I've not actually started my meds yet as appt tomorrow but I'm very low in iron and low in folate so will need both. Vitamin D just okay but I do take that already. Done coeliac test and check for blood in poo test and hopefully results back tomorrow. Then to discuss camera tests 🫠

I hope gets sorted quickly with meds, especially as only getting maternity/postpartum exemption for prescriptions until Feb 😅
How long have you been on the iron @Sunshineclouds11 ? Do you feel any better yet?

@LavenderSweetPea I don't think they contain a massive amount of iron, and defo not compared to prescription meds if that's what is needed, so don't let yourself get fobbed off and would try get some bloods done. I want to enjoy these last few months of maternity leave, not feel like I'm walking through treacle with a brain like mush! It's been a 7 week turnaround to this review appt from booking the initial appt (had a 3 week wait) and even that's only cos I went to a drop in place for the bloods to be done, otherwise was a 3 week wait just for that 🫣 then 2.5 weeks wait for review appt after results available - did do some extra tests in this time though. So yeah... wouldn't put it off! I can't imagine working safely in my current state, would just have to go onto sick leave tbh.

Sunshineclouds11 · 10/11/2024 18:44

@Ihatewinding About a month and a half now, yes feeling better. Still have tired days but I don't feel like I've been hit by train anymore.
And do feel a skip in energy.

Cheetocat · 10/11/2024 23:34

Can't believe my little boy is nine months old, we've got his 9 month appointment tomorrow morning. I'm so proud of him, can't wait to show him off to the nurse and doctor. I bet he'll refuse to clap or wave as usual when I want someone to see him do it. 😅

On Thursday we're off on his first flight, I did some packing today but I'm nowhere near ready, so excited though!

Mismatc · 11/11/2024 05:44

I’m feeling so exhausted and a bit low 😞

My LO has been unwell for the last three days spiking temperatures and feeding continuously. She’s been so unsettled and I have a really sore left nipple which is making life a bit miserable. She has CMPA and loves boobs with her whole heart so I’m feeling I have no alternatives. I’m feeling a little low and trapped this morning

We've just got back from a huge trip across Asia which was amazing but exhausting followed by being up for three nights. She’s a terrible sleeper anyway but this is another level. Usually I can at least cosleep with frequent wakes but I’ve had to be fully up and it really hurts to feed 😞

Ihatewinding · 14/11/2024 07:43

@Sunshineclouds11 ooh not feeling like hit by a train sounds good. Don't know if it's the fact I've had steak for about 70% of the days since found out about blood tests, or since starting the iron and folic acid, but I do feel slightly brighter and even went on a walk yesterday for first time in ages. My blood in poo test came back just borderline positive so am now on fast track pathway, hopefully means can have the camera tests before Christmas even if likely overkill!

Ihatewinding · 14/11/2024 07:51

@Cheetocat good luck with travelling! I know I can't believe mine is already 9 months old now too, has just started pulling up to stand everywhere and cruising so head injuries galore here as well haha 😅

@Mismatc hope your little one is feeling better, it's horrible when babies are poorly 😢 and hope your nipple is healing and feeding going more smoothly. God knows when we will do a long haul holiday, you're braver than me!

anony1111 · 14/11/2024 21:47

If you formula feed how much milk is your LO currently having? We are on 3 meals a day now but not sure if my boy is having enough milk

msp2023 · 14/11/2024 21:59

@anony1111 I was wondering the same!
We have a small breastfeed on waking at 7.30am, solids at 8.30am, 6-7oz at 11am, solids at 12.30pm, 6-7oz at 2pm, solids at 5pm and 7-8oz at 7pm.

I've been winging it lol and some meals / bottles are hit and miss. Through teething, solids have been a complete no go and bottles aren't being finished at all

4 bottles of formula (7oz) a day but baby sometimes leaves an ounce, or two now.

msp2023 · 15/11/2024 15:12

NHS guidance is around 400mL milk + 3 meals at 10 months (which is us in two weeks).
Nowhere near managed to reduce milk to that low yet 🤔 especially as food has been hit and miss because of teething hmm.

Not sure if it's best to actively just offer less milk in the hope that food intake goes up?

Sunshineclouds11 · 15/11/2024 18:33

DD hasn't been fussed on bottles lately, she's leaving 3/4oz. Normally has 7oz.
I've started making smaller bottles to not waste milk.

Also off food, putting down to teething.

LavenderSweetPea · 15/11/2024 19:41

We're also doing 3 meals a day now, no snacks yet. Although honestly lunch he's not very keen on so it's more of a snack than a meal. Milk has reduced although breastfeeding so I'm not sure exactly from what to what.

