After a week of heart issues for me, was a emergency c section hours before my planned this morning when I had waters go of Hollywood worthy scenes and dilated to 7am within the hour 🙈 Drama queen club didn’t come close this morning.

however, our little leap baby girl was born, 8lb and 3oz. One very tired and sore mama but she’s been an absolute dream thus far.

Still having some heart issues so not been allowed to get up yet so hopefully soon and can start our journey to getting home. Baby is perfect, just my ticker that’s been found very dodgy so hopefully just pregnancy and all settles down.

Husband is delighted as he wanted the uniqueness of a leap day baby, I on the other hand 🙈😂

@DmcinT @Angelslookingafterus thanks ladies! I just wish I could get some sleep but I'm too excited/nervous!

@AllAboardTootToot congratulations she is beautiful!!! The chances of a Leapling are 1 in 1467 so that's pretty unique! X

AllAboardTootToot · 01/03/2024 04:45

Thank you! Sounds like you are close @undercoverhero74 ? Good luck hun, that feeling will never leave me of seeing little one brought into this world.

neither will the water breaking feature 🙈😂

Ebonythoughts · 01/03/2024 07:15

@AllAboardTootToot congratulations! She is beautiful and hope you’re recovering well.

Our little girl is exactly two weeks old and time has just flown by but one thing I still can’t get over is how it’s possible for a baby to deny you any sleep at night?! 🙈 She’s a dream during the day but at night she’s so fussy and overtired but doesn’t sleep for long.

Please tell me when I can expect her to sleep more than an hour at a time at night? 😳

Mismatc · 01/03/2024 07:46

@Ebonythoughts my parenting mantra is “everything’s a phase.” Even if your little one starts sleeping they may stop again in two weeks. I try my best to just roll with it and develop no expectations

DmcinT · 01/03/2024 09:09

@AllAboardTootToot huge congratulations 🥳 she is perfect 🎀 hope ur feeling ok and ur heart settles now

is anyone using an app for stages of growth, telling u what to expect etc?

Cheetocat · 01/03/2024 09:30

It's so funny how our experiences are so different even though we were all due in the same month. My little one sleeps too much, three weeks old today and doesn't wake up until he's starving or has a very bad nappy. Been like that since birth. It's actually quite upsetting, I'd love him to wake up every hour and have him show hunger cues and such. I've been trying to wake him to breastfeed for half an hour now and he's not interested but he'll wake up soon and feel very hungry and uncomfortable because he hasn't eaten since 7 and we know from the odd time he's awake that he gets hungry every two hours.

Angelslookingafterus · 01/03/2024 09:38

@AllAboardTootToot She’s just perfect big congratulations 🥰 cherish every moment x

After a very quick delivery baby boy was born 28th February @15:42 weighing 9lbs 1oz

We was booked in for induction on Monday but was still waiting for a bed on delivery on 28th and little boy decided he was ready to arrive on his own 🥰 I rang the hospital at 1:40pm and was 8cm when I arrived, I thought they was going to send me home 🤣🙈 and baby boy arrived 2 hours later with just gas and air.
We are home now and enjoying our baby bubble 🥰💙

I have an old fashioned baby book that has week 1, week 2 etc with info/tips etc and I usually just read ahead for the next couple of weeks. It has been useful and is nice to have a general guide about what is “normal” as a FTM. I would love an app though, if anybody has any recommendations?

RachLeeds · 01/03/2024 17:36

Huge congratulations on your new arrivals @AllAboardTootToot and @anony1111 🥰

HopeAndStrength · 01/03/2024 18:18

Congratulations @anony1111 and @AllAboardTootToot

For baby apps, my health visitor mentioned something called Wonder Weeks, as well as Baby Buddy and Baby+ (also DadPad).

Hankthehonk · 01/03/2024 21:11

Is anyone else going through cluster feeding who also has older children? How are you managing?
My baby is 3w4d and this week he's been feeding nonstop. I know this is normal at this stage and he's gaining weight well which is brilliant.
My husband has been massively sharing the load, mainly looking after our eldest, and also with bottle feeds in the night, but he works at night sometimes including tonight.
I sent my 3.5yo daughter to my mums for a sleepover (which she loves) because I just couldn't see how I'd do her bedtime whilst feeding the baby constantly.
But I know others must just have to do it on their own,and I'll need to figure it out as she can't go to my mums every single time! Any tips?

Shrillwaffle · 01/03/2024 22:18

Congrats to those who’ve just given birth 🥳

msp2023 · 02/03/2024 00:11

Hi lovely ladies!

When do we have to stop waking our babies for feeds if they haven't woken in 3h?
I've had mixed advice.. some say this is only until they're back to birth weight but I'm not sure if this is accurate?

We're nearly 5 weeks, baby girl wakes pretty much every 2.5h for feeding but on the odd occasion, can sleep for 4h or so. I have been waking her at the 3/3.5h mark when this happens but not sure if necessary?

Sunshineclouds11 · 02/03/2024 00:44

@msp2023 I'm going into week 4 and I haven't woke my little girl for the last week.
She's over birth weight and producing good wet/dirty nappies.
I wouldn't let them go over 4 hours in the day but will let her sleep what she wants in the night which is never going to be over 4 hours at this age anyway.

undercoverhero74 · 02/03/2024 01:40

Baby girl finally made her appearance at 1754hrs this evening. Super quick induction and home before 9pm!
Congratulations @anony1111

I’m confused, she sleeps through night or she wakes at least every 4 hours? Mine is 3 weeks old and would sleep over 4 hours if I let him… he has massive feeding frenzy in evening then crashes.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 02/03/2024 07:15

@redxlondon and @Cheetocat I'd say message your midwife or health visitor and check based on your circumstances. I'm not waking my baby at all (she also sleeps a LOT @Cheetocat and compared to my first it's an amazing experience).

This baby was overdue, and has gained quite a bit of weight at each weigh in, and so Midwife said for immediately newborn, every 3 hours was okay. She's now 2.5 weeks, and only wakes twice in the night, so I just feed her then. If I wake her, she has no interest, and I'm not too worried if she goes a bit over four hours.

However my 1st was only 7 lbs, born at 37 weeks, and had jaundice, so I had to wake him every couple of hours for weeks on medical advice. So it just varies. For a healthy good weight baby that's gained weight, I don't see an issue with leaving them, but worth checking I think

And congrats on the new arrivals!!

Sorry didn't explain it well.
I meant if they were to go over the 4 hour mark I would wake them for a feed in the day to get the milk intake in so wouldn't need as much in the night but allow them to sleep what they want in the night.
My little girl doesn't go over the 4 hour mark.

AllAboardTootToot · 02/03/2024 08:21

Aww congrats @anony1111 and @undercoverhero74 - we brought the rear ❤️❤️

Ah I see. My little man would have gone who knows how long last night so I woke him at 5 hours. I spoke to midwife and because of his huge weight gain after a drop she said I can go up to 5 hours if he’s cluster fed, otherwise 4 hours.
