@Cat2022 I’ve got my NHS in three weeks too! I caved in and have had two private scans now. They really settled my anxiety. I’m lucky that where I live there’s an excellent, highly regarded private clinic with NHS trained sonographers at a pretty reasonable price. I’m having my NIPT scan there in two weeks which includes another scan also. Hi to your pet pile 😂

rupertbear91 · 12/02/2024 10:54

That's great news @SC126 ours make you pay £5 per scan print 🤦🏽‍♀️
I'm also with you on the opposite of constipation these last few days. Not that I can eat much food so I'm not sure where it's coming from 😂

Lillers · 12/02/2024 11:27

Is anyone having an issue with phlegm at the back of their throat? It feels like it’s always annoyingly there and has made me be sick a couple of times 🙄

Kate543 · 12/02/2024 12:04

so I went for my nhs scan this morning and all was fine except measuring 11+1 and they have asked me to come back Friday so they can do the nt measurements 🤣

@Kate543 Aww beautiful scan!

siobhanmt247 · 12/02/2024 13:54

@Kate543 congratulations. Nice you get to see your baby again. I wonder if I'll have to do the same. I know I ovulated later than cd14 and told the midwife but she said they'd just go on lmp so it's scheduled for 12 weeks exactly but I'll measure 11 something

Kate543 · 12/02/2024 14:21

@MrsB2019x thank you!
@siobhanmt247 maybe then! Apparently the baby has to measure 45mm and they measured 43.5 😂so a few more days and will be fine :) good news is just means get to see them again

Xur · 12/02/2024 15:06

@WolfMother326 @Kate543
congratulations on the lovely scans! ❤️

my eye has been weird, Ibthink I took some bacteria in it, so I put the ointment on today morning (on the lid) and now I’ve read just now that apparently that ointment is not allowed in pregnancy 😳 I’m not sure I hope I’ve not fucked anything up by using it today morning.

WolfMother326 · 12/02/2024 15:32

I'm 10+4 today. Can't stop eating and then feel queasy from being too full. So tired I can barely keep my eyes open.

hol92 · 12/02/2024 15:44

Did anyone have a scan at 8 weeks? :) thinking of having one this weekend and will be just over 8 weeks so wondering if you can see much or if I should wait longer x

VT6 · 12/02/2024 16:00

@hol92 i was bang on 8 weeks when I had my private scan

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 12/02/2024 16:03

@hol92 yes! I was 8 weeks 4 days. We saw the baby, little stumps for arms and legs, and heard and saw the heartbeat. It was so so special, I recommend it!

SC126 · 12/02/2024 16:06

@Xur if it helps make you feel better, I work in pharmacy and a lot of medications say they cannot be taken in pregnancy and it's actually just because there is a lack of evidence of safety rather than definitely unsafe. Pharmaceutical companies would rather be safe than sorry sort of thing.

Xur · 12/02/2024 16:34

@SC126 thanks 🙏
I read on this it’s supposedly teratogenic.

@hol92 I had a scan at 8+3. You can see little arms, legs, you can see where the brain has started to form, you should be able to see umbilical cord growing. They also make little jiggles. Mine moved for the camera as soon as the wand pointed on them. 🥰

hol92 · 12/02/2024 17:46

Awww maybe I'll just book it then! Have felt so ill with this constant nausea, it just feels like I've had a sickness bug for weeks will be nice to see there is an actual baby in here causing it all :D
And ease the anxiety a bit :) x

Kofifi · 12/02/2024 18:57

Nice to see beautiful scans!

I'm finding today really tough. Im 8+5 and feel like I'm putting life on hold onto the next scan (12). I don't want to see anyone, do anything, and I just want to sleep to fast forward through the day.

