Hi all,

I've just found out I'm pregnant and due Nov. I've found Mumsnet so helpful during conception so wanted to start a thread on pregnancy if anyone wanted to join. I'm feeling VERY tired, I've had cold feet (literally) and jelly legs today. I had very heavy implantation bleeding last time (which ended in loss about 4 weeks later) and none of that so far so hoping that's a positive sign. Have the strangest feeling already that it's a boy. How's everyone else doing? Xxx

Try this to see if you can join the fb group. It's a totally secret group so no one can see that you've joined it.

If the above link doesn't work (it's been temperamental in the past I believe) then we will have to wait for the admin to post 😊

This part of pregnancy is such a difficult time. I had a little wobble last week. I'm okay at the moment. Saying that, I've been googling like a mad woman.
I guess we are all worrying because as adults we're not used to having no control over a situation, especially one which involves our bodies.
It's so nice to have this thread to support each other though.
On a side note, the ladies who are taking progesterone. I've been prescribed some, I forgot to ask at what point are we supposed to stop taking it? I got given it at 5w 5d, so I'm not sure if it's too late to be prescribed it anyway.

muddlingthrou · 18/03/2024 11:40

Hi @1yearplan - both my last and current pregnancies have been IVF ones, so I've taken/am taking preogesterone for both. My clinic prescribes it until 12 weeks, so I doubt 5w 5d is too early for it to have any effect! It's a pain, but I'm so used to it now, it's almost automatic. I remember last time having a little wobble at 12 weeks about stopping as it was almost like a comfort blanket!

Also, thank you @CadoAvo for the link - it finally worked for me and I ahve requested to join!

ECH11 · 18/03/2024 11:49

@muddlingthrou @1yearplan
I’m also on progesterone and mines also been prescribed for the first 12 weeks - please could I ask, are you two putting it in the front or back end… I’m taking it vaginally at the moment but last night it literally just slipped back out! It’s the first time this happened so hopefully a one off but just felt like I probably didn’t benefit from it at all last night!

waryandbored · 18/03/2024 11:59

I saw my GP this morning who wanted to refer me to the EPU but they didn’t answer the phone. She left a message but no idea if they will get back to her today. They are only open until 3 so very unlikely that I’ll get seen today. I’m still having some spotting and the pain in my lower back and abdomen is a little worse at the moment but still not severe pain.

RedCords · 18/03/2024 12:09

Ah thanks @Daisychain27 they sound similar to the cramps I've been having!

Also having toilet troubles now.

I agree about feeling like you can't get excited yet. DH keeps talking about when the baby is here but I just can't let myself think like that yet, even though I've no reason to think otherwise at the moment.

Although I did go to Next and let myself have a wee browse of the newborn clothes, which washed away the anxiety temporarily. I think I just let myself believe it will be ok for a half hour, which was nice! Didn't last long though.

I don't like this early, worrying time at all. Thinking of you ladies

Sunandstars28 · 18/03/2024 12:10

Thanks @CadoAvo the link worked! I've requested to join 🥰

hicketypickety · 18/03/2024 12:22

@muddlingthrou @1yearplan I have also been told it will need to be for 12 weeks. I am inserting it vaginally and have found I need to push it back quite far and then lay down for 15 mins and it seems to mostly absorb (or at least nothing has fallen out since I started doing it that way!)

Mummysparrow · 18/03/2024 12:27

@CadoAvo not worked for me, just brings my FB app up on to my feed 🙄 I will try again later

Elixabeth · 18/03/2024 12:58

Not good news for me today, I've started bleeding, I went to the toilet at work and it had gone though my knickers and trousers, I called my GP straight away, who referred me EPU for an early scan. The EPU called and advised me to monitor the bleeding for a week, then update them next Monday. I'm so anxious and scared, I don't know how I'm going to cope for a whole week

shohopeful · 18/03/2024 13:00

Oh @Elixabeth I am so sorry they are making you wait a week. Can you book a private scan? I know they're expensive but if it can give you a piece of mind it might help. It's so, so shocking to me the lack of care women are given in early pregnancy.

