@EastLondonCoffeeFiend
Weather looks like it's going to rain here, I swear no matter what the weather is like my boyfriend just has the air con on freezing cold at.all.times

Just got a Chinese in, feeling a tad bloated- definitely looking pregnant today!

My 8 month old is teething really bad, she's so unhappy bless her little heart,

I don't feel pregnant, apart from last night when I had a pineapple juice and wow that ruined me like last time

Moyaingoya · 20/07/2024 20:45

Does anyone know if at the booking appointment we can ask for blood to be taken from somewhere other than arm? It makes me feel really faint and nauseous there for some reason, but I wouldn’t mind hand or foot or even leg! Has anyone else asked for this? Would I be looked at like I was nuts? 😂

Hettycan · 20/07/2024 20:49

Thanks guys for responding about maternity exemption card - I guess I just have to wait for now then and hopefully it turns up! They did look surprised when I told them...but I'm only 10 weeks and no sign of a bump yet, they looked a little sceptical and said I'll have to get the number to them or they will have to fine me 😳

@Lidlisthebusiness wow that's super early to see a consultant but makes total sense as I'm guessing their priority is to make sure you are ok and your diabetes stays under control as I imagine pregnancy pregnancy could wreak havoc for someone women with diabetes? Have you felt well so far?

As a former health professional I wouldn’t take it from anywhere that isn’t the hand or arm, most midwives wouldn’t have had training on the feet or legs! The hand can be even more painful as the veins are close to bone. By all means ask, I’ve definitely taken it from people’s hands usually as a last resort not a first though!

Thanks for replying! It’s not the pain that bothers me, it’s just for some reason it being taken from the arm really makes me feel faint. If you think a midwife would probably be OK with me asking to do it from the hand I’ll do that 😊

Lidlisthebusiness · 20/07/2024 22:05

@Hettycan I'm fairly newly diagnosed, so my blood sugars weren't fully under control anyway, and it was actually them going mad that was my first symptom of being pregnant! It was my diabetes nurse who asked if their was a chance I could be pregnant, so I took a test to rule it out so we could find out what was going on.....then tada! I'll have 2 antenatal teams and the consultant this time, lots of scans, and the birth may well be completely different to my others, and they have to start seeing you from 5 weeks to make sure all is well. Very full on!

KittyFantastica · 21/07/2024 09:06

Morning all!

Hope everything is going as well as can be for everyone. I've been pretty quiet as I'm still traumatised from my last two losses, but we had a really positive scan on Friday. Hopefully will be our last EPU scan.

Measuring 8+5, and I was 8+5 that day, so bang on. HB was 177 and all was looking good. Feel like I need to get to the 12 week scan now and wondering if I'll ever actually relax. But it was so amazing to have positive news and I'm feeling good :)

UrbanSquirrel · 21/07/2024 12:08

Wonderful news for a sunny Sunday, @KittyFantastica - thanks for updating and it's fab to hear that all is going exactly to plan! Hopefully you will soon be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the 'marathon' 🤗 xxx

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend in the sun! I'm currently laid in bed with a fan on.😅

Went to window to the womb for a reassurance scan last week at 9+1, everything looked perfect which was a huge relief. Got my 12 week scan letter in the post for 6th August when I'll be bang on 12 weeks which is exciting :). If the screening results come back low risk I'll be announcing to my parents & grandparents then aaah!!

Not heard anything from my booking blood results yet? I had them over a week ago on 12th, I'm a worrier, but should I have been called back by now if anything weird came up on the blood/urine tests?

I don't think they mind taking from hands. I have quite awkward veins, and at my booking appt last week they managed to get it from my arm, but said they would use my hand if needs be. I'm sure if you explain to them that it makes you feel faint they have allsorts of techniques to distract/comfort you so you barely feel or notice it😃.

Great to hear about the scan!

With reference to booking bloods I think they'd be in touch within couple of days if there are any issues, I haven't heard from anyone reference mine but they are on my NHS app with the ranges, one was out of range but overall says all ok so could be worth checking if you have that ap.

Just to make everything that's going on so much easier, I've now got Covid. I don't think there are any regulations now, but I don't know if there's any risk to pregnancy if you get it? I'm staying away from the hospital too, I'd never forgive myself if I passed it on to someone vulnerable.

UrbanSquirrel · 21/07/2024 18:29

@Lidlisthebusiness Oh God, you're just getting one thing after another. I don't know about Covid in pregnancy unfortunately, but just wanted to send hugs and hope you feel much better in yourself soon.