I feel like i can't enjoy being pregnant because I'm too anxious to let myself be excited. :(

Babyplease23 · 12/02/2024 19:04

@kofifi Just dropping in to let you know you're not alone! I'm 7+3 today and I've been feeling exactly the same. I'm off work at the moment and have been sleeping all day and awake all night, just wishing the days to go quicker. I got pregnant on my 4th round of IVF and have had a previous miscarriage so my anxiety levels are through the room. I had a scan 5 days ago and everything looked perfect 🤞🏻 but I've already booked another private one for next week. I feel like that's the only way to get me through. I don't have any advice, just sending you a big hug, you're not alone x

RedFox24 · 12/02/2024 19:26

I went for a private scan at what I thought was 9W6D. The sonographer saw 2 sacs, 1 with a baby with a heartbeat measuring 8W5D and the other with no baby. I hadn’t prepped myself for twins so I’m not sad about not seeing a 2nd baby, but slightly concerned how it’ll affect the other baby.

The sonographer couldn’t rule out that the 2nd sac wasn’t a large bleed, so I’m going to the EPU tomorrow morning for a booked NHS scan so hopefully they’ll offer some reassurance.

has anyone had a similar issue? I’ve googled vanishing twin syndrome, which may be the case but trying not to go down a google rabbit hole! 😂

RosiePH · 12/02/2024 20:07

I decided to book a private scan after some confusion around the community midwives referring me to the EPU, but the referral was not picked up (a light bleed followed by 5 days of spotting at 5 weeks).

I’m 7+4 based on LMP but average 30 day cycles. We were so happy to see a little kidney bean shaped baby today, measuring 7+1 and in the right place, with an EDD of 29th September (which matches my NHS calculator due date, but is 2 days later than Flo predicts). We got to hear the heartbeat which was amazing - and strong at 161bpm.

I actually drank too much water beforehand (1 litre an hour before) so my bladder was too full to get a good picture. Had to then have a transvaginal, where the image was so much clearer. Will definitely be drinking half that amount next time! The final 15 minutes of the drive were excruciating and I had barely said hello to the sonographer before having to declare I really, really needed a wee! 🫣 I must have a tiny bladder!

Got my booking appointment in 2 weeks, and we’ll head back for an NIPT at the private clinic I went to today in 3 weeks for the Illumina test.

Feeling relieved (for now!).

rupertbear91 · 12/02/2024 20:23

@RedFox24 I have vanishing twin syndrome but they can see a baby in the sack it's just got no heartbeat. They found it at EPU last week scanning me for a small bleed. The consultant has assured me it created no risk to the healthy baby so I'm hoping they are right

RedFox24 · 12/02/2024 20:30

@rupertbear91 , sorry to hear that xxx

Thank you for the reassurance 😊 I’d never heard of vanishing twin before but it appears to be a fairly common thing (Google tells me 😂) hopefully everything goes well tomorrow

FuppinNora · 12/02/2024 21:08

Had my scan this evening and just wow 😍
10 + 5 is the date she gave me as I wasn't 100% sure when my last period was!
Arms and legs jiggling about. Just makes it real. DH got teary, I think it hit home tonight.

@Lillers strangely I get this phlegm every so often, I'm OK for hours and then just comes from nowhere and I get to the point of just about throwing up. Thought it was just me.

Megan004 · 12/02/2024 23:57

Lillers · 11/02/2024 09:47

I’m 7+3 today and I feel like it’s still so long until I’ll have an appointment or scan or anything. I’m so happy for everyone who’s getting their positive scans etc, but I just feel really behind. My booking appointment isn’t until the 22nd, and I don’t even have a date for a first scan yet. We don’t want to get a private scan because we don’t want to spend out for something that until I was on these forums I’d never even heard of. It just feels like so many people are so far ahead. I just went on the October thread to see if there are more people like me in there, but it looks like they’re all getting their early scans too!

I guess I just want to know if there is anyone else out there who is like me and not going for early appointments and scans.

@Lillers you’re not alone :) I’m 11 weeks today (from last period) but I haven’t had any early scans and will just have my 12 week one. It’s felt like an eternity of waiting I must admit but I’m 10 days away from my NHS scan now, so finally getting there! 😆 x

Megan004 · 13/02/2024 00:06

@FuppinNora fab news - congrats!! Can enjoy your holiday now 🥳
