@Emmaev weโ€™ve got fetal medicine scans every three weeks, which are functioning as growth scans as well, from 20 weeks - next one is Wednesday!

TripleESept24 · 16/05/2024 19:31

Shaving down there is sooooo hard already and there is 17 weeks still to go ๐Ÿคฃ it's only gonna get worse!!

longingtobe23 · 16/05/2024 20:02

@TripleESept24 ... I feel your pain on that. I was highly surprised as Ive not much of a bump but it was a full on work out and I usually swing my leg up and that was not going to work!! I had to lie down after ๐Ÿซ

I do usually wax but I am worried it will hurt more when pregnant ... Any ideas anyone!?

Also my scan department seem to be awful - I had to chase my 20 week one and then they scheduled for me go have 32 week one. But no news since ๐Ÿ˜’ guess I'll be chasing that one next

WinsandSam · 16/05/2024 20:29

@longingtobe23 funny you say that about waxing! I found it very painful the first time I had it done and didn't know I was pregnant.. since then fine. However, I think because I tense I find it gives me craps/pains/stabbing pains lower tummy. So makes me nervous

Emmaev · 16/05/2024 20:43

Thanks girls. I ended up getting my scan date through earlier for the 11th June, excited to see her again!

@TripleESept24 yes!! Itโ€™s so difficult, Iโ€™m glad I donโ€™t have to see it, itโ€™s gotta be an absolute mess.

LSW82 · 16/05/2024 20:55

I Had my 20wk scan today (20+1) , all was well, & we're having a girl. She was kicking away like crazy - another one here with anterior placenta so was getting worried I hadn't felt much but was the same with my son too.
Also found out I get extra growth scans due to my age which I never got last time so next one is 28 wks ๐Ÿฅฐ

SpicyMoth · 16/05/2024 21:59

I'm not due any more scans afaik which I'm a bit sad about, I know I shouldn't be as that likely means everything is going just fine and dandy so if anything I should be grateful, but damn, I just want to see him all the time! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

My DM (who is positively losing her mind with excitement over her first grandchild) gifted us a private 3D scan today at 24 +2.

He's still got some baby fat to put on, but all in all - I think he's rather cute if I do say so myself - Even with the slight janky-ness that comes with a 3D scan!

We got a super cute few seconds long clip of him having a good yawn in there too, which I adore - He's also definitely a thumb sucker already (Just like I was! God I hope that doesn't become a habit for him to have to kick >.<).

He's coming in at 1lb 11oz as of today, I'm 4ft11 and my DH is 6ft2, so I'm expecting this baby may well end up being absolutely huge in 3 months time - I pray he doesn't tear me asunder! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜ฌ

MudandMoet · 16/05/2024 22:19

@Emmaev my next scan date is the 11th June too ๐Ÿ˜

I just get my husbands beard trimmer and put the lowest guard on and trim away almost blind now to keep it somewhat neat... *await a future post were I've taken my lips off!!!

@LSW82 aww congratulations and welcome to the girl club ๐ŸŽ€๐Ÿ’—

Lovely pics of your beautiful little boy @SpicyMoth ... do thumb suckers not have a dummy at all ? I always think babies look the cutest sucking their thumbs but appreciate it's probably hard to stop.

rupertbear91 · 16/05/2024 22:31

@SpicyMoth what cute pics. I'm also not due any more scans so trying to convince myself it's a good use of money to go for a 3d/4d scan in a months time to break up the wait to meet him!

SpicyMoth · 16/05/2024 22:46

@MudandMoet bit of an embarrassing admission here - but I never had a dummy when I was a baby/toddler and I've never been able to stop thumb sucking >.<
I'm mid 20's and still do it unfortunately, especially when stressed, I just can't break the habit no matter how hard I try (and I've tried everything)- I have an aunt who's in her 70's who's the same - It's genuinely one of my biggest fears for my wee one silly though that sounds!

When I was at 16 weeks I'd gone and got special mitts to prevent it and dummies etc bought already to try and get him on those instead.
I just figured at least that's something you can wean & take away, whereas a thumb... Well.. You can't exactly lop it off xD

Awh Tysm @rupertbear91 !!
Honestly I really would highly recommend it, the whole experience was lovely and they gave me a USB with loads of video and loads of extra pictures as well as the printed out ones I posted above - They also let you have more than just one other person in the room so my DH, my mum and my step-dad-to-be all got to come in and see the little man too so if you have any other family members who'd love to come in and see the live scan, it's 100% worth it imo!

Emmaev · 17/05/2024 07:14

What beautiful photos @SpicyMoth 3d scans are absolutely magical and what a lovely keepsake. We had one at 25 weeks with DD and we still look at it now 8 years on. Unfortunately I donโ€™t think weโ€™ll have one this time due to the amount of extra growth scans Iโ€™m having.

On the leg cramp chat from the other day did anyone find a cure? Iโ€™ve been waking up with severe leg cramp where Iโ€™ve had to walk it off or point my toes up. My calf has been so tight the last few days. My OH seems to think Iโ€™m dehydrated but Iโ€™m drinking so much. Also read that eating bananas helps?

tryingfortwo2 · 17/05/2024 08:48

@TripleESept24 @longingtobe23 @Emmaev WooWoo cream! Life changing. The wee spatula thing is crap, I have a dedicated loofah type thing for the removal, but itโ€™s amazing! Smooth as a dolphin.

