Anyone else tested super early and due December 2024? This is my 2nd pregnancy after a mmc 2 days after my 12 week scan in December and actual miscarriage in January.

Hoping this will be the 1 that sticks and is healthy. Think my due date is Dec 3rd

Hi ladies
any recommendations for a double hands free breast pump?
not looking for something too pricey like the medela one but something good that maybe you used and can recommend please to me?
thanks in advance x

I used the Elvie (electric one side and a manual pump just to collect on the other side). I pumped from within the first week with baby no.1 and it was great but I don't know of anything cheaper, the Elvie was quite new when I first used it so there weren't many similar options then but hopefully there's some alternatives now.

@CatCaretaker @Lunamoon23

I was so the same. Few weeks have gone past and there is no hiding this big old bump!!

Bluesea14 · 28/10/2024 07:55

How is everyone dealing with hip pai? I've tried to put a pillow between my leg while sleeping (a normal and pregnancy pillow) but I just find the pressure uncomfortable. We have a fairly hard-medium mattress so that probably doesn't help! X

RedRobyn2021 · 28/10/2024 09:03

Has anyone got low iron?

I'm being retested in a couple of weeks and have been taking pregnacare tablets since they told me a few weeks ago. I just feel so exhausted some of the time, this is the only symptom though. But I'm worried incase my iron hasn't gone up by my next appointment, does anyone know what happens next if it hasn't?

Do I just carry on as I am?

CatCaretaker · 28/10/2024 09:19

@Bluesea14 I have a firm mattress too and find it really helps. The worst pain is when I've slept elsewhere on soft mattresses. Those are awful for me.

I have a pillow too, but mostly for support so that I don't roll onto my back. It's a lovely bug wraparound full body one, and I' wondering where it's been all my life to be honest.

Molly4689 · 28/10/2024 09:38

@RedRobyn2021 I have low iron and on iron tablets but my iron has gone down since being retested and I now also have low B12.

I originally had low folate but have been on medication for a while and this is back to normal on treatment.

I'm not sure what happens as still waiting for somebody to come back to me! Midwife thinks I need B12 but said my bloods didn't look normal in other areas and so wanted a Doctor to check them but have been waiting since Thursday and not heard!

My tiredness has gone to breathlessness which is making things really hard!

Getting regular rest has helped to a point! I don't think they'll retest you for 4 weeks?

I totally hear what your saying
but this is baby number 4 for me and used the pump for every other child and was a lifesaver
I get really really engorged to the point I can’t anymore and after every breastfeeding I need to pump out until my milk settles.
Yes some will say pumping makes you more engorged but this has been me every pregnancy speaking to breast feeding specialists.
so I do need a pump on hand when I give birth 😉

Has a haakaa worked for you previously? I found that useful to catch/ease the fullness whilst feeding on the other side.

I was told never to pump in the first 6 weeks from the lactation consultant we saw as it was all supply and demand but the haakaa is okay as it’s gentler.

OnNaturesCourse · 28/10/2024 14:45

I've posted this as a separate thread but wondered if anyone on here could shine a light on what's going on...

My bump has been going super hard this afternoon but I was sat down and while it was uncomfy it wasn't sore.
Out a very slow walk just now and my bump is solid and has lots of pressure type pain low in it. I have some low back/tailbone discomfort too. I dont think it's my PGP, different type of pain. Without being too graphic I feel like baby is about to fall out my backside.
4th baby and never had this so wondering if anyone else had? Could it be a bit of dehydration or just baby position? (have been breech but now wonder if they have turned.)
I'm 33 weeks.

RedRobyn2021 · 28/10/2024 15:49

@Molly4689

That sounds hard

I'm due to be retested in an couple of weeks at my 34 week appointment, it was my last appointment I was tested which was actually 4 weeks ago but feels like it wasn't that long ago 😂

I'm a bit worried what they'll suggest if it remains low, I've tried to look on Google but it just talks about the dangers of very low iron

I just feel knackered, I was carrying some wet washing to the dryer earlier and my breathing was a bit laboured, just from carrying a bit of washing

Molly4689 · 28/10/2024 16:19

I'm 34 weeks and the hospital told me they won't do anything else like an iron infusion unless ferratin is also very low (under 15) and mine is 15 (low enough in other countries). I've just been told to stay on iron tablets and also that I need B12 as they work together and this should help improve it but yet to have this prescribed! My folate has improved but it hasn't helped my iron so no sure!

It's horrible isn't it! Even just talking for a few minutes has me out of breath, I was singing a nursery rhyme before and couldn't keep up! I keep being asked if I'm asthmatic.

Maybe go back to them if it's been 4 weeks and ask for another blood test asap if you're still symptomatic?

Lunamoon23 · 28/10/2024 16:19

@RedRobyn2021 I think if they find it's lower this time they'll give you a prescription of iron supplements. If it's dangerously low they may ask you to go into hospital and have an iron transfusion which I believe is an outpatient thing unless it's seriously dangerously low.

