@littlepanda88 ah ok, I've left a message with my local maternity unit. It will all come right, I just know it's important to make sure you get your dating scan by 12 weeks if you want certain checks done and I don't know how busy things are at the moment.

littlepanda88 · 22/04/2024 15:42

@RedRobyn2021 yeah I think that's why I referred early, just in case it was busy! No harm in booking early anyway. The weeks will come in quick enough I think! How are you feeling?

Livingonhope · 22/04/2024 15:46

littlepanda88 · 22/04/2024 15:37

@RedRobyn2021 I wondered the same thing- my doctor surgery told me they don't deal with pregnancies anymore so I had to self refer online. I'm based in Northern Ireland though but I assume the process is similar in England? I self referred online last week and got a letter with an appointment for 11th June, when I'll be around 12 weeks. :)

Little panda fello NI here as well! was going to say I just self referred!

RedRobyn2021 · 22/04/2024 15:47

@littlepanda88 really tired, I'm at my mums so had a nap on the sofa whilst she played with my 3 year old. The last few days we have just been pottering, walking the dog, housework, going to the park or playgroup because I feel too lazy to do anything else

How are you feeling?

littlepanda88 · 22/04/2024 15:51

@Livingonhope aww that's great! It's been a while since my last pregnancy so it's all a bit alien to me again haha, you just forget things! I think my doctors surgery was wondering why I was telling them I'm pregnant!

@RedRobyn2021 aww yes I feel quite tired as well, started to get a bit of nausea in the mornings, if the nausea stayed at that level I'd be over the moon haha. Managed to get an appointment with another doctor to ask for medicine just in case though, so that's good! It's hard going with other kids around, mine are older so not so bad but you just feel exhausted! Hopefully get some more energy next month :)

my GPS literal words " eh thanks for letting us know ..." it's my first after 4 years of trying I was half expecting them to be semi excited lol

littlepanda88 · 22/04/2024 16:01

@Livingonhope aww no way! I know, they could at least pretend to show excitement! Because it is exciting times and all so new - how have you been feeling so far? I'm only 5w 4 so haven't had loads of symptoms yet, tiredness and bit of nausea this week

I am 4 weeks 4 days so I have it all ahead of me but I have been really tired but waking up at 6am every morning which isn't like me. sore boobs on and off and only feeling a bit sick when I haven't ate in a while that's really it I'm nervous for my scan next Friday because hcg is low compared to alot of people so I'm not expecting a heart beat straight away which will no doubt send me in to panic mode!

littlepanda88 · 22/04/2024 16:16

@Livingonhope aww I'm sure it will be ok - it is a nerve wrecking time, especially so early on and being unsure. We think symptoms are bad and then having no symptoms is bad etc - can't win! :) fingers crossed everything goes well for you and congrats again! If I'm being honest I can't even remember this early on with my two boys... I was just so sick from the onset! So I think it's strange not to be.. not that I'm complaining :)

Yes same to you as well fingers crossed for both of us ❤️

RedRobyn2021 · 22/04/2024 17:18

@littlepanda88 that's brilliant, let me know how you get on with getting the medicine 🤞 I really hope you get a more sensible GP

I've been feeling very mildly nauseous as well, particularly in the morning, but also slumps in the day and in the evening too. I am taking that medication now though, but I remember a midwife telling me the medication doesn't stop you from feeling sick just from vomiting

AlbieBrz · 22/04/2024 17:24

Congrats to all the December Mum's to-be! I'm cautiously joining this thread... I'm currently 4 w+3 after TTC for a year after a miscarriage. Due Dec 27th 🙏

I feel like the last time we got pregnant (which was also my first pregnancy), I was naively unaware that anything might go wrong - now I'm the opposite and I'm finding it so hard to relax! It's so true what they say, that miscarriage robs the joy out of future pregnancies! The wait between now and the 12-week scan feels so far away but I'm going to try and take each day/ week as it comes. Just trying to remember this pregnancy is different and that the stats are on my side! Can anyone else relate?

Having mild symptoms so far - initially had a bit of cramping which has eased, increased peeing, waking up uber early, a little nausea, sore boobs and a bit tired! Nothing too full-on though!

@catmumma84 How did you get on at urgent care? Can I ask how high your TSH was? I have a history of a hyperactive thyroid and postpartum thyroiditis after my last pregnancy. My levels have been 'normal' for a few months now but my TSH has just come back as 2.89. Says it should be under 2.5 in the first trimester but only real risk at +4. I am waiting for a call back from Endo but I don't know whether to push it as the information online in a bit conflicting and they didn't do my T3/T4 so not sure what they are doing!

