@RosiePH I think we are going to do tongue and groove style panelling in some sort of dark blue shade then leave the top half and put a nice picture up. Our rooms a slightly awkward shape as thereโ€™s a part with sloped ceiling.

Lillers · 30/05/2024 10:00

Getting a train up to Manchester for a conference, going to be staying for 2 nights. Slept so badly last night because I kept getting in imaginary arguments with people sitting in my train seat ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Iโ€™m also in major paranoia mode about people breaking into my hotel room, so am carrying a gazillion anti-break-in gadgets that are a lot heavier than I would like to be carrying.

Why does pregnancy make us so paranoid?? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

SantasRubiksCube · 30/05/2024 11:49

Thanks to everyone who suggested Omeprazole for bad acid heartburn. I was taking so much Gavisgon that it was giving me terrible trapped wind and stomach ache, making me feel even more miserable ๐Ÿ˜ฃ I've managed to cut down on the Gavisgon now but has anyone else experienced horrible headaches from taking Omeprazole? May be a coincidence but since I've started them I've had a bad headache on and off, I can't seem to win ๐Ÿ˜‚

rupertbear91 · 30/05/2024 13:48

@SantasRubiksCube I'm on 40mg omoprozol I suffer from chronic migraine but my head hasn't been any worse since I started taking them I don't think

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 30/05/2024 14:46

@SantasRubiksCube I'm on omeprazole and haven't noticed any headaches - I did notice when I forgot to take it one morning that by the afternoon my throat was on fire and was making me sick and then the penny dropped it was cus I hadn't taken it! Amazing stuff lol!

My heartburn has really ramped up this week (22 wks) , had omeprazole with my 1st & it was amazing so I'll be back on that soon - feel like I'm just drinking gaviscon at the moment!!!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 31/05/2024 07:14

I don't know if you guys have discussed this already but......baby carriers!

The world of baby carriers. Anyone got one? What's your fave? Did you use one with previous kids?

I'm seeing the ergobaby 360 omni pop up alot

Ideally I want one from newborn so I can pop her in it for the school run etc

@BeautyAndTheBump1 we have a sling library near us where you can book a set of appointments, one prenatal where you can try out some carriers with their weighted dolls, rent one to use initially, and then another after baby arrives to see which one they are happiest in. Thinking about that as it feels like an important investment. Or my friend said she might send me a couple of the slings she used with her first as her second has different preferences! So a combination of trying things out probably

rupertbear91 · 31/05/2024 07:34

@BeautyAndTheBump1 I also have my eye set on the ergo 360 carrier as it keeps cropping up in my searches. I'm hoping they might have one to try at the baby show next week as I need something sturdy to use from newborn as he will have to come to the yard with me twice a day from as soon as I can muck out again and there is nowhere safe to leave his pram that's under cover of it's raining

Lillers · 31/05/2024 07:37

Safely made it on the train up to Manchester and survived my first night in the hotel. Got day 1 of the conference today and the exhaustion is hitting hard! Honestly the thought of sitting in a room all day having to listen to people talk, and then have my brain be alert enough for the thinking and discussing bits, is awful. I didnโ€™t sleep brilliantly last night (never do in hotels) and I genuinely donโ€™t know how Iโ€™m going to make it through ๐Ÿ˜ญ

mrsbgb · 31/05/2024 08:01

Good luck today @Lillers, I travel a lot with work and so share your pain here!

On carriers, weโ€™ve been looking at the BabyBjorn Harmony as it looks a bit easier to get baby in and out of, but I think our NCT coordinator runs a sling library so will probably take a look at that too! A friend has given us their old sling (one of the stretchy/wrap types) which is suitable for newborns so that will tide us over for a bit too.

PoppingUp · 31/05/2024 08:17

I've had the most awful heartburn for the last day or two- usually rennies sort it but I was up half the night with it last night. I've contacted my gp to try and get a prescription for some stronger medication but was wondering if anyone else sleeps on a pillow wedge or does anything else to raise their side of the bed at all?

@BeautyAndTheBump1 my friend heavily recommended the ergo embrace for 0-6 months and then the bigger ergo though did mention both their kids had different preferences so the sling libraries are worth a visit if you have one nearby.

SC126 · 31/05/2024 08:25

@BeautyAndTheBump1 defo check out a sling library if you have one close. My eldest was a velcro baby and hated his pram so I did a LOT of baby carrying. For the first few months I loved my close caboo sling. Its super easy to put on and off and comfier than a carrier. It just slips over your head and then you adjust the waist before slipping baby in. I used to wear it all day and just pop him in and out as needed. When he outgrew we had an ergobaby 360. I liked it but wouldn't say loved it. Was way more faffier to get on and off and struggled to get a good fit unless my husband was there to help. As he got bigger it was tough on back if he was on the front but getting him onto my back by myself was impossible ๐Ÿคฃ there's a fb group too where people sell second hand as some of these carriers are so expensive. The important thing is choosing a sling/carrier that provides the M hip placement for the child. Some of the popular ones dont always give a good hip shape!

Cat2022 · 31/05/2024 08:25

@BeautyAndTheBump1 love a carrier!

My favourite is the Tula free to grow but itโ€™s not the easiest to get on at first I used from around 6 months and still use now. A simple wrap sling is great for round the house in the early days - the close caboo is a good alternative ring sling. I am looking at the ergobaby embrace for newborn this time as Iv seen it has a good fit and is easy to get on and off.

