@LSW82 I've never been a fizzy drink person until pregnancy! I buy the Aldi version in cans and can confirm it's delicious ๐Ÿคค

tryingfortwo2 · 14/05/2024 22:10

@WinsandSam big fans of tropical blast in this house too ๐Ÿ˜‚ but sometimes it doesnโ€™t agree with me just now - another pregnancy joy!

BadLobster · 14/05/2024 22:16

Had my 20 week scan today. All looking good, except the sonographer couldnโ€™t get a good look at nose/lips and kidneys, so Iโ€™ve got to go back next week. This will be my fifth scan despite being pretty healthy because this baby is a little troll and wonโ€™t cooperate!

We also got her to write down the babyโ€™s sex but we havenโ€™t looked at it yet. Not sure how long weโ€™ll lastโ€ฆ

longingtobe23 · 15/05/2024 10:10

Admitting defeat on the jeans today ladies 22 weeks so they gave me good innings โ€ฆ I can feel baby pushing up against them rolling around, she just be after some more space!
so a next day delivery is pending I believe ๐Ÿซฃ
It is so lovely to feel her moving though
I wanted to escape buying work maternity clothes as I am due to finish on July but hey Ho I have been in the same clothes for weeks so I do look a bit like a tramp ๐Ÿ™ˆ

@BadLobster glad your scan went well! I had mine this morning and everything was fine, hurray. Little guy had hiccups which was funny to see!

rupertbear91 · 15/05/2024 11:11

@BadLobster that is very controlled of you not to look I wouldn't have the patience!

I made it to maternity triage this morning to get baby's heart checked currently sat in the waiting room expecting a long wait ๐Ÿ˜ซ already been told off for not bringing my notes with me too ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

Waitinggame42023 · 15/05/2024 11:16

So lovely to see everyone doing so well ๐Ÿ˜Š.
Just wondered if anyone had some advice- we had our 20 week yesterday and were given a very basic copy of the scan results (without percentile measurements etc).
We looked them up online and it seems that the baby's femur length is tiny (between 3 and 6% depending on where you look) whilst his head circumference and abdominal measurement a just below 50th centile. I was also scanned by a trainee if that's relevent, a more experienced sonographer did check over at the end but didn't double check measurements.

We already realised it was small whilst in the waiting room for the consultant app straight after, so we asked her and she said they only worry if it's under 3rd percentile, and it's probably because I'm 5ft4 (which I appreciate isn't exactly tall but not THAT short, and DH is 6ft1). I get that 3% is their trigger, but to be so close to the mark with not even any acknowledgement or assurance is a concern.

We just feel a bit dismissed, I'm already undergoing a 2 week referral for possible colorectal cancer so this has just pushed DH in to a major stress and anxiety.

Has anyone else had this sort of issue? I appreciate it's probably nothing, but we have no way of finding out if it is or isn't!

MrsM89 · 15/05/2024 13:01

@Waitinggame42023 did they see anything of concern on the scan or ask you to come back? I'm sure if they were worried they would have you back to be checked again. Like you say maybe out if measured by trainee.
Hope all goes well for your other referral, what a worrying time Xx

Cat2022 · 15/05/2024 14:30

@Waitinggame42023 the sonographer I had said that growth is easier to check at 28 weeks so at 20 weeks anything in the normal range is okay. Do you have any growth scans booked?

She pretty much said their growth isnโ€™t linear so up to that point thereโ€™s a large variation of โ€œnormalโ€

WinsandSam · 15/05/2024 15:21

@Waitinggame42023 I haven't even looked into what any of this means?! The FL on mine is also very small. Not sure if that reassures you?

I'm sorry to hear you're having to go for testing which must be really scary!

For any thong wearers, I managed to find my maternity thongs and tried them out today - they are of course, incredibly unflattering as you'd probably expect๐Ÿ˜‚

However if you're like me and find regular non-thonged pants to be uncomfortable from wearing thongs for far too long, I do actually recommend them as they're insanely comfortable, don't roll down over bump, and the extra material feels like it adds some really nice bump support.

I very much feel like Bridget Jones though! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

HRP1990 · 15/05/2024 18:00

@SpicyMoth are they going over your bump?! There is no way anything is going over mine unless theyโ€™re being tucked in under my boobs ๐Ÿ˜‚

longingtobe23 · 15/05/2024 18:07

Told some students - it was lovely. Explained why I wear the same trousers in rotation at the moment ๐Ÿซฃ๐Ÿ˜‚

But thatโ€™s that! All out in the air, felt really nice ha!

@Waitinggame42023
my little ones head was much smaller than the rest at the last scan.
i couldnโ€™t work it out for sure but 5-9th and then body and femur etc were all 50th - I was worried when I spotted that but they said nothing at the 20 week scan. So I will assume theyโ€™ll check as I have another booked at 32 ๐Ÿ™‚
If you get another - ask them to check again x

Surprisingly yes!
(I'm an absolutely tiny 4ft 11 and just hit 24 weeks so my bump is frankly HUGE compared to others who have posted theirs! ๐Ÿ™ˆ I feel utterly enormous compared to the supermodel-esque bump pics here! ๐Ÿ˜…)
Though they really are NOT flattering in the slightest, I'm not exaggerating when I say I feel like Bridget Jones, though I really wish I was ๐Ÿ˜‚

They're not too dissimilar to these but in black, and I don't think they were from boohoo! The comfort though is genuinely SO so good, chef's kiss to them ๐Ÿ‘Œ

MudandMoet · 15/05/2024 18:35

Pleased everyone seems to be doing well. Can't believe how small some bumps are, I look like I've swallowed a beach ball already.

