@longingtobe23 it's hit you... it's no fun! But nice to know others are experiencing this. Not sure the heat helps. My fingers feel tight so not sure if they're swelling too?

Ordered myself a 6ft paddling pool today for the summer. Can wait to lie in it and do nothing

longingtobe23 · 20/05/2024 07:55

@WinsandSam yes they do feel tight! I wondered if it was because I went for short square nails when I had them done as my long almond shape ones werenโ€™t helping doing DIY / but they definitely โ€œfeelโ€ stiff and chubbier!

uh oh! I did swell up with my son when it was august 2015! As it was a hot oneโ€ฆ Iโ€™m secretly hoping for a cooler summer for my own benefit (but I wonโ€™t be telling non pregnant people that) ๐Ÿ˜‚

WinsandSam · 20/05/2024 08:06

@longingtobe23 maybe the right fat fingers are a sign of what's to come. Yes let's hope for a sunny but not too hot summer so we can survive

HRP1990 · 20/05/2024 16:30

Iโ€™ve been using a Gua Sha on my face to hopefully prevent any puffing/water retention lol. I know itโ€™s probably inevitable, but anything I can do to stop the puff ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿซฃ

Hi all, Iโ€™m nearly 26 weeks now and still canโ€™t identify a pattern with movements. Some days I get loads and then others I get little or none. Midwife has said to call assessment unit for check for anything outside of what is normal, but what if we canโ€™t identify whatโ€™s normal?

wednesday and Thursday were really active for movements, but then Friday was really quiet. Saturday after food was really active again and actually saw my tummy move for first time, then yesterday was a bit quieter and today has been really quiet (just a little movement this morning). Iโ€™m not sure what to think?

longingtobe23 · 20/05/2024 17:17

The temps gone down certainlyโ€ฆ and my fingers look more normal ๐Ÿ˜‚
also drank loads of water and two cool showers and ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป the belly has gone down loads .. looking less 32 weeks and back to 22 weeks x

longingtobe23 · 20/05/2024 17:48

Put this up to check it fit in with the new bed etcโ€ฆ didnโ€™t wash any of the sheets etc but was too tempting to see my view in a few short months.
cant believe itโ€™s nearly June and theyโ€™ll be here in September ๐Ÿ˜…

@longingtobe23 ah that makes it so real. We got our next to me crib from my partners brother this weekend and ordered a new mattress and got a load of clothes from their loft so I did a big baby stuff wash today. It felt so surreal hanging it all up to dry like soon this is my life!

TripleESept24 · 20/05/2024 19:28

Tonight the horrendous constipation is back in full force!!!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜” Sat on the toilet for 20 mins straining unable to pass anything! And I've had curry on Saturday night and tonight! ๐Ÿ˜‘ Just had some prunes!! But I'm wondering can it also be bought on by stress?

Super stressed at work at the moment!! I work at an insurance brokers, in the private client team doing personal home insurance etc. There is me and one other girl who is straight out of uni and it's her first job, so obviously a bit slower!

She had holiday to take or she would lose it, and I had a holiday booked and because of this we have just fallen soooooo behind with our renewals! Been playing catch up now for over a week and have not caught up at all really and on top of being behind, lots of new business quotes coming in. ๐Ÿ˜” And I also have two days off for a family funeral next week and it's bank holiday!! Really struggling and finding every day super stressful and can't see any light at the end of the tunnel.... I just want to be done with work for a bit and have baby girl in my arms!! it's exhausting now! ๐Ÿ˜”

Anyone else really struggling already??

HRP1990 · 20/05/2024 20:03

Does anyone have any tips for travelling/flying when pregnant? Were going to Greece next week with our toddler and Iโ€™ve not been pregnant in Summer before so Iโ€™m hoping to be as prepared as possible!?

Iโ€™m seeing the midwife for my 25 week appt the day before we go so going we can give me a fit to fly or equivalent of, letter..

Ive been told about compression socks and, walking around a lot mid flight and to buy a handheld fan.. anything else?

I cannot wait for a week in the sun (not sure how relaxing itโ€™ll be with a little one, but hoping my partner can pick up my slack this time!)

Completely understand if people don't want to share or even have no idea as I know weight gain isn't an easy topic for some so please bypass if so.

I'm just wondering what weight gain is normal for some of us around 24w? I feel like I've not put on what I did last 2 pregnancies but my memory maybe wrong and all the gain may be yet to come.

Xx

@HRP1990 I'm currently in Ibiza with my toddler. Flew 24+1 and flying back 25+1. Didn't need a letter to fly but I'm not showing that much, I wore something loose just in case as didn't want hassle at the airport.