I think the leg cramps are just an unfortunate side effect of pregnancy. I had it in both my previous pregnancy's and couldn't find anything that solved the problem and some googling led me to believe it's "just one of those things" ๐Ÿฅฒ

I found what helped in the night (which is usually when I got it) was pointing my toes to my knees. Iโ€™m also taking magnesium glycinate in this pregnancy and am yet to have a leg cramp 6 months in so, I dunno, maybe thatโ€™s helping? The additional magnesium? Just a thought! ๐Ÿฉท

Xur · 17/05/2024 11:45

I am running on low energy, yesterday I had a sudden onset of tiredness in the evening. Iโ€™ve woken up with the same feeling of tiredness, but accompanied with like a weird feeling of heaviness, sadness inside. I think itโ€™s hormonal. Debating leaving work early today because I just..cannot today. I still have to find energy to go to gym today.

longingtobe23 · 17/05/2024 13:31

@Xur rest ! Take a stroll if you just โ€ฆ but donโ€™t force yourself into anything and if you can leave definitely do!

not taking my own advice as I take down a bed and vax the carpet and repaint walls for new deliveries tomorrow ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

RosiePH · 17/05/2024 14:31

I am finding clothes so difficult right now! Pre-pregnancy I was either a 10 or 12, depending on the cut of the item, with size 34D boobs.

Iโ€™ve not really got a big bump yet. Just a lumpy tummy haha. And my boobs have got huge and underwires bras seem to be a really unflattering shape on me.

I find size 12 maternity clothes too big and size 10 too small at the moment, but most of my normal clothes are starting to lift up around the middle. So I seem to look like the Trunchball, rather than the glamorous Seraphine maternity models I had hoped to emulate ๐Ÿ˜‚ just quite broad-chested on little legs haha

Lillers · 17/05/2024 14:53

@RosiePH Iโ€™ve found that lots of the maternity clothes Iโ€™ve bought are super baggy around the top (despite me also having giant boobs - before pregnancy I was size 12 and 32DD and they just keep growing!) but Iโ€™ve found that just normal floaty summer dresses are pretty comfy at the minute, as long as the waistband doesnโ€™t cut across the bump.

Lillers · 17/05/2024 14:55

@Xur If you do go to the gym, take it easy. Iโ€™d advise not going at all if you need to rest, but I also understand that it might be something that helps you unwind at the end of the week, so do whatโ€™s best for you, but donโ€™t push it.

HRP1990 · 17/05/2024 15:05

@RosiePH i just discovered a new (to me) pregnancy brand called Beyond Nine. So many lovely linen pieces catered to pregnancy and beyond - hence the name I suppose! From the front you wouldnโ€™t even know I was pregnant, the top and trousers I ordered are so flattering!

All the other maternity bits Iโ€™ve bought previously I went up a few sizes because I everything to fit me when Iโ€™m 8/9 months, not just at 5. So might be best if it is a little baggy at the moment?

Cinai · 17/05/2024 15:14

Those who are further along or have one alreadyโ€ฆwhat do baby kicks feel like? For the past week, Iโ€™ve been getting something that feels like muscle twitches in my belly. For about 5 - 10 minutes at a time, often in the evening. Itโ€™s usually around the waistline. Is this the baby? 22 weeks today

malimoon · 17/05/2024 15:45

My partner and I have told each other we won't buy any more baby clothes just now as we kept indulging on Vinted but I just popped into the charity shop on my way to the supermarket today and they had a huge bin of stuff for 25p an item... Who am I to refuse a pristine little JoJo Maman jacket for 25p (plus several other items cough cough). And then the next shop had a Seraphine summer dress in my size for ยฃ6.50! Hashtag saving the planet hashtag saving the pennies hashtag winning at life ๐Ÿ˜…

malimoon · 17/05/2024 15:46

Also @Cinai I'm not an expert as I'm first time round also and a week behind you but this sounds like baby movement to me

SC126 · 17/05/2024 15:48

@Cinai definately could be start of feeling baby! When they get stronger you will actually see your belly twitch. I've got a very active little one and I've been able to push down and feel actual limbs moving and kicking this week. Hes also more active in the evenings.

I am one day ahead of you, and yesterday for the first time I felt exactly this! Iโ€™ve also felt it today. Theyโ€™re ever so slight, and Iโ€™ve only noticed them because Iโ€™m sitting very still on my laptop while WFH.

Do you have an anterior placenta too?

Cinai · 17/05/2024 16:09

Sounds like itโ€™s the baby then ๐Ÿ˜Š @Decaffe โ€ฆ.Iโ€™m confused about my placenta position, Iโ€™ve been told by two different consultants that itโ€™s anterior at 16 and 19 weeks when I had scans and asked about the position, but my 20 weeks scan report said itโ€™s posterior. No idea whoโ€™s right.
