decaffe DS had chicken pox about 6 weeks ago. No issues here other than a grumpy and irritable toddler. I think the biggest risk with chicken pox exposure in pregnancy is if the pregnant woman hasn't had chicken pox before. I had it as a kid so wasn't too worried, plus I couldn't really not parent for a couple of weeks! Hopefully the risk to you will be minimal if you do decide to have tradesman over. I'm quite impressed he thought to tell you!

longingtobe23 · 23/07/2024 12:20

Has anyone with LL placenta had theirs move drastically from 30 to 32 weeks I go in alone tomorrow for a scan and internal and nerves are really getting to me 😳

Honeyandsunshine1 · 23/07/2024 15:04

Guys, raspberry Leaf tea… do I start it now? Am I too late? I’ve never tried it. I’ve seen people “work their way up” to 2 cups a day from 32 weeks but I’ve not done that so can I just go in with 1 cup a day now? Please share experiences 🌻

tryingfortwo2 · 23/07/2024 15:15

@Honeyandsunshine1 I would say if you’re over 32 weeks, you don’t need to worry about building up.. I don’t think it’s really that potent. I’m not even sure I believe it all but here I am drinking it anyway 😂 it’s supposed to help tone your uterus and therefore shorten labour.. I drank it with my first and laboured in just 7 hours but I’m not sure how much of that was the tea vs the hormone drip I was on haha.

Fridge is stocked with medjool dates too! I love them dipped in peanut butter so that’s much less of a chore than the tea…

tryingfortwo2 · 23/07/2024 15:17

@Honeyandsunshine1 I should also add I was in a very close knit group of 8 NCT mums at the time, and we all did the dates, tea, ball bouncing, kerb walking etc together and no two outcomes were the same 😂

MudandMoet · 23/07/2024 16:36

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow...wtaf! Going to start pereneum massage this week and the raspberry tea. Is there a specific brand (assuming twinnings?) and can it be got in the supermarkets or do I need to order online? Never heard of the dates until this thread so looks like I need some of those too?!

cd24x · 23/07/2024 16:40

@MudandMoet make sure it's raspberry leaf tea, not just raspberry. Holland and Barrett or Amazon is probably your best bet for it. I don't think I've ever seen it in a normal supermarket.

HRP1990 · 23/07/2024 16:44

I’ve been drinking this one for the past few days https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/hottea-mama-the-final-push-raspberry-leaf-tea-60061347?skuid=061347&utmcampaign=shopping&utmmedium=cpc&utmsource=google&utmcampaign=pmax&&gadsource=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD96OoL2KWrVQvdUjqF4AUjptFUuN&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm6Duu8G3hwMVrYBQBh2A1gxPEAQYASABEgIWmPDBwE&gclsrc=aw.ds it’s buy one get one half price at the moment. There’s only 14 bags, but each one can be used twice. (I’ve never double dipped a tea bag before lol but it tastes fine second time round.) Its got peppermint in it and actually tastes really nice! It says you can make it iced too which I might try with honey and lemon!

MudandMoet · 23/07/2024 16:56

Thanks girls! 🫶🏻

rupertbear91 · 23/07/2024 18:01

I just ordered some raspberry leaf tea from Amazon to start at the weekend I read brewing a big jug cold and mixing with cranberry juice is nice so going to give it a try.... hoping it's as refreshing as it sounds!

Having a nightmare with passing out again at the minute. Discovered it's baby's posture so basically if I sit upright he cuts off the blood circulation to my brain which is proving very tricky as it can happen driving now too so feel pretty isolated and not able to do much till he decides to shift 😔

Yeah the dates had me gagging the first time I took them 👽😅 I finally got used to them after a week and then, after a further 9 days, my waters went at 38 weeks (8am they let loose and by 3:40am I’d given birth) so I’m hoping the tea and the dates combine and create some sort of, mega birth package!? 😂😂 Your story gives me hope

Oh feck. Just read this 🤣🤣🤣 well, I’m gunna start this tea now and see how we go. Will start dates next week at 35 weeks. She’s a big gal so having her before 40 weeks would be ideal, but we have our “secret wedding reception” in just under 2 weeks so preferably want her to hold off until then hahaa

this is all I could find in H&B today (aside from Hot Tea Mama as well that @HRP1990 jas recommended above but I didn’t want the peppermint aspect of it) do you reckon this one is any good though? My only concern is that it doesn’t look like it’s fully raspberry leaf, 27% seems quite low or am I looking too much into it? lol

@Honeyandsunshine1 The one I bought is 40% so slightly higher but I can’t imagine it matters too much! Maybe just drink an extra cup 😂

RachSmile · 23/07/2024 19:15

Don’t know how many others here are in Scotland, but I got my baby box delivered today! Can’t believe how much lovely stuff we get in it, and that it’s free ✨

@HRP1990 Oh 😂 maybe I need to go back and get what you got then. I just didn’t want the peppermint it said was in it 🫠 can you taste it much?

Xur · 23/07/2024 19:24

Ladies, I’m going to tell you something about the raspberry leaf tea.
I don’t think I’ve made it a secret before, I am Latvian. My people are extremely herbalist and we have a tea for everything.
Raspberry leaf tea, historically has been consumed by the Northern tribespeople for many centuries, however…not for reducing labour.
We’ve been consuming it for bladder colds/utis/urinal tract infections.
You can of course consume it for reducing labour lenght, HOWEVER…
Raspberry leaf has some active reagents inside it that are believed to be heavy on the kidneys.
In general when we start taking it my neck of the woods it is advised to not have more than 2 cups per day and also we are not supposed to be taking it many days in a row.
For UTIs we are advised to have it max 4-5 days and after that we need to stop to not upset other organs (kidneys). So please bear that in mind.

I am not talking from my ass, I am being serious. This is the case if you have it pure raspberry leaf, not mixed with peppermint or camomile. Obviously mixed is less strong, but still..exercise caution.

Xur · 23/07/2024 19:26

Btw…hibiscus tea can bring on contractions, as well as lemon grass. So might want to stay off those before 37 weeks.

Xur · 23/07/2024 19:42

Another thing-there’s also alchemilla vulgaris, which is believed to have the same effect on shortening labour and it also stimulates milk production.
Another tea that stimulates milk production is that of caraway, I think it’s from the seeds, but the caraway seed tea is also taken to fight stomach aches and diarrhoea. So if you drink too much of it you can end up being constipated.
In Latvia, actually, after you give birth they would serve caraway tea in hospital, to encourage milk production.

sorry if too much tea talk, I honestly sometimes won’t shut up about herbalism, but if you need any advice holla at your girl about plants 🌱 😂

I had to just make one because I couldn’t remember 😂 to be completely honest you can taste the peppermint. It’s not quite as strong as a pure peppermint tea, but it probably won’t be your bag. You could make an iced version with lemon and honey to mask the taste, or like @rupertbear91 said add some cranberry juice in?
