@2boysandmee we are on either 3 or 4 naps, depends if she gets a good length out of one or 2 of them she’ll last until bedtime around 7.30/8pm but an odd day all naps will only be 50/60 mins so she ends up with 4 naps. I try to make sure she doesn’t sleep later than 6pm on that last nap so she’s tired by 8. She generally wakes around 7am but she’d be up BFing at least twice in the night.

@RachLeeds deff sounds like he’s just not ready yet, have u tried a few different things incase he just doesn’t like for eg baby rice or whatever u started with? He might just take another few days/weeks to have interest

Havanalily1806 · 11/08/2024 11:45

@2boysandmee we are 3 naps a day

Wake around 7:30, 1st nap 9-10, second nap around 12:30 can be anything from
An hour to 2 hours then a nap between 4-5 length will depend on how long her lunch nap has been, but we cap that nap at 5:15pm latest.

We do bath at 6pm, book and bottle and she's usually ready to be settled to bed for 7 and asleep between 7-7:30.

We follow the blissful baby expert routines on Instagram and they've been great for her sleep.

Sorry to mention the C word already, but what are you planning on getting baby for Christmas?

His main present is going to be a pickler triangle, I think he'll love it, he's already trying to climb everything. 😂

2boysandmee · 11/08/2024 16:26

@Meeting @Cheetocat @ProudMummyxo @DmcinT @Havanalily1806

Thank you for sharing your routines, it's helpful to see what other babies of a similar age are doing.

We are 3 naps a day which the majority are only 30-35 mins long! He goes to bed at 6:30-7ish and wakes around 2 times a night to be fed. Then awake for the day around 7-8am. It seems he just cant get past the 30-35 mins without waking up, guessing he struggles to link his sleep cycles and we are still rocking to sleep so that probably doesn't help as he can't self settle.

Any tips how to get out of the rocking to sleep without sleep training? He just gets so upset if I try soothe him whilst in his cot.

Mismatc · 12/08/2024 08:52

Naps are 10-30 minutes here and 3x a day. She seems so grizzly and tired all day but won’t nap properly. She goes down at 18:00ish (she’s desperate for bed by then) and gets up at 6:30. She’s rolling and moving all over the place, I feel like her development is coming on leads and bounds at the moment ☺️

She’s already having three small meals/ tastes a day because she demands everything off my plate (she’ll be 6 months on Tuesday). Still breastfed otherwise but last night I tried to settle her at times without the breast because she has started to reverse cycle and feed all night and I’d prefer her to get her calories in within the day

I’m really reassured to hear that other babies are having super short naps. My baby never managed to link sleep cycles so I didn’t get to the longer naps that others were having but she did at least nap 45 minutes sometimes, that’s all gone now!

Havanalily1806 · 12/08/2024 21:03

@2boysandmee

We still rock to sleep- I tried to work on self settling but she will fight and fight sleep I gave up for now 🙈.

I have attended a zoom session on self settling, and one good tip I took from it which does help to settle her (when she's not teething and just eating it) was having a muslin out through the day on you when you feed etc, and give them that when settling to sleep, the smell of you will give them comfort, and until this recent teething episode she was cuddling into it and settling on her own in her cot some of the time. They are breathable so you don't need to worry about it in the cot, we removed it when we went to bed just to be extra safe

ProudMummyxo · 13/08/2024 06:28

Thank you for that tip @Havanalily1806 😀
I will definitely be trying that 1 as I need to start getting little man to self soothe more cos I currently rock the next 2 me to settle him but I can't do that when he moves to a cot 😄

Meeting · 28/07/2024 20:56

Hi @CharXo I remembered someone was struggling but couldn't think who! The dietician emailed me a milk ladder and told me to start it at 9 months. Would you like me to send it to you?

Sorry just seen this! Yes please if you could 🙏🏽

Cheetocat · 13/08/2024 10:28

My little boy just had his 6 month check up today and a 6-in-one vaccine, bless him. I had to wake him to leave the house too so he had extra reason to be fussy but he took it so well! We're home now and he's drifting off on the boob.

I'm so proud of him, he was born on the 50th centile and at 5 weeks old after jaundice and sepsis he was down to the 5th centile but today our boy was in the 65th centile, he's eating solids well, crawling, recognises his name and so much more. I know they're all normal things but after the start he had it's so reassuring. 😭

2boysandmee · 13/08/2024 11:25

@Mismatc 10-30 min naps 🙈 maybe I shouldn't be complaining at 30 mins lol
Like you say they are learning so much at this stage and I definitely think it affects sleep. My boy loves practicing his new skills at 3am regularly 🤣🤣

@Havanalily1806 yup I gave up too as he just ends up beside himself and I would rather rock him still than him be so upset. That's a good tip! I'm gonna give it a try today, thank you!

