Also - poos of those babies eating solids? I am in shock today 😂😂 I was told they get bad but gosh! I miss the milky poos already

DmcinT · 06/08/2024 21:07

@LavenderSweetPea @ProudMummyxo @Sunshineclouds11 @msp2023 ah it’s across the board so, I thought maybe with breastfeeding was she not staying full for long with being bigger now. I know bottles do keep them fuller for longer but this must just be a growth spurt or that now. I’ve tried to replace one feed a day with a bottle but she’s not having any of it, any tips for stopping BFing welcome ❤️

ProudMummyxo · 06/08/2024 21:52

In other regards to sleeping has anyone else's little one suddenly gone to 2 naps a day. Yesterday and today when it would be his third nap he's just stayed asleep til 12ish when he first wakes for bottle. Unsure if it's cos of it being after his bit of food so fulller tummy 🤷🏻‍♀️

No day is the same is it 😂

Sunshineclouds11 · 07/08/2024 00:59

Round 1 - 45 mins so far

ProudMummyxo · 07/08/2024 09:44

Lastnight he nodded off just before 8, woke at 10, 12,1, 2:45-4, 6, then woke for the day at 8:15 🙈

But I am lucky that partner is now doing more with him and gets up with him in the morning so I can stay in bed and get a bit of undisturbed sleep

Cheetocat · 07/08/2024 11:20

@msp2023 The poos are absolutely shocking! I knew they would change but they're like toxic waste! My little one has started tugging at the side of the nappy when I'm trying to change him too, risking that poo going everywhere! 🤣💩

Random question for everyone who is weaning, do you sterilise bowls and spoons etc or just wash them up? To begin with I was sterilising everything but given that she now tries to chew on anything and everything (and anyone 🤣) it seemed a bit pointless so now I just wash them. Hoping that's safe!

2boysandmee · 07/08/2024 13:53

@Meeting we are just washing them too, seems pointless to sterilise like you say everything goes in their mouths now. I caught my LO licking the living room rug the other day 🤢🙈

Ihatewinding · 07/08/2024 14:00

@DmcinT if you're wanting to stop breastfeeding fully and bottle refusing then you can try a bigger teat as might be too much work if using a size 0 or 1 teat if not used to it. If you're wanting to combi feed then using a size 2 teat might lead to a bottle preference due to faster easier flow, but if that's your aim then might work better?

I think they only advise sterilising up until 6 months and giving cooled boiled tap water until then too. After that then fine to stop, except if mixing formula milk into food then should sterilise anything that comes into contact with any formula. Ngl though I've not sterilised anything for pre 6 months weaning with this one haha second child defo gets treated differently from the PFB 😅

ProudMummyxo · 07/08/2024 15:28

Organix weaning wands in strawberry or banana are great little finger food snacks. £1 a bag in Tesco at the minute. It's the only finger food little man has at the min whilst he's still getting used to weaning 😊

Same!😂

Meeting · 08/08/2024 12:38

Thanks everyone that makes me feel much better about not sterilising😂

How crazy is it that our babies are all turning 6 months old this month!

novamama · 09/08/2024 02:54

Ugh oh. Seems to have also hit some sleep regression wonder. Baby is currently the most awake she's ever been in her lifetime. And it's already been one hour of this - send help. Whyyyyy baby please go to sleeeeep 😭😭😭😭

We are also not sterilising bowls or cutlery. Not sure how I'd sterilise them tbh because they are bamboo 🙈

msp2023 · 09/08/2024 14:00

When is everyone thinking to increase meals to twice a day?
We're ten days into weaning and little one is loving veg purées! Eating quite a good amount of them too. Just wondering when to start adding a second meal 🧐

DmcinT · 09/08/2024 14:10

@msp2023 we started adding in a second one about 2.5/3 weeks into solids, she absolutely loves her porridge in the morning so we do that and then one of the wee Ella’s kitchen purées later in the day. U could deff add another in and see how they go, I find she just won’t open her mouth if she’s not hungry so if they don’t need it I think they’ll let us know 🤞🏽

my wee scoot is still refusing bottles, I’m persevering but it’s 12 days now and still no budge on taking it, I might change the milk as I know she just doesn’t like the taste but I hate UHT milk myself so I can understand why she’s not taking it 😅 dunno if there’s an alternative?

Cheetocat · 09/08/2024 17:54

My little boy is six months old today, I can't believe it, he has changed our lives in the best way, we're so lucky. 😍 He is absolutely flying around the floor too, it's amazing watching him grow and develop!

ProudMummyxo · 09/08/2024 19:56

All of us currently 😂

@ProudMummyxo 🤣🤣 how true!

Cheetocat · 10/08/2024 10:11

Just whizzed up some porridge oats in the bender to make oat flour and cooked it with water, then I added mashed banana and peanut butter. Baby absolutely wolfed it down, bless him. 🤣

RachLeeds · 10/08/2024 12:38

My boy pulls away from the spoon and won’t open his mouth, so I’m guessing he’s not ready for solids?? He definitely knows it’s food, but he’s just not interested and smiles at me nervously. If I do put it in his mouth he just pulls a face and spits it out 🙈

2boysandmee · 10/08/2024 17:53

How many naps is everyone's LO having a day and what time do they go to bed?

I feel like I just can't get the balance right and it takes numerous times to get him settled properly on a night still no matter what happens in the day with naps, would be interesting to see some other peoples sleep schedules please x

Meeting · 10/08/2024 18:14

@Cheetocat thanks for that I think my girl would love it!

@2boysandmee were down to 3 naps a day and bedtime at 8pm. She usually falls asleep drinking her bottle and doesn't wake up till morning. It's a bit tricky to keep her up till 8 sometimes because depending on her nap times she can have nearly 4 hours awake before bed but it's a pretty good routine.

Cheetocat · 10/08/2024 20:27

@2boysandmee We're the same, he takes 3 or 4 naps but night time is all over the place either way. Sometimes he goes to sleep at 8 and wakes up after half an hour as if it's a nap and other times he'll sleep a good stretch. On the very chaotic days I don't get into bed myself until midnight.

ProudMummyxo · 10/08/2024 21:18

2-3 naps a day currently and bedtime anywhere between 7-9 depending on when last nap was really 🙂

He was having 2 really good naps early in the week as I previously posted about but it's like they've gone to pot again and only about 30 mins long 🙈