@OnNaturesCourse my bump goes hard sometimes, I attribute it to being Brixton hicks. And like you baby is also breech and I'm 33weeks. So maybe experiencing the same. It normally comes and goes, also feels like slight period type pains. But my lower tummy also sometimes goes rock solid depending on where he is lying. So much so that if me and DH feel we can genuinely feel a limb. Xxx

Lunamoon23 · 28/10/2024 16:22

Also just a groan... but my god the lower back pain is really starting to hit now while at work!!
I know it's a posture thing, it's so difficult when you're carrying a heavy bump out front and I'm stood on my feet for 7-8 hours a day.. 33 weeks today and 4 weeks left at work! Hoping it goes quickly!!

RedRobyn2021 · 28/10/2024 16:25

Thanks @Lunamoon23 they've already given me a prescription but I just thought I'd get my own

It wasn't that low I don't think, only 112 hopefully it'll be going the right direct now.

I've been trying to eat more iron rich foods too

Lunamoon23 · 28/10/2024 16:27

@RedRobyn2021 oh okay, no that's sounds ok! Mine was 113, and they didn't bat an eyelid with me, so it would seem yours was only ever so slightly under. So fingers crossed xxx

Lunamoon23 · 28/10/2024 19:01

Ladies, odd one...

I've sat down to have dinner and suddenly got this sharp, stingy pain above my belly button and to the right slightly. If I press down on there it hurts, and the best way I can describe the pain is like it stings but beneath to skin. Nothing visible on the outside, no rash or redness. Just really odd. Not felt this before, any ideas? X

Could it be the baby’s position? Sometimes I get odd pains from them moving about and getting into odd positions.

RedRobyn2021 · 29/10/2024 05:57

I don't know what I've picked up but I feel like I have a cold but I've been sick twice and barely slept.

I've got my 3yo daughter all day because it's half term and I feel horrendous

☹️

HelterSkelter224 · 29/10/2024 06:36

Oh no @RedRobyn2021 so sorry to hear that. Being 30+ weeks pregnant does not help matters and 3yo are so energetic! Is there anyone else who can take them to help you put, failing that don't feel guilty about plonking them in front of CBeebies with a load of snacks!!!

RedRobyn2021 · 29/10/2024 09:53

Thanks @HelterSkelter224

Her dad has had to go to work, there's no one else to ask unfortunately. She's been keeping herself busy so far reading library books, dressing her dolls and listening to her Yoto. I've got the tv remote ready for a Disney plus film if I need it though

I miss the days where I could just be sick alone

Lunamoon23 · 29/10/2024 18:39

@Firsttimetrier I think maybe it could have been as it's eased significantly since last night but is still slightly tender compared to the rest of my bump. I was starting to panic if it was the start of an umbilical hernia. I'll mention it to my midwife on Thursday, see if she can have any guesses.

@RedRobyn2021 hope you feel better soon! I've had so many colds during my pregnancy, thinking it must be wiping my immune system slightly, this is my 3rd plus I had covid. This one started after I had my flu and RSV jab last Monday. Felt pretty rotten since! Especially tough when there is so little you can take to make you feel better during pregnancy, besides paracetamol. Hopefully you can have some peace tonight when partner is home, maybe treat yourself to a nice bath xxxx

RedRobyn2021 · 30/10/2024 08:54

@Lunamoon23 I've stopped vomiting so that has helped but completely exhausted and bunged up 🤧

I've booked to take DD to this Halloween party this morning so trying to summon the energy to get out the house. I'm expecting it to be loud but hopefully I can sit down with a hot drink and just observe because I definitely can't manage the disco 😂

starryx · 30/10/2024 12:11

32 + 4 weeks and my tiredness has definitely come back, anyone else? I'm waking up feeling a bit light headed in the morning too

Lunamoon23 · 30/10/2024 13:36

Ladies, I haven't felt baby move a lot in the last 24 hours. I'm going to ring the midwife team who I suspect will want to see me. Can anyone advise what they'll do??

I've been twice for this reason, at 2 different hospitals. Both times they wanted to see me, and they listened to her heartrate straight away and then afterwards tracked her movements for up to 1 hour (they said minimum is 10 mins). I had to lie there and press a button whenever I felt a movement, and after both times they said she was moving a lot more than I was pressing and they were happy with her movements but she'd likely moved to a position that I couldn't feel her anymore (I think I have an anterior placenta and can't feel her kicks my placenta blocks it). Both times they left the room and I was alone so very bored - definitely bring a book or headphones. The first time they got me into monitoring straight away, but the second time i had to wait 1h in the waiting room because they were so busy (they checked her HR immediately but once they confirmed there were no worries there then I had to wait 1h for the movement monitoring).

HelterSkelter224 · 30/10/2024 15:00

@Lunamoon23 have you been in to triage? Hope all ok xx
