@MrsM89 next consultant appointment is 10th June, but fingers crossed if everything is looking okay (ie hasnโ€™t got worse!) at that one we shouldnโ€™t need any more extra scans as theyโ€™ll just deal with babyโ€™s kidney when he arrives. Is 25 week midwife appointment only for first timers?

rupertbear91 · 29/05/2024 17:45

@xur I am with you on the farting for Britain it's terrible! The midwife at my 24 week appointment today said she couldn't feel baby's position because my abs are too strong I swear it's from trying to hold in the gas ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I was asked preference for birth plan by consultant at 16 weeks and I know she wrote it on my notes but I'm high risk so I'm not sure if that then is just discussed later to decide if it's possible

RosiePH · 29/05/2024 18:01

Weโ€™ve decided on a name, but we arenโ€™t sharing it with family (despite their attempts to get us to reveal it and suggestions that itโ€™s totally unreasonable for grandparents to not know the name of their grandchild ๐Ÿ™„!).

Also purchased the Cybex car seat. Itโ€™s arriving in August.

Attempting to decorate the nursery this week, which has involved some disagreement over wallpapers! DH told me I was behaving quite badly ๐Ÿ˜‚ which snapped me out of my sulk when he didnโ€™t like my first choice. Blaming the pregnancy hormones because it did not warrant a 24 hour sulk! We have agreed no wallpaper now. Just panelling.

Iโ€™m not bothering with a steriliser. Hoping to breast feed but if that doesnโ€™t work out or we want to pump/combi feed then weโ€™ll just use a 99p bucket from B&Q and some Milton sterilising tablets. We have got a couple of MAM bottles already through various freebies and I think they are self-sterilising in the microwave anyway.

Has anyone experienced any milk leakage yet?! I think I might have leaked some early milk last night. Almost 23 weeks and Flo says this is a possibility around now.

MrsM89 · 29/05/2024 18:19

@RosiePH haha. This sounds like me. I won on having top half of one wall wallpapered hopefully much to dh disapproval lol
What colours are you going for? All our wood for Panneling arrived yesterday. Excited!

Cat2022 · 29/05/2024 18:44

@xur standard is around 36/37 weeks for the birth plan convo but my midwife has always mentioned the place of birth intermittently throughout.

I have my 25 week appt on Friday. Baby has been moving loads today and my ribs are sore.

cd24x · 29/05/2024 18:57

@mrsbgb I don't have 25w appt either and 2nd timer here. My next appts are 28w, I've got a whole week of them - GTT, growth scan, consultant and midwife. Work are going to love me!

PoppingUp · 29/05/2024 19:04

I don't have a 25 week appointment booked in and I'm a first timer. Will give them a ring tomorrow and check if that's an oversight...all my midwife appointments have been a week or two late due to midwife holidays so I wonder if they just decided to skip to the 28 week one. Feels a bit cheeky to do that without telling me that's what was happening though!

longingtobe23 · 29/05/2024 19:17

I have a 25 2nd timer but big gap? Not sure that helps!
but I think the measure and feel the bump? If I remember from last timeโ€ฆ

today the lounge took the hit - skirting cleaned, paint touched up, mopped like my life depended on it then ordered blind samples!

the wallpaper/ panelling @RosiePH @MrsM89 made me chuckle the one I wanted was coming out at ยฃ300 before we even got all the other bits ๐Ÿซฃ I have ordered similar samples if that too and hoping I find an alternative hah

SC126 · 29/05/2024 19:23

I had a 25 week app last week and I'm a 2nd timer. My next is now 28 weeks. However I did notice on my notes it says 25 week isn't needed for second+ pregnancies so I think it was a mistake which I didn't complain about.
@longingtobe23 they didn't measure bump. She told me they dont do it until 28 weeks ๐Ÿ™„

MudandMoet · 29/05/2024 19:36

@Xur my midwife told me at my last appointment (25 weeks) to do my birth plan. Not sure if everybody got the little bounty book with their first appointment but there's a little guide in there about it and on the NHS website I think I've seen a guide too. I've actually set myself some time tomorrow to do mine and finish the big Amazon order of 'baby bits' that grows by the day!

Xur · 29/05/2024 19:51

@MudandMoet I didnโ€™t get that. I got the badger app and it has a section for birth plan, I filled that in at my own time, some weeks agoโ€ฆBut seems like no oneโ€™s looking at that yet.

MrsM89 · 29/05/2024 20:04

I think 25w is meant for 1st pregnancies.