I still haven't had a period. Any other bf mamas here in the same position?

Thewildthingsarewithme · 15/11/2024 20:15

@LavenderSweetPea no period here either! Are you still feeding on demand? I think I’m probably feeding about six times in the day and up to ten at night so I think that’s probably why. I mentioned it to the doctor because I went to get my iron checked and she didn’t seem concerned

LavenderSweetPea · 15/11/2024 20:39

@Thewildthingsarewithme I'm still feeding on demand although demand isn't what it once was. Once at night and 4-5 times in the day.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 15/11/2024 21:11

That’s still a lot so imagine that will be why. One of my friends didn’t get her period for nearly a year and a half PP but was still ovulating

Mismatc · 18/11/2024 19:00

No period here either and I’d love to be pregnant already 😞

Still feeding 6 times or so in the day and alllll night

Thewildthingsarewithme · 18/11/2024 19:23

@Mismatc same! I’m so glad I’m not the only one, it’s like an all you can eat buffet for my LO at night 🙄
Are you planning on trying soon? I also am keen to start but don’t know whether to try and wean first

Mismatc · 19/11/2024 11:59

I’ve been trying since she was born, never used contraception as we wanted another one asap. Weaning may be our only option

Meeting · 19/11/2024 15:55

For those who have introduced lunch, what are you giving?

msp2023 · 19/11/2024 16:23

@Meeting I started lunch a few weeks ago but she wasn't eating a huge amount. So I've switched to small picky lunches which she does better with - some slices of cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, maybe a small omelette etc.

Meeting · 20/11/2024 09:12

@msp2023 that sounds great, she's been having mid-day snacks for a while (hoping melty sticks aren't too bad for her because she's obsessed) so I may just give her a plate of finger foods instead of another meal.

Sunshineclouds11 · 20/11/2024 10:48

Meeting · 19/11/2024 15:55

For those who have introduced lunch, what are you giving?

Sandwich
Omelette
Picky plate
Left overs from night before
Toast with various toppings
Scrambled egg

Sunshineclouds11 · 21/11/2024 04:43

Can you let me know what your schedules are for naps and bed time please?

Having a nightmare with DD going back to sleep after this wake up

LavenderSweetPea · 21/11/2024 08:38

@Sunshineclouds11 Baby boy usually wakes up around half six or seven, we do first nap 3 hours later (usually 10am) and he naps for about an hour. I then do a 4 hour wake window which usually takes us to about 3pm for our second nap. Honestly second nap is a struggle and it's usually only 30 minutes which takes us to about 3.30 and then we power through for bed time between 7 or 7.30.

If he wakes up in the night I feed him back to sleep, sometimes he sleeps through but today he woke at half five and I think he was cold - it took forever to get him back to sleep (over an hour, although he was clearly still tired). We don't have our heating on overnight and it was a cold one last night.

If we have an early wake, say at 6am and the first nap is a short one (40 minutes or less) then I adjust the schedule to be a 3 nap day, but my golden rule which I never ever stray from is that we must be doing bedtime milk by 8 (I feed to sleep), and he has to gave been up for at least 2.5 hours before bed. Basically that means that even if he's only 15 minutes into a third nap by half five then so be it, I wake him up.

Ihatewinding · 21/11/2024 09:10

@Sunshineclouds11 we have wake up around 6:45/7ish, sometimes he wakes 6/6:15ish but I leave him and generally he goes back to sleep for at least 10-15 mins until usual wake time (if he has a dummy in but if he's knocked them all out then he needs it replacing). Do you use a dummy? I think you do iirc, how many do you have in the cot? We have 8-10 😅 I try to leave him until earliest 6:45 before getting him. I don't feed him his bottle until 7.

First nap around 9:15/30 after 2.5/2.75h wake window for 1.25/1.5h. Then 3/3.25h wake window for a nap from 2/2:30 and always wake by 4pm - usually around 1.5-2h nap. Last wake window is about 3.5h so bed time between 7 and 7:30. Tends to sleep through unless digestive trouble/teething/illness.

4am wake ups tended to always be digestive with my oldest. So when this baby started with the 4am screamy wake ups after upping/switching up his food then we introduced a dose of gripewater at bathtime post last bottle and he has slept through pretty much since. We only stopped it with my daughter at 15 months when had a bunch more teeth and belly more settled. I keep a food diary as he has a milk allergy and avoid things for a bit if a particularly bad night and not ill/teething and then try again later.

Other thing is cold as 4/5am is the coldest time usually, but we have an oil radiator in his and my daughter's rooms so it stays 19ish degrees 24/7 so we can always rule out cold - it's hard enough when they can't tell you what's wrong!