25 weeks today! Had appointment with midwife this morning and all is looking good. Made an appointment for local antenatal class 1x3 hour lesson done at a nearby leisure centre but that's not until 6th July. Have my diabetes test booked and a scan for 4 weeks time and then another scan at 32 week and one at 36 weeks. Not sure if this is normal or due to bicornuate uterus or age maybe.

Also at the request of the midwife today I rang DWP (I didn't think I'd be entitled to anything so wasn't going to bother) and I am in fact entitled to 7 whole weeks maternity allowance with going back to work soon after baby is born with using KIT days. Better than nothing I guess! I'm sure when I actually apply next month, computer will say no or something!!

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 15/05/2024 18:37

Anyone using a pregnancy pillow?

I have the dream genii from my last pregnancy which I absolutely loved and was sad to stop using it when I was no longer pregnant...but this time round I can't stand it ๐Ÿ˜ซ I end up waking up in the middle of the night and launching it out of bed ๐Ÿ˜‚

@Waitinggame42023 as far as I know the 20W scan mainly focuses on organs, blood circulation and backbone as that indicates pathologiesโ€ฆtypical sizing of femurs, heads, bellies is charted and focused from week 24 onwards as far as I am aware. At my 20W scan they didnโ€™t even measure the femur, nor did I get like percentile measurements. They just looked at the baby saw him actively kicking and stretching the feet out and moving the hands and said โ€œokay letโ€™s move on the โ€œ I just checked the measurements up on google and saw that mineโ€™s in the 5th percentile but I was also aware that if it would be worrisome then they would let me know. For mine they only stated head, abdomen and estimated weight and it was on the app only, as pure numbers.
If I were you I would not freak out about the femur. I think they largely look at the proportionality of the whole body at that stage. They should, however pay closer attention to this on the next scan.

SpicyMoth · 15/05/2024 18:41

@BeautyAndTheBump1
I'm loving my DreamGenii atm, but it is very fiddly when you're trying to switch sides in bed honestly, especially with pelvic pain and I found myself doing the exact same as you!
Have you tried using it by folding it over itself to double the cushioning? I've found that's helped a lot honestly, might be worth a shot before forking out for a different one, they can be damn expensive from browsing about online ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

SC126 · 15/05/2024 18:42

@BeautyAndTheBump1 my sister gave me her pregnancy pillow but I find it so uncomfy so instead I bought a cheap V shaped pillow and pillowcase and it probably cost me ยฃ15 in total. It's so much comfier. I love it ๐Ÿคฃ

HRP1990 · 15/05/2024 18:50

Omg I love my pregnancy pillow! We went away at the weekend and the apartment had ONE pillow, so I couldnโ€™t even use that support and I slept awful ๐Ÿฅน

@SpicyMoth ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™m not tall by any means (5โ€3) I also a huge bump due to it being my second and being 23 weeks. P.S I wonder why there is so backside picture on the boohoo website haha because theyโ€™re so unflattering!? I am however down to trying anything that is ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป

Xur · 15/05/2024 18:50

I literally use decorative pillows and plush toys to sleep in comfort. I would sometimes put a pillow between my legs, a plush pig under my belly (the shape is perfect) and a Japanese cat between my arms. I donโ€™t even think Iโ€™ll be investing into pregnancy pillows, because individual items I can freely move about for my comfort or position, however one big pillow is fixated in the shape itโ€™s made. I know it might be ridiculous Iโ€™m a grown adult sleeping with toys but itโ€™s cosy. Sometimes I put the cat just under my belly, close to leg.

Does the back view not come up for you?! That's tragic, it truly is a masterpiece to behold in all it's glory imo ๐Ÿ˜‚

Here's a screenshot for you to enjoy!

Definitely not what I'd call "sexy" imho๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‚

@MudandMoet I too have a scan at 32 and 37 weeks!! I had them booked in when went in for my additional scan at 22 weeks!

WinsandSam · 15/05/2024 19:58

Like some of you I hated a pregnancy pillow! Too big and bulky. @SC126 I also got the ยฃ15 V pillow and it's divine!! Occasionally have a pillow in between my legs but I'm cosy

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 15/05/2024 19:59

@SpicyMoth No I've not tried that! My issue is I toss and turn 50 thousand times throughout the night and when I keep having to arrange the pillow every time I turn over I get angry ๐Ÿ˜‚

@SC126 silly question, do you have the v pillow in-between your legs or have the v to the top with your head on it?

@Xur that sounds good, I wish I had things I could use! I did try one of my decorative pillows one night but that also annoyed me ๐Ÿ˜‚