@Molly4689 went to a and e first who asked me ‘as a favour’ to go to my gp on Monday and I said no… so he sent me to same day urgent care who were lovely. They took my bloods and tsh measured 5.5 which has come down as it was 7.8 last month. However obviously still too high. I spoke to a lovely lady at the hospital today - altho not 100% sure what dept she’s from and she’s sorted my out a midwife appointment for next w densest. She reassured me that people have had much higher results than me and gone on to have healthy pregnancies (which is what I really needed to hear) after reading lots of awful stories on here :(
yours sounds fine tbh! Especially as she said to me today it raises in pregnancy and your hormone levels are all over the place right now!
id just get it monitored tho- make sure you flag it when you refer to a midwife :) she was from the overactive clinic tho rather than underactive and she did say to me that overactive can be the more serious one. Hope you get sorted soon xx

Aardbeien · 22/04/2024 18:04

Just got my first appointment through for Obstetrics/Ante Natal. I've no idea what to expect from it but I hope I can have an early look at baby because I'd love to know exactly how far along I am instead of "4-9 weeks ish???" Because of irregular cycles

Synergy94 · 22/04/2024 18:09

Just received confirmation of my first midwife appointment…I’ll be almost 12 weeks by then! Seems SO far away and means my first scan will be after this date. Think we’re definitely going to book for a private early scan for when I’m 7/8 weeks.

curiouscat1987 · 22/04/2024 18:19

Those of you who are checking your tsh levels, are you proactively requesting this from your doctors? Mine are aware I have hashimotos thyroiditis, and that im pregnant, but no one has mentioned needing a test to check my levels. I seem to remember in my last pregnancy they didnt check me either!

dreammama · 22/04/2024 18:21

I’m having a really tough day. I have lost my only symptom which was sore/ swollen boobs for 3 days now and I just feel totally normal. No feeling of being pregnant whatsoever and I’m an absolute wreck 😞 we had a scan at the EPU last week when I was 6+5 and baby measured perfect with a heartbeat, but since then I’ve just not had any feeling of being pregnant and have zero symptoms. I can’t help but feel something isn’t right I’m so upset 😔

Its so hard but try not to worry! Symptoms can come and go, especially in the first trimester. Can you arrange another appt if youre worried?

@curiouscat1987 yeah I’m proactively asking because I’m worried. I knew my tsh levels were too high and I’m on meds so when I found out I was pregnant I rang them immediately. They have booked me in with a midwife for next Wednesday so I guess im being monitored more carefully because of it. I have no idea if this is something they routinely do as it’s my first pregnancy! Could be worth asking for a test to be sure but it sounds like you’re fine if you had a healthy pregnancy and baby previously 😊
do you take lexothyroxine?

Molly4689 · 22/04/2024 18:45

Thanks @catmumma84 and well done for sticking to your guns and saying no! I feel like some Doctors don’t take the risk seriously. I hope they’re able to get them to come down further for you.

I called endocrinology today with my results and the consultant sent me a message to say in the context of my thyroid history the TSH level is fine. I also read a couple of articles that back it up. Although my GP forgot to add T3 and T4 to my blood form so they want those doing before my Maternity Endocrinology app in a couple of weeks.

@curiouscat1987 I’d only been off medication for 6 months so was due thyroid bloods anyway and just asked my GP to request them. I thought most people with a thyroid history are monitored during pregnancy so may be worth asking your midwife or GP for a referral and bloods? I was under the maternity endocrinology team in my last pregnancy but prior to that I hadn't had issues in around 12 years. My thyroid only went hyperactive again after my last pregnancy.

dreammama · 22/04/2024 18:48

@curiouscat1987 ive just left a message with the EPU to see if they’ll re scan me but I’m not hopeful. I just have this gut instinct something isn’t right, and I’ve suffered 2 losses before this pregnancy so I feel like I should trust gut instinct 😞😞

I also keep waking up early! Anywhere between 4:45am and 6am, usually I struggle to get up at 7 😂 I’m not too mad about it as I’m less likely to be late for work… Hope your scan goes well.

I am the same as you, booked an early scan. I can't wait that long to make sure things are ok.
Keep getting weird pains on my left hand side, nothing major but it does feel a bit odd!

My symptoms have come and gone, sore boobs then their fine then back to sore, same with mild nausea and fatigue

Everything could be absolutely fine, I hope you're ok xx

I’ve had some strange left side pain too! I say pain but it isn’t really painful, just a strange feeling and more towards by hip. I’ve also had some period like cramping but everyone on here has been really reassuring that this can be totally normal.