@longingtobe23 is that the wallpaper price? What's it like x

Xur · 29/05/2024 20:30

Ladies,
I hope you realise that 3 months ago we were all sat stressing here about passing the 1st trimester mark right?
And now weโ€™re sitting here chunky and sassy.. ๐Ÿคฃ

Lillers · 29/05/2024 21:26

Iโ€™m a first timer and have a 25 week appointment next week, but I was told to book it myself and have it with the GP.

longingtobe23 · 29/05/2024 21:32

How weird different areas different rules I guess!
also gutted they wonโ€™t measure bump for a bit longer Iโ€™m worried Iโ€™m huge now sheโ€™s popped from no where haha! Goes l will know soon enough
โ€ฆ
@MrsM89 I added a pic of the paper nothing too grand guess I just picked a pricey name! But luckily tonnes of stripes on their way to me for a better price.
I could just do a feature wall if all else fails with a mix of panelling โ€ฆ I was fun when I started now Iโ€™m sweating plenty of time though everything just seems out of stock or 12 weeks lead time for the furniture too!? ๐Ÿ˜…

Emmaev · 29/05/2024 22:00

@Xur yes on the farting, itโ€™s horrendous. The smell is ungodly. My digestive system has well and truly slowed down.

Ive had a 25 week appointment as a 2nd timer only due to complications with my daughter. I made it just shy of 34 weeks with her and a birth plan was never mentioned. Not that her birth was anything like I planned.

My consultant asked me what I would like to happen when I saw her at 24 weeks though. But Iโ€™m very open to what will be will be. Im not too bothered about a birth plan. Having our first just made me realise how unpredictable birth is.

TripleESept24 · 29/05/2024 22:58

I'm 25 weeks on Friday.

Do people still have really active days with lots of kicks and then quiet ones??

A few nights ago she was non stop kicking through a whole film we watched. Tonight, hardly anything!

I've found if I give my tummy a prod and a shake now she will give a little kick back. But she's not crazy active like she has been.

Are as still ok to be getting quiet days?? When is it we should start worrying about days with not much movement?

Also I have. 25 week appointment but they only gave it me as I had my daughter 20 years ago so feels like first time all over again and it's my partner's first baby!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 30/05/2024 06:11

I have quiet days too and more active days - it seems to be that is beginning to become part of the 'normal routine' for us!

OP posts:
SC126 · 30/05/2024 06:36

@Emmaev im not bothered about any birth plan either. My one last time was laughable when I think back.

SC126 · 30/05/2024 06:37

@TripleESept24 im defo still having quieter days. I can still feel him regularly so not concerned but overall less kicks or less strong kicks some days. Then like the other day he was non stop all day!

Xur · 30/05/2024 07:04

@TripleESept24 yes. I noticed that the โ€œpatternโ€ might not be over a 24 hour period, but maybe even 48 and 72 hour period. I have noticed tendencies that occur every two days and some every 3 days. I still have movements every day, they can just be lighter or more intensive at various times of day. But I had my midwife appt on Tuesday and I did mention about the pattern, I said I am starting to think if there is a pattern for him then its over 24 hour period. He also moves less when in loud spaces and thereโ€™s lots of noise and strangers voices around. When Iโ€™m in silence he tends to move more.

My midwife said that yes, pattern doesnโ€™t have to be 24 hours, behaviour pattern can be cycling over more than 24 hours. So here we go.

mrsbgb · 30/05/2024 07:40

@TripleESept24 Iโ€™m also 25 weeks on Friday and itโ€™s the same - some days really boisterous and others much quieter (but still moving). I definitely notice him moving more first and last thing when Iโ€™m in bed, but daytime is a bit hit and miss - I mentioned this to my midwife yesterday though and she didnโ€™t seem concerned by this, sounds like itโ€™s quite normal hopefully.

Cat2022 · 30/05/2024 08:22

I only had 4 hours sleep last night and I am not sure how Iโ€™m going to make it through work today as my eyes are burning in my head. So tempted to tell them Iโ€™m sick and sleep but feel like I canโ€™t as only have 10 working weeks (excl holidays) left.

TripleESept24 · 30/05/2024 08:45

Thanks everyone seems we all.still have quieter movement days!!

I am off to a family funeral today, going to see lots of family I haven't seen for a year and some even longer! Think they'll be surprised at the size of me ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿคฃ

RosiePH · 30/05/2024 09:04

@MrsM89 i had hoped for some lovely borastepeter nature-themed wallpaper Iโ€™d seen on Instagram, but DH thought it looked old-fashioned. Which did surprise me as he picked William Morris wallpaper with the panelling in our bedroom! So weโ€™ve settled on no wallpaper, and a slightly off-white for the walls with Parma Gray (which is a chalky blue) for the panelling by F&B.