ProudMummyxo · 13/08/2024 12:57

Little man now sits unsupported on the floor 😀 so clever!! & there I was a few weeks ago worrying he was delayed cos hadn't rolled yet. Next step crawling 😄

msp2023 · 14/08/2024 11:45

Anyone doing mainly purées at this stage? Little one doesn't really show interest in finger foods (we are only two weeks in!) so I've just been spoon feeding. She also doesn't care much to grasp the spoon herself 😂

We get maybe 6-7 good spoonfuls of food and then she's over it! How much are everyone else's little ones eating? Just as a matter of interest, I know babies are so different! :)

Sunshineclouds11 · 14/08/2024 12:33

@msp2023 Just purée for us at the moment aswell.
Going to start offering finger foods in couple of weeks. It does terrify me though.

She's having half a jar/pouch. Doesn't always eat it all if she's not keen.

Hotpolarbear · 14/08/2024 15:06

We are mainly doing purees.
He has porridge for breakfast and 1/3 of a savory pouch twice a day with 1/3 of a sweet fruit one for his dessert as he's not happy if he doesn't get the sweeter one.
He does have a but of the wafers to get used to feeding himself but he's not overally keen on them. I'm reluctant to try finger foods as he's only.just 6 months but would scream if we ever ate around him so started weaning him about 3 weeks ago

DmcinT · 14/08/2024 15:20

@msp2023 we started finger foods about 3 weeks ago but LO was obsessed with what we were eating for a good month before that so she was well ready, she loves sitting up eating something herself now when we are eating as before she’d be drooling at the sight of us eating, I’d feel so guilty 😂
I was/am so nervous about choking but thank god all good so far, it’s mainly those sticks that melt that we give her.

anyone else got a little toot of a thing? we are just over 6 months but still mostly in 0-3 month clothes and she’s only 14lbs something

ProudMummyxo · 14/08/2024 16:56

I'm only giving the 4 month Ella's kitchen purée pouches currently cos I found anything 6 months age apart from the weaning wands I give for the finger food side of things he was gagging a lot more with then being sick so I've took a step back and just giving those.

Bought in plenty and once used then maybe try anything 6 months again.

He has up to about 20 spoonfuls at a time if he likes it. If he's happy to carry on opening his mouth then I just carry on 🙂

Cheetocat · 14/08/2024 19:47

I haven't given my little boy any purees yet. I cook him something every day and he has it after his first nap, today he had carrot and broccoli, I mash a bit and give the rest as finger foods. If he's acting hungry in the evening I'll feed him half a small avocado. He's loving his meals and he definitely enjoys fruit a lot more than veg, his favourite is cooked apple with cinnamon! I haven't introduced proteins or starches yet but I think I'll make him some pasta or potato tomorrow and see how it goes.

The mess of weaning is way worse than I expected. 🥴

@CharXo sorry I posted screenshots without taking her details off them! If you send me your email I can fwd them over as there's a helpful weaning guide which tells you different branded pouches and jars are safe and there's quite a few on there I didn't realise she could have x

We're only really doing purees and the melty puffs at the minute as I just didn't feel comfortable doing BLW and really wanted to enjoy the weaning experience. We usually blend whatever we're having for dinner if it's suitable. I'd say she has an average of 2 tablespoons twice a day, probably less if it's not something sweet or fruit😆

Sunshineclouds11 · 14/08/2024 20:44

@DmcinT

DD has just went into 6-9 baby grows this week, she had room belly and arm wise in 3-6 but the leg length got small.

3-6 clothes.

Cheetocat · 14/08/2024 23:33

My little boy is quite lean, still fits in a few 0-3 overalls/rompers, he wears an even mix of 3-6 and 6-9, he's 7.7kg/nearly 17lb and 66cm/nearly 26"

msp2023 · 15/08/2024 09:02

Thanks lovelies! I think BLW has just become so popular on social media, it skews my perception of what might be 'normal'. All I see are six month old babies eating finger foods all by themselves 😩

We're at 6.5 months, just over 8kg and moving into 6-9 month clothes (breaks my heart!)

Meeting · 15/08/2024 09:21

Wow my baby must be huge because she's currently outgrowing all her 6-9 months 😂

Ihatewinding · 15/08/2024 09:44

I can't tell whether my boy wants the food or the spoon to play with😅he just grabs at it when I'm trying to feed him purees so will try the smaller chunky self-feeding spoons, as was using the long munchkin heat safety ones. But think he might need BLW just as so difficult to spoon feed even if not my preference haha. He loves a nosh on fruit for sure but has gone off the melty puffs.

My boy is 7.9kg so 50th centile at just gone 6 months but been in 6-9 months since about 5 months, though will caveat this that they are his older sister's clothes which have been through the tumble dryer lots and shrunk a fair bit. I think I've bought him 2 hats and that's it clothes wise, plus some sleeping bag swaddles 😳

I keep meaning to email payroll as they are still paying me full pay when should have been half for the last 4 months, that's going to be painful to pay back! Especially as should be on SMP now. Anyone else having any issues? And when are people going back to work? I'm taking the full year and would like to do one family holiday before go back 🙏