Elixabeth · 18/03/2024 13:07

Thank you @shohopeful After speaking with my GP I just expected them to say come in for a scan, I had no ideal I'd be left at home to see what happens. I think I'm going to have to, just so I know either way, then I can at least start processing what's going on

ttcbabyno1x · 18/03/2024 13:18

That’s shocking @Elixabeth ! Maybe you could go to urgent care? I started bleeding 3 weeks ago and went to urgent care (like a walk in centre) and they sent me to EPU. They did blood tests etc and scanned me 3 days later which was bad enough waiting 3 days. I’ve been bleeding 3 weeks now and have had 3 scans in that time and I saw baby and heartbeat. I’ve woke up this morning to a clot so I’ve rang them again and they’ve said come tomorrow. Every wait is agonising 😥

It's going into the front at the moment, however, I'm worried about how much is staying. I seem to find bits of it on my sanitary protection 🤦‍♀️

waryandbored · 18/03/2024 13:27

@Elixabeth that is really shocking with such heavy bleeding. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with that.

My local EPU have offered me a scan on Thursday which felt like a long enough wait.

If I were you, I think I’d opt for a private scan just to know one way or the other. Hoping for the best outcome for you x

1yearplan · 18/03/2024 13:36

@waryandbored hopefully they'll get back to you today. The wait is just horrible.
@Elixabeth I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Try to hold onto some hope, it could be a hematoma? I had this Tuesday and my bleeding has settled now. It's scary seeing the blood though. I hope you're okay.

Jellybelly888 · 18/03/2024 13:38

@Elixabeth I'm so sorry, I’m keeping everything crossed for you and I would definitely push for an earlier appointment than that. How many weeks are you?

@ECH11 I am alternating putting them in front and back. Back in the morning as they don’t make a message and stay in better I find, then at night the front so I can lay down straight away.

Elixabeth · 18/03/2024 13:47

@ttcbabyno1x Good luck for tomorrow I've everything crossed for you, I'll have a look if there's an urgent care in my area that could help

@waryandbored I think I'm going to have to book an early scan, I can't wait a week, and even then I don't how how long after that they'll get me in for a scan, thank you and good luck with your scan x

@1yearplan Thank you, it's just spotting now so I'm really hoping there's still some hope, when I say it I just went into panic mode

@Jellybelly888 Thank you, my GP told me that they would call to arrange an early scan, so that's what I was expecting. I'm around seven weeks

hicketypickety · 18/03/2024 13:48

@Elixabeth that's really shocking, whenever I've had bleeding in the past EPAU have had me in straight away?? I can't believe they've just said wait a week... wishing you all the best and thinking of you.

Jellybelly888 · 18/03/2024 10:54

Also, anyone else self employed and having a slight reality check wobble about how to do your job with a newborn? I wasn’t self employed when I had DS, so this will be a new experience for. At the moment, I can probably afford myself an afternoon and a long weekend off on maternity leave 🤦‍♀️🤣

Me! I’m self employed and this is my first pregnancy. Luckily husband is also self employed so hoping we can tag team somewhat and use the flexibility to our advantage 🤞🏻

Loz365 · 18/03/2024 14:15

@waryandbored I'm glad you've got a scan sorted, fingers crossed everything is okay!

@Elixabeth I'm shocked they are making you wait. I've never heard of EPU making someone wait when they've had fresh bleeding. I agree with the others, I'd be considering a private scan. Sorry you're going through this.

We had our scan this afternoon, measuring a couple of day behind where I thought I was, thought I was 6+6 but measuring more like 6+3, but bean is in the right place with a good, strong heartbeat. Can't quite believe it! We're going to book a private scan between 9-10 weeks as the fertility clinic doesn't do any more scans for me and I don't think I can wait until the 12 week scan.

Shroedy · 18/03/2024 14:22

So sorry to hear @Elixabeth - I agree re an early scan! I'd recommend seeing if you can find somewhere that has actual doctors undertaking the scan if you have specific concerns / symptoms, not just sonographers. You want someone who really knows what they're looking at so you don't have more questions than answers.

omghavingababy · 18/03/2024 15:17

Just caught up lots of worries today gosh it's such an anxious time isn't it 😩 it's torture
Sending love to everyone having a tough day

@piechipsgravy so so pleased for you!!! Wipeeee and I can't believe the first scan you had they told you that. I agree with what someone else said - you should deffo complain

Facebook link guys (Bain of my life I swear 😂) I have no idea what I'm doing and I just set it up because I loved my due date group with my 1st so much:
