People here picked up wearing parachute panties after having kids but Iโ€™m just now with my first, but I been constantly keeping parachutes for when Iโ€™m in the mood for them. Mine are not black though, mine have little flowers ๐Ÿคฃ ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒบ

HRP1990 · 13/05/2024 21:28

Has anyone had any cramp yet? I forgot all about it being a symptom, until I woke randomly in the middle of the night with cramp in my calf! Iโ€™m not sure what causes it but itโ€™s definitively not how I want to be woken in the early hours lol

ForeverHopeful67 · 13/05/2024 21:38

Thank you ladies for all the pant recommendations!!

@mrsbgb I had a similar thought today, looked at the date and thought 3 months today it will be my 30th birthday and I will be on maternity leave! Crazy!

Lillers · 13/05/2024 21:47

@HRP1990 I had cramp either last night or the night before, I canโ€™t remember which. It started in my lower right calf and then went down into my foot ๐Ÿ˜ญ. I had to get out of bed and put all my weight on it to get rid of it - when I did that it went pretty quickly but was horrible while it lasted.

mrsbgb · 13/05/2024 21:53

@ForeverHopeful67 are you a September 13th birthday too? Same as me (and my due date which is wild!)

How is everyone finding work at the moment? Iโ€™m on to my fourth week with overnight travel and Iโ€™m feeling uncharacteristically anxious about it. Think Iโ€™m probably just tired and starting to feel more pregnant, so a few days that are really full on (long days, lots of socialising, and all outside - I work in agriculture) is just really unappealing!

@FuppinNora @Xur I second the SHEIN maternity leggings - was very pleasantly surprised when they arrived and wish I ordered another pair now!

Although with the weather getting warmer I'm certainly in need of some new summer clothes and maternity pants - any recommendations for maternity pants?! ๐Ÿ˜… I'm usually a thong girl but don't even know if there is such thing as maternity thong, right now I'd just be happy for a pair of pants that don't keep rolling down under my bump!

Can't believe I'm 24 weeks this week!

Maternity thongs do in fact exist (which look hilarious imo!), I have some - though haven't tried them out just yet as I can't find where I put them away!

Will report back when they're unearthed and fully tested - In the meantime though; https://www.amazon.com/Leakproof-Maternity-Bump-Comfortable-Pregnancy-Postpartum-2/dp/B0BS1RDGLS

I don't think these are the ones I have but they were the first ones I could find ahahah - They remind me a lot of the diaper thing Fat Bastard wore in that one Austin Powers movie๐Ÿ˜‚

longingtobe23 · 13/05/2024 22:30

Also I'm the leg cramp crew ... Woke up with such bad pain in one and it's just awful you have to breathe through them. I was hitting husband like ow ow ow ๐Ÿซ  hopefully a one off! As 5 am wakeup wasn't fun it ached all day but has gone now.

WinsandSam · 14/05/2024 10:06

@mrsbgb I feel like I've checked out of work!! Feel like my priorities have changed.
Some days I'm fine but others I can't be bothered (like today.) I feel my anxiety is worse when working and my mood can be impacted. Poor sleep won't be helping I think we forget how much effort our body is putting in right now to grow a human. Let alone have grown up jobs ๐Ÿ˜ญ

On another note, this week I saw baby kick from outside! Also felt it with my hand (which makes me feel weird ๐Ÿ˜‚) my partner has also been able to feel the wriggly eel too

tryingfortwo2 · 14/05/2024 10:43

Also in team lower leg/foot cramp during the night๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ so unpleasant! I also still have this horrid taste in my mouth all the time, especially after I eat. Not metallic (like everrrrryone suggests when I mentioned it), just foul.

Iโ€™m 25 weeks today and the absurdity of there being a penguin in my belly made me laugh this morning after another night of crap sleep!

Cat2022 · 14/05/2024 10:59

I had restless legs when trying to go to bed last night had a banana and that seemed to help but I hope it doesnโ€™t get worse.

Finding it hard to concentrate at work atm as itโ€™s busy and by the afternoon I just feel a bit mentally checked out.

Lillers · 14/05/2024 11:32

@Cat2022 I also had restless legs last night, and in my arms as well. I woke up with it at about 1am and honestly could not stay in one position for longer than about a minute. In the end I got up and went downstairs for a couple of hours and did a few circuits walking round the living room. When I went back to bed at 3ish I was able to get to sleep.

WinsandSam · 14/05/2024 12:34

@tryingfortwo2 I had the horrible mouth for weeks! I just kept saying my mouth tastes like arse ๐Ÿ˜‚ couldn't describe it

PoppingUp · 14/05/2024 12:48

I've had a real inertia with work and life the last couple of days- not the same as the fatigue of first trimester but I don't have any 'get up and go'. I was joking with my partner that I feel like an incubator- constantly on the quest for more food or a glass of water or a lie down but not getting any of the energy benefits myself!

I think I need to up my activity levels- going to go for a lunchtime walk and try and force myself into some gentle yoga this afternoon. Try and get back into my body for myself and hopefully my brain will follow ๐Ÿคž

Also thanks for the reminders about Facebook marketplace and the great deals folk have been finding- I'd not started to look anywhere like that for furniture, prams etc but have now spotted lots available locally!

rupertbear91 · 14/05/2024 13:04

Anyone else had a sudden change of movements around 21 weeks. He isn't much of a wriggler but always after food and in the evening and I could see his kicks on the outside this week. But since Sunday lunchtime I have hardly felt anything just the odd tiny flutter. I rang maternity triage and they said all they can do is listen to the heartbeat but if there is the odd movement I'm sure he still has a heart beat so not sure what that will tell me? I just want him to go back to booting what ever he wants to boot ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ
My gut tells me he's move position as my belly doesn't look as big today but it's so he's not to panic!

Lillers · 14/05/2024 13:09

@rupertbear91 Iโ€™m sure youโ€™re right and heโ€™s just changed position, but it might be worth letting them listen for his heart rate anyway. When I was in the waiting room at the hospital the other day they were playing information videos, and one was about reduced movements and how if the baby is unwell they might move less to conserve energy - theyโ€™d probably then be able to pick up if the heart rate is slower? Iโ€™m sure youโ€™ve got nothing to worry about but probably better to go and get it checked.

Khanga27 · 14/05/2024 13:36

@rupertbear91 the Doppler also picks up movements so it could give you comfort that way too. I had similar and the Doppler at the weekend picked up a lot of movements that I just couldnโ€™t feel because of position

rupertbear91 · 14/05/2024 13:54

Thanks ladies, if he hasn't had any kicking out bursts by the time my partner finishes work I will go in and get checked.

I don't know if it's going back to work for the first time in 15 weeks this week, hormones or worrying if everything's ok but I feel really permanently on the edge of loosing my shit these last few days. I have been pretty level all pregnancy even tho i have been so ill with HG but full on exploded at my partner last night because he didn't put the dog back on the lead when I asked him too. It really doesn't feel like me.

malimoon · 14/05/2024 14:03

I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed @rupertbear91 , this was me a few weeks ago when my kitchen was being done so was living at my parents house /my partner tore a ligament in his knee and was immobilised /had to put my cats in a cattery for a week - just felt overwhelmed and on edge. I'm sure going back to work is part of it and hopefully in a few weeks you'll feel differently.

And to all the crampy crowd - I haven't had any issues with cramping calves but have woken up this morning with a really sore right buttock! I feel like I'm limping! Dr Google says maybe sciatica or maybe PGP but either way it doesn't feel very dignified...

tryingfortwo2 · 14/05/2024 14:45

@WinsandSam yes! Itโ€™s so vile. Iโ€™ve had it since 5/6 weeks and itโ€™s stiiiiill here. I had it with my first too, but this time itโ€™s actually making me feel so unwell ๐Ÿคข

My gut tells me he's move position as my belly doesn't look as big today but it's so he's not to panic!

I had that for the last 3/4 days and Midwives and Triage were both not answering or had extremely busy lines so I couldn't get through at all and ended up on the phone to NHS 111 about it as I didn't want to not do anything just in case!
They said as long as you're not in pain, feel well in yourself, no bleeding or discharge then the most likely thing is baby has just changed positions so their back is facing your tummy rather than their limbs , but said to keep phoning MW/Triage to be on the safe side.

Still couldn't get through all weekend, so that prompted my mum to go on FB Marketplace and grab me a doppler (even though not recommended!! lol) - as soon as she did and she dropped it off and we used it, the wee one starting kicking up a storm again and hasn't stopped since!

Hoping for the best for you! I'm shocked at how much our wee ones have us wrapped around their absolutely tiny little fingers already!!

LSW82 · 14/05/2024 17:14

@tryingfortwo2 @WinsandSam I have the horrible taste too - it's vile & makes me feel sick! Had it with my first too - just eat constantly so I can't taste it but then comes back
straight away!!

WinsandSam · 14/05/2024 17:15

@tryingfortwo2 mine passed but not sure how! I found lots of mints helpful, also fizzy drinks like lilt. Think as they're potent. Feel your pain though as not pleasant

I have had the most awful leg calf and feet cramps since about 14 weeks!! It's horrible. All though touch wood it seems to have died down a bit recently I was getting it every single night!

tryingfortwo2 · 14/05/2024 21:36

@LSW82 itโ€™s awful, isnโ€™t it? Same here, eating is the only thing that helps it but itโ€™s so brief. With my first, sour sweets like sherbet lemons helped but I canโ€™t stomach them this time. I try Trebor extra strong mints but they sometimes give me reflux now, and again the relief is so brief ๐Ÿ˜ญ

@WinsandSam so glad yourโ€™s passed, wouldnโ€™t wish it on anyone!

LSW82 · 14/05/2024 21:41

@WinsandSam must get some Lilt to try - I liove it!
@tryingfortwo2 same - I had so many sherbet lemons in my first pregnancy I practically took the roof of my mouth off - I also remember eating a lot of weathers originals ๐Ÿคฃ