Was told by my doctor to wear compression socks and walk a lot on the flight.

MrsM89 · 20/05/2024 21:33

@TripleESept24 i think I've put on about 11lbs so not much different. Definitely feels all bump here too. Xx

Xur · 20/05/2024 21:42

@MrsM89 I have read and been told ladies on the thinner end would gain more normally.
I was averaging 53โ€ฆ54kg prior to pregnancy.
I am 165cm. I last weighted myself on 12 weeks and I was 61,5kg. Meaning I gained 8 kilos in the first trimester. After that I stopped weighing myself because I realised I will loose my shit if I keep weighting. (As a recovered anorexic) Bear in mind I eat healthy, I never had the beige period, Iโ€™m not big on sweets and I attend gym every 2 days.
Now Iโ€™m judging based on my appearance and it looks like apart from very obvious belly and boob growth Iโ€™ve not gained much on top of that. I am still wearing the same clothes.

My friend who was also slender ended up gaining 20kg.

Another friend who had some excess fat on the belly prior to getting pregnant, ended up with just 4-5 extra kilos after the pregnancy.

It is all so varied and depends on our metabolism and natural body response, I am not really sure if thereโ€™s any point to compare weight gain per X amount of weeks gestation.
Baby weight, fluid and placenta is just one bit to it. Thereโ€™s also a metabolic response and cravings and lifestyle to account for.

Edited

Agree, and a friend of mine put on 3 stone!!!!!

Everyone is different. X

WinsandSam · 20/05/2024 21:46

@MrsM89 I was wondering the same today after weighing myself.

I was 10st 7 before pregnancy. I'm now 22 weeks and this morning was 11st 5...so 12lbs so far.

I believe we're meant to gain 1lb a week now.

Like @TripleESept24 I've been told I'm very "neat" so is all in my belly. Sure my hips have got wider but the rest has stayed the same

longingtobe23 · 20/05/2024 22:28

Iโ€™m accounting for sickness - and after Christmas indulgence so I probably just evened out haha Iโ€™ve put in 2.4 kg
just over 5lbs

but Iโ€™m expecting 0.5-1lb a week from 24 weeks totally normal and expected and okay!
I didnโ€™t even consider it first pregnancy not sure what I weighed at start or end
but I will try harder this time to just be sensible ๐Ÿ˜…

Lillers · 21/05/2024 08:27

Oh man it was over a week since I was last sick. Was feeling a bit queasy this morning but nothing too bad. Oh god I just went into the staff toilet at work and it smelled so bad I threw up immediately ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

I swear the smell has got stuck in my nostrils: please, fresh air! Fresh air! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

PoppingUp · 21/05/2024 08:45

@Khanga27 my midwife said it's normal not to feel fully established patterns until up to 28 weeks but also stressed that from then on we should always call triage if we had any concerns- they'd rather hear from us and give us advice directly than have us worrying and guessing and delaying getting in touch! She even gave me a wee bracelet that you're meant to put somewhere visible that reminds you to call triage if you're worried about anything!

I'm 23 weeks and have had some real big movement days followed by some quieter days with just a few kicks here and there. It's easy to think that every day should be a 'big' movement day but I suppose that isn't actually the pattern for me yet, just the exception.

This sounds like me too, I am 22 weeks and some days itโ€™s like she is doing somersaults and big kicks and other days little movements x x

rupertbear91 · 21/05/2024 18:01

I'm the same with the movements at the minute. I was checked in triage last week after a few quiet days but his heart was strong. Some days like yesterday he partied all day long he was even making mini waves in the bath he was kicking my belly so hard but today I have only had a few odd kicks here and there. It's hard when it's not consistent yet.

HRP1990 · 21/05/2024 19:09

Iโ€™m 24 weeks tomorrow and definitely donโ€™t have any clear pattern, but I am feeling things daily which is the main thing. Having an anterior placenta is tricky as the kicks arenโ€™t always obvious vs having a posterior placenta.. I recognise them more when Iโ€™m sitting/less busy vs working and looking after my daughter?

On a side note, does anyone have the linea nigra yet? I had it with my first but no sign this time around unless itโ€™s too early?

PoppingUp · 21/05/2024 19:19

@HRP1990 I was actually coming on to post about the lina nigra! I spotted a faint line for the first time today! I think how soon you see it varies quite a bit depending on your complexion- though saying that I'm pretty pasty and was really surprised that it was visible on me...

Great minds! How are along are you? My pregnancy app said something about it and it made me realise I donโ€™t have one, yet!

I have olive skin and tan really easily so with my daughter it was SO prominent and weirdly off centre!? It lasted months after she was born too lol