How bad are the symptoms, or is it just a positive test with little to show for it? Hope your partner and some of the kids can help to look after you a little bit. Take care, and remember - half of what you've been dealing with would have floored me long ago, so you are doing an extraordinary job xxx

If I remember rightly the biggest risk is if you get it later in pregnancy and it necessitates a premature birth. I hope you’re okay and can rest and recover! Your immune system isn’t as efficient as it once was so it might take longer for you to feel back to yourself. X

Roxttc · 21/07/2024 22:55

Been quiet for the past week but all been ticking along fine. Have my scan weds will be 11w 6d. Today however I’ve had this stomach ache/pressure/bloat sort of feeling I can’t describe all day - don’t think it’s gas and I’ve been to the loo but not helped. It’s not painful so to speak just uncomfy and constantly aware of my stomach, really bloated today so I expect it’s just my uterus starting to stretch and general growing pains but really hoping it’s eased off by morning. I’ve taken it dead slow and had a PJ day today and resisted my urge to mow the lawn and do a million jobs on my list! But

Have you self-referred to midwives? Self-referral is just signing up to a website - I got there by googling "[NHS trust] midwife self-referral". You put your details in and get access to the online portal; most trusts seem to use either badgernotes or mypregnancynotes. The portal has a long list of numbers you can call through the different stages of pregnancy (at least, the one for my NHS trust does). It's also how I got the time/date of my booking appointment. Like a pp said, you might be able to find the right number for your local EPU just by googling.

No I haven't done that yet as last 2 times I did I lost it, so wanted to wait. I'm going to ring up today and mention it. Bleeding has stopped but hopefully they will do me a scan to reassure me.
Sickness has been worse than ever though so hoping that's a good sign

Redapple21 · 22/07/2024 06:57

@UrbanSquirrel I've just logged into my nhs app, and whilst I don't have many details on there such as blood test results like others have said, it does say my prescription for folic acid and vitD is a repeat prescription, so I'm taking this to mean I take it throughout!

My trust doesn't seem to use badger notes or anything like this which is a shame, I would like to be able to see everything in an app!

UrbanSquirrel · 22/07/2024 07:06

@Redapple21 Thanks for the update! I'm running really low so I might see if I can get some more at the scan tomorrow.

On which note, very best of luck to those having their 12-week scan today! That's @elb1504 if I remember correctly, and @Toriiaa was it you too? Hope it goes extremely well for both of you! 💜💛💚

@retrievermum One day to go for us! 🤞🏻 x

UrbanSquirrel · 22/07/2024 07:08

@Redapple21 PS I don't have badger notes either - all my letters come through the NHS app, like you, and I don't seem to have anywhere to access the maternity notes online, so I'm guarding that folder with my life! 😂

OP posts:
Redapple21 · 22/07/2024 07:16

@UrbanSquirrel yes or maybe call your gp and see if they can issue a repeat prescription for you. I can see from mine that the midwife has sent the request to the GP. All trusts seem to work things so differently don't they!

Good luck to all having scans this week xx

Toriiaa · 22/07/2024 08:06

@UrbanSquirrel yep 2:40 and I'm nervous now. Well done for remembering! Only a day to go for you!
My mums coming over to have my little girl and I'm hoping my other half hasn't got a call out as he's on call this week. As I'd really like him to come with me.

UrbanSquirrel · 22/07/2024 08:39

I'll be sending good vibes at 2:40pm ☺️ And fingers crossed your partner's work can manage without him for the afternoon. Good luck!!! x

Thank you for the new thread!

My trust doesn't use badger notes either, how are we supposed to see/read/discuss our results? 🤔

superj21 · 22/07/2024 09:52

Good luck for everyone with scans this week ❤️

Piluka · 22/07/2024 11:29

In a couple of weeks (2/08) i have my 12w scan. I started to worry about it, so much so, yesterday I dreamed that the sonographer took my "baby" that was a puppy (don't ask and don't judge lol. .. Dreams are weird) from my tummy, put it into water, used a sticky roll on its head and after a while she told me that my "baby" had down's syndrome (very severe) one of its legs wasn't moving at all and that we should think about termination of the pregnancy. She also mentioned my next pregnancy with a girl would go alright. I feel sad but the sadness of all was thinking to pass again through all again and feel sick 24/7 during 3 months. I was thinking that was my fault I did something wrong (eating something I shouldn't + my age 38) I was very very sad and started crying desesperately.

My partner woke me up because I was crying in my sleep very loud and he was very concerned. How odd dreams are, aren't they?

I then realised that actually I'm petrified to find out something is amiss. Anyone had some nightmares regarding this or I am the odd one? 😅
