Thank you ladies :)
I'll ask my HV at six week appointment depending on weight/growth centiles.

HopeAndStrength · 02/03/2024 11:52

I'm feeling a bit emotional seeing the new arrivals, congratulations ladies 🩷 you're all amazing.

DmcinT · 02/03/2024 18:18

Huge congrats ladies with new arrivals, hope ur all doing well ❤️🥰
I must say I’m loving this bubble too, it’s so lovely having nowhere to go/see. Like it’s tough in its way too and it’s like surviving each day but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m BF so partner can’t do feeds and like others have said he can take so long to change a nappy that I just do it alot of times instead of upsetting the LO. He’s great for minding me but I do feel like it’s 90% me when it comes to the baby.

anyone else who’s had a CS (I’m 18 days out) do u still have pain into ur scar/ moving in certain positions? And im still bleeding, very light some days and medium h

RachLeeds · 02/03/2024 19:51

Absolutely zero chance I would wake my baby overnight unless he was underweight /not gaining weight 🤣

Shrillwaffle · 02/03/2024 21:06

Whoever said about the feeding times I think the general recommendation is to not let a newborn go over 4 hours but if it were to go over a bit and they were asleep I don’t think it’s a big deal unless they’re underweight or not gaining weight. I just kind of let her tell me when she’s hungry she’ll start munching on her hands

But after so many hours you must though?

I’m 25 days post section and been stiff / a bit sore last few days after probably overdoing walks and housework this week. My lochia is also still persistent - mix of red / brown, but only one pad per day and night.

Cheetocat · 03/03/2024 08:20

@DmcinT I'm 23 days post c-section and have no pain at all, haven't had any for a while but I think it's because the wound is quite numb. Still having some light bleeding/lochia in short spurts a couple of times a day, wish it would stop already. 🤣

Ebonythoughts · 03/03/2024 14:22

I’m 15 days post c-section and the right edge of my scar has been swollen with a bit of bleeding for several days now even though the rest of the scar is healing nicely. Called triage to get it checked and they were worried about infection and just said to keep it clean and dry and that sometimes part of the scar takes longer to heal. I feel like I keep injuring that part without realising when I do small movements but I don’t have pain so I forget and sometimes overdo it I think.

Has anyone else had the with their scar? Really worried it’ll open if it doesn’t heal properly.

My lochia/ light bleeding stopped yesterday and haven’t had any at all today.

Hi all, is it normal for babies to hate nappy changes? Mine just screams like I'm trying to murder him every nappy change we do. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do? Do they grow out of it?

Yeah 😅
Wait until they can roll etc it's a work out haha.

I put a muslin down on changing mat for her to lie on so it doesn't feel as cold.
I also wait until she's had feed/half way through feed, unless soiled, so her tummy is full which makes her happier 😂

My boy screams until I start buttoning his clothes back up. I think he hates being cold. Also discovered he doesn’t like baby grows that much - I think it’s because he has quite long legs (he’s outgrown most of the 0-3mth baby grows due to length so far at 3weeks old ).

So far I find talking to him while I’m changing him can help but not always.
Edit: oh and I also put down a muslin cloth under him so it feels less cold

anony1111 · 03/03/2024 16:25

@LavenderSweetPea I think it's pretty normal, my boy has definitely found his lungs during nappy changes and screams the house down. I, like others put a muslin on his changing mat and just sing/talk to him, not that it seems to help but like to reassure him I'm there

Cheetocat · 03/03/2024 16:41

Mine hates nappy changes too, he always wakes me with the screaming when my partner changes him in the night 🤣

LavenderSweetPea · 03/03/2024 17:20

Glad it's not just me! My boy is 5 weeks tomorrow and after lord knows how many hundred nappy changed I'd hoped he'd have got used to it by now but I'll try putting a muslin down and seeing if it cheers him up a tad. Maybe when the weather warms up he'll hate it less. 😁

Ihatewinding · 03/03/2024 18:06

@LavenderSweetPea also do the muslin on the changing mat but white noise has been a game changer.
We have an Alexa in the changing area downstairs and say to play "blow drier noise on repeat", on loud does the trick, otherwise when I'm in bed it's any white noise on YouTube on my phone by his head 😅 even for 20 min poonami changes he's chill 👌🏻

redxlondon · 03/03/2024 18:08

You can get nappy mat towels to put down if you don’t want to use muslins, definitely too cold to put direct on changing mat. That being said - mine also screams the house down most changes. Generally as I change before a feed or he doesn’t like his legs exposed and instantly stops when buttoned. If he’s really screaming we pause the change for cuddles just so he’s not so upset.

Cheetocat · 03/03/2024 18:33

Yeah, our baby just doesn't like his skin to be exposed at all, hates nappy changes, changing clothes and the bath. He's wearing a baggy tracksuit today and he's so comfy and cosy, I never thought I'd put him in it before he was born because I wanted to dress him a bit nicer but my little one just loves his comfort 🤣

RachLeeds · 03/03/2024 18:58

Bit random, but how often are your babies pooing?

With nappy changes, cloth/towel down on a nice thick padded mat so it’s comfy and not cold and describing what you’re doing, like “I’m just taking your right leg out now baby” etc. He 9/10 times doesn’t cry anymore unless I take too long 🤞🤣

Mine did 7-10 a day, he now hasn’t been for over 2 days 😳😳 trying leg cycling, cooled water and hoping for a miracle tonight or will call doctor tomorrow.

redxlondon · 03/03/2024 19:23

C section recoveries — pain has gone 3 weeks post partum, but I can’t hear anything touching my abdomen now. Scar has healed beautifully but it’s all the skin above it, nerve sensations coming back, still large numb patches, but it’s so sensitive. Can’t even have the baby against it, it sucks.

msp2023 · 03/03/2024 21:01

@RachLeeds we usually get one massive poo a day, sometimes two. That's been her usual and HV said it's fine, every baby is different!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 03/03/2024 21:43

Yeah little man often hates nappy changes and baths.
Although this morning he lay happily on his mat having some nappy free time which surprised me.

DmcinT · 03/03/2024 21:58

Our little lady hated nappy or clothes changes, generally anything cold or that fusses on her. I’ve found holding the wipes until they are warmed a bit or dipping them in warm water first has made a difference. Talking to her and giving cuddles throughout also. Partner seems to take forever to change a nappy which can really upset her so I tend to just do them to be quick now 🙈 I just hate to hear her upset 😢

Anyone else suffered from post partum migraines?? I had some pretty severe headaches with preeclampsia in the last two weeks of pregnancy and last night was hit with another bad one that’s lasting 6hrs so far and counting. Was hoping it was a pregnancy thing and I wouldn’t suffer anymore. Any tips from fellow sufferers on how to manage?
