Good news ladies. I went to the EPU unit and they did a scan. There was a heart beat :)

Aw I’m so pleased for you !

Delighted for you! You must be so relieved 😊

I wish I hadn’t said about my boobs not being so sore, they feel like they’re about to explode today 😂 and the nausea is horrendous today, I changed a patient’s dressing today and really struggled with it 😫

@catmumma84 just wanted to jump in and offer a little reassurance, I've also had pretty intense cramps, I'm 5 weeks, they feel like quiet intense period cramps, cause lower back ache aswell. It worried me too to begin with, but Google reassured it's just your uterus preparing for pregnancy: mine last about 10-15 mins then ease off again, no bleeding. I've also been getting ovulation like pains the last couple of days, on the right side. Which has had me paranoid (panicking about eptopic) but again, good has reassured me but I'll keep a close eye on it. Xxxx

Lunamoon23 · 21/04/2024 21:21

@Usernamerequired123 did you test? Any update? X

The cramps was never a symptom I'd heard of somehow but it's so reassuring to see it's not abnormal, I keep worrying I'll see blood but thankfully havent

LeeMarie · 21/04/2024 21:58

@Aardbeien I'm 7 weeks now and my cramps in week 4&5 were awful. I found them worse than period cramps. They are intermittent now but far more manageable. I had an early scan and all is healthy and saw a little heart beat 😊

Ah, so it's okay that it's like bad period cramps! I can't wait to have a scan and finally feel like this is all real. The nausea, pain, and exhaustion feel so defeating right now, but I know it's all part of the process

Wyewaving · 21/04/2024 22:04

I’m so glad lots of you have mentioned the cramps. This is my second pregnancy but I don’t remember having them this much last time, though I’m far more anxious this time around. It’s a comfort to know they’re normal!

I’ll just have to keep reminding myself of that until I have a scan at 7 weeks in a couple of weeks time (I’m 4+5 today).

Lunamoon23 · 21/04/2024 22:39

Can I ask how are so many of you having such early scans? I am 5 weeks and I dont/wont have a scan until 12 weeks. I've got an appt with a midwife on the 16th of May but that's for bloods/medical history etc. are you all going private? Are you UK based? Xxxx

I’m not having one. I’m waiting until the 12 weeks, I don’t think I could handle it if all was good at the scan and when I got to 12wks it wasn’t.

I'm not having one until 12 weeks. I could be wrong but I thought if you asked for a reassurance scan they would do it for you. There are lots of private scan places too, I went to one for my last pregnancy so we could find out the gender together (it was covid and they weren't allowing partners in for the scan)

LeeMarie · 22/04/2024 06:26

@Lunamoon23 I had an early scan due to one sided abdominal pain and shoulder pain so they needed to rule out an ectopic x

Yeah I am the same don't worry, I got my midwife one 8th of May Xx

I just booked an early scan, it's my first pregnancy but my anxiety wants to make sure everything is ok x

catmumma84 · 22/04/2024 07:51

So glad we’re all in the abdominal cramps club together ! Very reassuring 😊 (edit- worst club ever😂)
yes in the uk too, I’ll be having an early scan bc I have thyroid issues which can cause early loss so have to keep monitoring my meds and I wanna check that it/he/she (lol) is still in there 🙏🏼

I'm waiting too, it feels like weeks away doesn't it but then I think back and it's already been nearly 4 weeks since we found out we're expecting x

Lunamoon23 · 22/04/2024 09:15

Ahh thank you ladies. I started to panic for a second and wondered if my team were just being really slack. 😂 especially when you're new to it all and don't really know what to expect.
I remember getting my positive and had a moment of panic and was like.. oh crap, what do I do now. I rang my DRs surgery and they were like, no we don't deal with that here and just gave me a number to ring. I kept ringing the number and it just kept going to voicemail.. in the end I left a voicemail and 3 days later they rang me back.

Still feeling pretty rotten this morning (cold/cough), now every time I cough it absolutely kills as well my stomach muscles feel bruised. Praying it subsides quickly as I'm off on a family cruise on Sunday!! Mine and my husband's first one! And it's when we will be announcing our pregnancy..

My boobs are absolutely killing today too! But symptom wise, that's about all I have currently, the cramps have subsided a little. 5weeks 2 days today!! I still feel a little in disbelief about it all to be honest, dont feel it's going to fully sink in until I see it on a scan! How's everyone feeling? X

Boobs really hurting here too 🥴

Feeling positive this morning though - got 3+ on a CB digital 🎉

When I had my miscarriage it never went past 1-2 weeks, even when I was 5-6 weeks.

I’m relieved but also a bit terrified that it might be actually happening. We’ve getting married in October when I’ll be around 30 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

Livingonhope · 22/04/2024 10:38

Morning ladies...after a weekend of worry I got my 2-3 on clear blue ( just three days over what I expected) hcg was at 140 on Friday annoyingly gp sees no reason to recheck I have my scan next Friday so contemplating whether I pay for more bloods privately to keep my sanity 😂 I also got my dye stealer today at 20 dpo so I should really relax! hoping you are all well x

Molly4689 · 22/04/2024 12:10

@catmumma84 How did you get on at urgent care? Can I ask how high your TSH was? I have a history of a hyperactive thyroid and postpartum thyroiditis after my last pregnancy. My levels have been 'normal' for a few months now but my TSH has just come back as 2.89. Says it should be under 2.5 in the first trimester but only real risk at +4. I am waiting for a call back from Endo but I don't know whether to push it as the information online in a bit conflicting and they didn't do my T3/T4 so not sure what they are doing!

starryx · 22/04/2024 12:18

Nvm I broke and booked a private scan for in about 2 weeks time x

CaptainCabinets · 22/04/2024 13:26

Glad (kind of!) that we’re all cramping! I’m working with a heavily pregnant colleague today and every twinge I feel I’m asking her if it’s normal 😂😂😂🤣

RedRobyn2021 · 22/04/2024 15:32

This is going to sound silly but does anyone know if you call your local maternity unit to let them know you're pregnant or do you call your GP?

When I was pregnant with my chemical I rang my GP and they told me they'd let them local midwife unit know and they'd be in touch (I never heard anything and then miscarried anyway so obviously didn't chase).

I feel like I should tell someone so I'm in the system and I'm contacted about my first scan but equally it's so early at 5 weeks I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't rush

littlepanda88 · 22/04/2024 15:37

@RedRobyn2021 I wondered the same thing- my doctor surgery told me they don't deal with pregnancies anymore so I had to self refer online. I'm based in Northern Ireland though but I assume the process is similar in England? I self referred online last week and got a letter with an appointment for 11th June, when I'll be around 12 weeks. :)
