@Sunshineclouds11 it's been a tough few weeks for him basically cutting 5 in 1 go. I'm sort of glad they've come together like this though so he has a rest now 🙂 his tum tum cup came today, yet to try it out but hopefully will have success like you.

Are you all ready for Xmas? X

@CheeseAndCrackersx Yes deffo a deserved break!

I'm sure you will, seems to be the easiest cup I've come across.
The one I picked up I had to suck really hard, god knows how they expect babies to!

A couple more bits of wrapping to do, need to get stocking fillers. Are you sorted?

Cheetocat · 22/12/2024 10:41

@CheeseAndCrackersx aww congratulations, wish we were there already, my little boy still has numbers 6,7 and 8 close to erupting and bothering him so much!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 22/12/2024 13:20

Hope you have a lush day

Cheetocat · 23/12/2024 10:40

Finally got all the presents wrapped, the stocking stuffers were a bit last minute but he will love them either way.
Want - Beach tent as we live near the coast in the south of Europe
Need - Pikler triangle with arch and bridge
Wear - A little set with a rugby style shirt and trousers.
Read - Twinkle Twinkle and Incy Wincy books that play the tune of the songs.

He was given a wooden bike by a friend of his grandmother's yesterday, I can't cope with how cute it is!

Merry Christmas mums and babies, thanks for the support over the past 18 months!

LavenderSweetPea · 25/12/2024 20:04

Merry Christmas mummies and happy first Christmas babies!! Today was so special. My little one performed a Christmas miracle by sleeping through the night for the first time in ages. He has been having fun in his teepee, although I think we're all feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the people here today. We only got him four gifts (the want, need, wear, read thing) but honestly after the family all bought little one gifts we've been swamped with toys! Hope everyone has had a wonderful day xxx

Meeting · 26/12/2024 12:28

Hello all, hope you had a lovely first Christmas with your babies!
We had a huge surprise yesterday when I got the urge to take a pregnancy test for various reasons, and it was positive!!
I'm trying not to think about it too much at the minute because I had 2 MC before this baby, but my mind is racing thinking about 2 under 2. Honestly such a blessing as we had a very long and very hard time last time so we haven't even let the topic of another baby into our minds. Fingers crossed x

CheeseAndCrackersx · 26/12/2024 22:54

@Meeting Aww Congratulations 🥰 what a lovely gift for you all. Fingers crossed all goes ok for you xx

@Meeting Congratulations! Hope all goes well for you

msp2023 · 30/12/2024 16:20

@Meeting congratulations! Such lovely news 🥰

Anyone thinking about the transition from formula to cows milk?
I think I want to start slowly from now, just no idea how to go about it.

We're on 3 bottles atm, 5oz/5/7.
I'm going to start reducing the middle bottle and replace with a substantial snack.
So thinking to start with half and half formula/cows in morning bottle. Then full cows after two weeks for morning bottle. And repeat for evening bottle.

No idea if that's a good plan - or if that much cows milk should be continued after 12 months? So confusing

CheeseAndCrackersx · 30/12/2024 17:18

I'm glad you've asked @msp2023 cos I have 0 clue either

Meeting · 30/12/2024 17:19

Thanks so much everyone 🥰

@msp2023 I was googling about that very thing this morning! I didn't even think to start with half and half so that could be a good idea

Sunshineclouds11 · 30/12/2024 17:31

With my DS I literally changed over to cows milk on his first birthday.
Warmed up in the microwave and that was it.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 30/12/2024 17:54

I'll probably do half & half 🙂

I wanted to give him that kids Big Milk cos of it having vitamins etc in. But since all this Arla/cow business I'm not sure 🙈😄

msp2023 · 30/12/2024 18:14

Nice to know I'm not the only one feeling confused 😂

@Sunshineclouds11 ooh interesting! I've heard some constipation horror stories so I'm nervous about a straight switch.
Hmmm might make it a quicker switch in that case?

Im planning to do around 400ml cows split over two bottles; one at bedtime but not sure when the other should be 🤔 should it be a snack bottle or alongside meals 🫠

Sunshineclouds11 · 30/12/2024 19:23

@msp2023 He had no tummy troubles but we may have been lucky.
Planning on doing the same with DD.

Can be either or, whatever works best.
I'm planning dropping the two day time bottles over time and replacing with snacks so may be good along side meal so they don't expect a bottle

Cheetocat · 30/12/2024 23:21

My little boy is breastfed but was having bottles of formula multiple times a day too for various reasons, he was down to one bottle a day after his afternoon nap and couldn't go without it but for the past week he's been having water and either a banana or a grated apple and it's going so well!

Anyone's baby taking steps? My little one is taking 1 - 3 little steps every day but I don't know how to help him gain confidence, he wants to do it but he gets nervous and his legs buckle under him.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 31/12/2024 11:25

@Cheetocat a push along walker?

No steps for us yet. He's just starting to cruise a little on furniture

Happy New Year all 🎉

HAPPY NEW YEAR

My DD is breastfed and feeding constantly day and night at the moment. I’m hoping it regulates when she goes to nursery in January. She’ll be 11 months on 13th January - does anyone know how much milk I should express and how they will go about giving it to her or whether I should just not bother because she can survive on food when away from me

She has still NEVER linked a sleep cycle and we cosleep for survival. I’ve night weaned and/ or attempted putting her in her own room a few times for a week or so at a time then given in and coslept again because I was on deaths door with no time spent in my own bed. I’ve even taken her to the GP because this can’t be normal. She’s my third and I’ve never known another baby like it. ANY thoughts or wisdom is welcome if you have any ideas. She has never slept longer than 50 minutes at a time, please help 😂

@Cheetocat she is taking steps and I’m just leaving her to it. I think that like your little one she will just decide to walk instead at some point. She has been early on all gross motor so I think walking as the main method of moving will come any day. The thing that freaked her out about taking steps was when my DH started shouting/cheering when she was stepping and so I think she thought she was in danger. I’d say lots of opportunity for cruising/ stepping and no huge fuss to freak him out

CheeseAndCrackersx · 01/01/2025 13:51

@Mismatc does she nap in her own room? If not try that first. And is there not a way you could try her in her cot at night but sleep on the floor for a few nights so she still has you near but getting used to her room.

I feel for you.

How long does she take to settle again after 50 mins at night? X

OP posts:
Mismatc · 01/01/2025 19:46

She does often nap in her room but I get her to sleep in my arms first and then put her down. I put her to bed in her room every night around 7 and by the third wake (about 9-10ish) I take her into bed with me for the rest of the night

She settles quickly in my arms/ feeding but is difficult to put back down into a cot. I tried a floor bed as well but she woke very regularly and immediately crawled behind the door and it was difficult to get back in the room

When cosleeping she is latched on most of the night. I have a cot in my room too which she sleeps no better in despite me being right next to her
