My little boy has been doing tummy time for multiple hours a day between feeds and naps, is that too much? We always pick him up and check on him and change his nappies, give loads of cuddles etc.. He is veyy independent though. The only time he's contained is when he's in his high chair to taste a bit of fruit once a day.

Can these first teeth come through asap! Losing my mind 🤯🙈

Tell me about it! It takes 2 hours to get him to sleep at night and that's after some calpol. I nurse him to sleep for naps & night sleeps but that's not even working now. I frequently find myself taking 5 minutes here and there when trying because it's wearing me down and he's 9kg so holding him hurts 🙃

spongelover · 03/08/2024 10:13

Has anyone started solids before 6 months? DS is 5.5 months now and I'm thinking about it. He's tried a little bit of banana and carrot already but only a taster. Sorry if this has already been covered, I've just joined and there's so many comments to look through 😆

2boysandmee · 03/08/2024 11:39

@spongelover we have started at 5 months, first started giving him porridge and now we are introducing some fruits and vegetables as purées. Once we hit 6 month ish I'm gonna introduce some finger foods too and move to BLW
He was more than ready and showing all the signs. He's really enjoying it so far :)

Ah I’m just finding u all again, I was thinking everyone went very quiet. @spongelover we started solids at 22 weeks so almost 4 weeks ago now, she’s absolutely loving sitting up eating with us esp when we go out for food, she loves the little sticks (Ella’s kitchen) u can get them for 4+ months and makes them feel like they are part of breakfast/dinner time ☺️
hi everyone 👋🏽 I must read back now , I’ve loads to catch up on 😅

Cheetocat · 03/08/2024 11:50

@spongelover My little boy started solids at 5.5 months and he's doing great, he has a fruit or vegetable every day after his first nap, steamed apple is his favourite! 😍

Sunshineclouds11 · 03/08/2024 11:55

@spongelover I found nurofen more effective for teething than Calpol! Also anbesol liquid 👌🏽

We started weaning 5.5 month so a week or two now. She's really enjoying it.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 03/08/2024 11:56

@LavenderSweetPea dont worry if you’re not getting it in it’s only if you were wanting to give more opportunities for crawling but they will learn either way. Tummy time is a relatively new trend and whilst it’s shown to be beneficial it’s not for you and your baby if it’s making you both unhappy!

Oh fab! I'll check out Ella's kitchen products, thank you so much. Can't wait for him to eat out with us in restaurants/family dos!

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you mash the apple once it's steamed or leave it as it is? (Obviously cut lol)

I'll have to check out nurofen, didn't even know that was a thing for babies thank you! Calpol isn't quite cutting it bless him

I can't believe your little ones are crawling/close to crawling. My boy just turned six months and he barely rolls. He's home front to back a few times but never got close to front to back rolling. I've been a bit worried about it tbh... Anyone else in the same position?

Just wanted to say I’m in a similar boat. Little one will be 6 months old on the 11th. He can roll from front to back but has no real interest in it. He’s got on his side from back but not done a back to front roll yet. Most of the time when he’s had enough he has a tantrum at the ground. He can wiggle in a circle either on his front or back but not forwards yet. Sitting he’s getting stronger sitting with support. Still no teeth yet - he has developed an interest in food but mostly just playing with it and mouthing it. I’ve read not to worry just yet about the rolling so just keeping encouraging him and giving lots of tummy time / floor time with toys.

Cheetocat · 04/08/2024 09:20

@spongelover I give him a couple of wedges of the steamed apple to pick up himself and also mash one 🥰

msp2023 · 05/08/2024 17:09

I'm loving weaning! It's only been a week so far but little one completely ignores finger foods! She loves the purées and launches her head at the spoon! Also doesn't seem to want to stop until I think she's had enough 🤨

Fab, I'm going to try this :D! I've bought some pouches from Aldi for him to try, I noticed a lot contain lemon juice which is fine... but I'm intolerant so I bought 100% pure mango purée and another fruit one just in case it makes him poorly. Can't wait to start this journey

ProudMummyxo · 05/08/2024 22:10

If anyone needs a mat for under the highchair £6.99 in Aldi. Wish I'd spotted this before paying a fortune on Amazon 🙈😂

DmcinT · 06/08/2024 09:09

@spongelover the pouches are great in fairness, hopefully he’s ok with the lemon. I spent the first 2 weeks steaming/boiling and blitzing everything from scratch, it was such a pollava to be honest🫣

just wondering if anyone is still breastfeeding and how often lo is up feeding at night? We were getting a great 5/6 hr stretch but she’s taken to waking every 1.5-2 hrs for the last 2 weeks or so now, not sure what the change is but it’s exhausting

LavenderSweetPea · 06/08/2024 09:17

@DmcinT I'm still breastfeeding. We had night weaned (I fed at 8pm and not again until 6am, he'd often wake before 6 but we'd settle him without milk) but since we started food a couple of weeks ago he's been waking 4-6 times in the night and often won't go back down without a feed. It's exhausting, I don't know how much of it is teething, we've got no teeth yet but he seems to have a lot of discomfort, or possibly belly issues from weaning but honestly he eats so little.

Also, I posted a week ago that my little boy didn't roll yet. Well two days later he did 3 times in the same day. Just to show me he can because he's not done it since. I can only assume he just doesn't want to 😂

ProudMummyxo · 06/08/2024 12:10

I don't breastfeed but my little one has gone to waking a lot more in the night too and like you @LavenderSweetPea won't settle back again without a feed.

Possible growth spurt?!

Sunshineclouds11 · 06/08/2024 12:21

DD waking more frequent also!!

msp2023 · 06/08/2024 12:45

Same boat for us! Waking every 1h pretty much and then refusing to settle in the crib. Ended up with her in my bed for the last few nights which we've never had to do. Worried we won't get back in the crib again 😫

LavenderSweetPea · 06/08/2024 13:14

@ProudMummyxo @Sunshineclouds11 @msp2023 glad it's not just us this is happening to! My baby has been in his own room for a while now but last night I brought him back into my room as it was just too much to keep getting out of bed to settle him. I've not done that since he moved to his own room.

I'm sure it's a normal phase, hopefully they'll get over it quickly. We're going on our first family holiday next week and I'd like to be able to enjoy it without being a zombie mama.

ProudMummyxo · 06/08/2024 13:48

For all of our babbas to be doing similar and they are all 6 months ish it must be a spurt of some sort.

2boysandmee · 06/08/2024 16:43

Glad I came and read here today! My LO has been waking loads too and ended up in my bed last night!
According to wonder weeks we are in leap 5, only 23 days left!

Sunshineclouds11 · 06/08/2024 17:04

I'm so pleased I'm not the only one 🙊
I felt like the only person up in the world last night
