@FuppinNora @Emmaev agree, time is absolutely flying by now. I'm being induced early so just 11 weeks for me to go now.

I have another random question ladies - I've seen a few of you mention disposable pants when on the topic of hospital bags and things not to forget to buy etc. do you just mean cheap pants to throw away or do you actually mean like the Always lady pants / Tena lady pant things? Or is there someone else? TIA

MudandMoet · 08/06/2024 22:10

Something not someone- can't even blame the booze ๐Ÿ™„

MrsM89 · 08/06/2024 22:18

@rupertbear91 how are you? Any update?

WinsandSam · 08/06/2024 23:15

@rupertbear91 that sounds really scary! Hope all goes well for you and you don't have to wait 6hrs.

@MudandMoet I'm a FTM but my understanding is actually disposable ones. They make special ones for post birth. I've seen a few brands in boots

You could do either! I had these, similar to what they give in the hospital
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/302715758 as you can rip the sides and get them off lol. I also bought big black grannies in Primark and used proper thick sanitary towels in them for once I was home

Xur · 09/06/2024 07:31

@MudandMoet there are actual disposable undies, Iโ€™ve seen them, they are made from a very light stretchy material, something similar to cheese cloth and wound cloth. Itโ€™s light and airy like cheese cloth, but stretchy like the bands they put on wounds once theyโ€™re disinfected and wrapped. They are meant for when we make the diapers for post birth discharge, to be put inside and they act just as a holder, frame. Theyโ€™re almost transparent, well..like cheesecloth is.

@MrsM89 @WinsandSam thanks it was such a long day got to hospital after 111 refered me urgently at 9:30am and left at 7:30pm.
I passed out infront of the doctor whilst just sat on the bed with blood pressure of 48/60 which was pretty scary. There were no scans available so they have sent me home on heparin injections and I have to go back tomorrow at 8am to see the consultant and ultrasound my leg. If that shows nothing they want to do a full CT scan which carries risk to the baby as it's such high radiation so I will have to weigh up the pros and cons of potentially missing a clot if I don't have it.

We have tickets to the baby show today in Manchester I have been looking forward to for months ๐Ÿ˜ซ I may try and go for an hour but also really don't want to pass out there!

longingtobe23 · 09/06/2024 08:20

@rupertbear91 oh my goodness youโ€™re going through it! Hope youโ€™re feeling a bit better today! Easier said than done, Can you get a loan wheelchair from the event to help get you around if you do go!? Could call in advance and ask. But if you are worried Iโ€™d frustratingly skip it ๐Ÿ˜”
hoping it goes well tomorrow for you gets as much rest as you can x

MudandMoet · 09/06/2024 08:48

@WinsandSam @HRP1990 @Xur thanks I'll have a look online and in store, I'd not even seen or heard of these ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

@rupertbear91 hope you're doing okay this morning. I would imagine, in a place full of expectant ladies you'd have lots of help on hand/nearby if you did decide to go to the baby show for an hour or so and didn't feel right. Keep us posted on how you're doing xx

Xur · 09/06/2024 08:57

@rupertbear91 oh no!!! That is scary!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
To be honest, I just hope there are no clots, thatโ€™s worse than having a scan done, much worse.
you are in my thoughts ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

cd24x · 09/06/2024 08:58

@rupertbear91 so sorry you had to go through that yesterday. Hoping they can do ultrasound today so that you don't have to make a decision on a CT. If you feel up to it, a walk round baby show might take your mind off everything. Take lots of water and have lots of breaks.

@MudandMoet make sure you look specifically for the post birth maternity pants/pads. Tena/Always type ones can contain chemicals than can irritate post birth so they don't recommend. If any problems with post birth bleeding, the midwife may ask to inspect pads (๐Ÿคข) and the incontinence/sanitary type of pants can work too efficiently for them notice any issues.

Lillers · 09/06/2024 09:19

@rupertbear91 Iโ€™m so sorry youโ€™re going through that! I really hope the ultrasound gives you answers.

Lillers · 09/06/2024 09:25

Iโ€™ve just spent the morning buying loads of baby basic clothes online. Itโ€™s so hard to know how much to get, and what sizes! So I went for some basic sleep suits and bodysuits in newborn sizes, and then similar in 0-3 months. About 5-7 of each. Also got lots of muslins and socks, and some teeny newborn hats and mittens.