The omni is popular but not always the best fit, a lot of people get it for outward facing however, thereโ€™s only actually a small weight range that they should face out for and also not when sleepy. The Tula explore is a lot more supportive fit and offers outward facing.

As others have said visiting a sling library is a good idea to find one that suits your own shape and also just watch social media as most influencers donโ€™t wear them properly/ have their babies in the right position.

longingtobe23 · 31/05/2024 08:50

@BeautyAndTheBump1 i had a baby bjorn newborn size last time - then little guy who was a chunk! Was too heavy for me to hold I was gutted. Not sure if it was the carrier that made it uncomfortable though but my shoulders would burn.
hoping to do it for as long as I can this time!
I went for an Artipoppe ๐Ÿซฃ I had a referral code which got me money off and I now have my own haha if anyone wants ยฃ50 off.
But it is a splash out expense. I read itโ€™s fine for the hip and approved etc!

I hear good things re ergobaby too! ๐Ÿฅณ

LSW82 · 31/05/2024 10:15

@BeautyAndTheBump1 I had to the ergo baby 360 for my son, I didn't use it much to be honest as he loved his pram but was handy for the odd country walk & was a life saver when on hol & waiting for the buggy at airpirt! I see myself using it a lot more this time as will have a toddler in tow, my sister is giving me her ergo baby embrace for the earlier days - she says it was her favourite baby purchase

HRP1990 · 31/05/2024 12:39

@longingtobe23 I used the artipoppe with my daughter and will use it this time too. We didnโ€™t carry her loads as he was happy to be put down.. but feel itโ€™ll be different this time with 2๐Ÿ™ˆThe designs are so nice too! Theyโ€™re abit more โ€œfashion-yโ€ if thatโ€™s your thing. Iโ€™m sure Tiba & Ma had a camouflage one which looked similar in design, obviously way cheaper too.

Weโ€™re away at the moment and itโ€™s so lovely. 27 degrees and sunny.. v surprised Iโ€™ve not swelled up yet. The only thing Iโ€™m struggling with is some hills with the pram lol I get so out of breath pushing my daughter up to the hotel ๐Ÿฅต

Caroline2023 · 31/05/2024 13:09

Hi all. Iโ€™ve been a bit quiet on here as not much to update on. Nearly 24 weeks now and due to go on our last baby free holiday tomorrow ๐Ÿฅณ

I am also looking at the Artipoppe if you have a code @longingtobe23

longingtobe23 · 31/05/2024 14:34

@Caroline2023 i have applied for the code for you! Will send it via DM once they approve :)
I think you have to sign up for the referral scheme I hadnโ€™t noticed I thought it would just be on the order ha! Oops.

But hopefully theyโ€™re quick xx

MudandMoet · 31/05/2024 17:20

Todays purchase for me was a Maxi Cosi Cassia electric baby swing chair. It's lovely and matches our decor perfectly. My DB's daughter is 3 months old and he says she absolutely loves it in hers so I'm hoping this baby will too. I feel like I'm getting there now with things finally but I absolutely can't decide on cot and changing unit/drawers colour. There are soooo many decisions to make aren't there?!

RosiePH · 31/05/2024 17:52

@longingtobe23 do you know how long the code lasts for? Iโ€™m going to buy one once baby is here! Spread the cost a little!

Happylittlebump · 31/05/2024 18:55

Has anyone heard before that it is advised to take a low dose aspirin daily for women who are a older age? I found out today.

Xur · 31/05/2024 19:33

@Happylittlebump yes that is a thing!

@MudandMoet I bought the babybjorn bouncer. I was thinking long and hard about what type of funchair to get for him, and opted for baby bjorn at the baby expo we attended.

My latest purchase is the Tiba&marl RAF Hold-all with the hooks. I already fitted it on my pushchair and it sits well with the angle of the handle.

I am having light pains today. I suspect itโ€™s ligaments, itโ€™s happening in random places. Doesnโ€™t happen same place twice, so it looks like Iโ€™m about to inflate soon. Itโ€™s been long since I last had this. Last time prior to 15 weeks.
I am still really not sure if I will be getting a sling at all. Iโ€™m not sure if Iโ€™ll need it, also not sure if itโ€™s good for my shoulders and posture. I am just sort of thinking about it in practical terms, we are having August/September babies. For 3 months at least we will not be interested in carrying them in sitting slings, because they will not hold the head yet. When they start holding the head, it will be winter and we will be wearing puffer jackets. How cosy is it going to be for us to put on a winter jacket/coat and then put a sling with the baby on and the baby is also going to be in winter clothes. When we we will be entering a mall or a shop for example, we will need to open the jacket for the baby because they get warm easily and itโ€™s not particularly healthy for them. Sounds very complicated.
next year our babies will be crawling in June/July and trying to walk in August/September. They will also be 10+ kilos then. Do we really need to carry that on our shoulders? Is it good for us? Iโ€™m really not sure.

Yes, I was put on 150mg from 4 weeks due to my age and it being my first pregnancy.

Lillers · 31/05/2024 19:47

How am I only 23 weeks - Iโ€™m literally bursting at the seams!! There is absolutely not space for 17 more weeks of growing!
I am so uncomfortable this evening. Luckily my hotel room is huge so Iโ€™m currently walking round and round it in circles just to try to feel a bit more comfortable.