We also ordered the nursery furniture last night - IKEA have 20% off up to ยฃ500 this weekend so we hit send on the basket weโ€™ve been holding for ages!

Aaand my sister is selling us her next to me crib for ยฃ30 (she paid about ยฃ80 for it new). Itโ€™s not a big brand one but she really liked it so it feels like a good deal to me, and if I hate it I havenโ€™t lost out on much.

So it feels like suddenly things are getting a bit closer to being organised. Still feel like I have no idea what Iโ€™m doing, but ticking a few things off hopefully will make it easier to see what is still left to do.

TripleESept24 · 09/06/2024 10:33

On the sleep suits and vests......

I haven't got many in newborn! I have about 7/8 in 0-3 months but only 2 in newborn.

My daughter was 8 pound 11, and alot of the newborn is only up to 9 pounds or 10 pounds!! So I just don't wanna have loads of it if it might only fit them for a couple of weeks!

Anyone else feel the same on this? Maybe I should just get a couple more in case this baby is smaller!!

Cat2022 · 09/06/2024 10:50

@TripleESept24 Iโ€™m the same with the newborn stuff actually all I have in that size was the few from my daughter most never fit her and a couple only for a week. I have got a couple up to 1 month from Tesco and then rest 0-3 months.

I have a growth scan at 28 weeks so I think Iโ€™d only buy more if they thought he was going to be really small but even then itโ€™s so easy to get stuff after il probs just wait and see.

If she comes out small Asda is only round the corner!

MrsM89 · 09/06/2024 11:21

I have got newborn because despite being 8lb2 and 7lb7 both mine were short so the bigger sizes thier little legs would be so small they could get them up in to the tummy bit. Xx

Fik88 · 09/06/2024 11:40

@rupertbear91 so sorry you are going through that, hope you get some answers today.
I have everything sorted now for baby just need a mattress for cot but not in a rush to get that. I only bought 0-3 with my first and they were all huge on her she was 7lb 7oz. I got a few newborn bits for my son he was 8lb and fit in them for quite a bit. I've bought about 8-10 babygrows and Vests in newborn and 0-3 and a few outfit in both sizes.

SC126 · 09/06/2024 11:48

@TripleESept24 i haven't got much newborn sized stuff either. My son was 8lb 5oz so it just wasn't used for long at all.

WinsandSam · 09/06/2024 13:40

I've tried to get 7-10 of each age vests and sleep suits. No idea what they'll need but rather have too many than not enough.
So newborn/up to one month
0-3 months
3-6 months
Also got a few pairs of leggings and socks.
Need to get hats too.

Went on a bit of a second hand spree this weekend and got some bargains. Some new stuff too.

All feels very real now after being in denial/panic for the first 4 months!

Thanks everyone we made it for a little walk round the baby show and managed to get our carrier. Annoyingly the hospital messed up my heparin dosage so had to go back to the pharmacy and now on 2 injections a day. Forgot how painful they are ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ scan first thing tomorrow morning and then get to see the consultant so hopefully know more then

Iโ€™m going to my friendโ€™s wedding in August when Iโ€™ll be 32 weeks pregnant. Sheโ€™s Sikh and texted to check Iโ€™ll be ok to sit on the floor of the Gurdwara as that is how itโ€™s done, and I replied that itโ€™ll be fine, but now Iโ€™m a bit worried that it might not be fineโ€ฆ My husband will be there (but if I remember rightly heโ€™ll be sitting on the other side of the room). I remember the last Sikh wedding I went to being quite long and am definitely a bit concerned about sitting on the floor for a long time at 32 weeks pregnant. Although that being said, right now at 24 weeks I am at my most comfortable on the floor ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm not sure how you are for pain currently, but if you're anything like me it'll be the getting up rather than the sitting down that'll be the problem๐Ÿ˜‚
PGP is driving me mental atm, I have no idea how women cope!!

HRP1990 · 09/06/2024 16:36

Is anyone feeling like their breathing is abit restricted at the moment? Itโ€™s hard to describe, and I think itโ€™s the babies position sometimes.. but it feels like someone is pushing down on my chest and the top of my stomach at the same time? Itโ€™s temporary.. and pretty sure itโ€™s the babies head, but still. Itโ€™s like I need my inhaler but I donโ€™t!

SpicyMoth · 09/06/2024 16:38

@HRP1990 YES! Especially when I yawn, it just feels like there's not enough room in there for all my internals!
