Brilliant news @californiacooper !

Just nosied on Badger notes and seen a scan has been booked for me on 4th March. I’ll be 13+5 then which seems so long to wait ☹️

rupertbear91 · 08/02/2024 13:42

That's great news @californiacooper

We had a mixed morning for our scan. Last week I scanned one healthy baby measuring 6 weeks..... today baby measures 7+1 which is a huge relief and has a strong heart beat but they also found a twin which has no heart beat. I have no idea how they missed it last week and how last week they confirmed I ovulated from my left ovary and my right was completely clear (I had cysts on it before I got pregnant so they checked for them) and this week they told me I have CL on both sides so ovulated one from each side. It makes no sense at all. I am very relieved for baby 1 but unexpectedly sad for loosing the other baby I didn't even know existed!

siobhanmt247 · 08/02/2024 13:42

@Cinai im hypothyroid. Can you book an appointment with your gp and request bloods. They say you should increase dose by 25% as soon as you fall pregnant but it should be down to your doctor really. Have a look at some research and take it with you to your appointment. I saw a consultant last time but to be honest I felt like I knew more than them most of the time

Kate543 · 08/02/2024 14:25

@rupertbear91 oh no, that certainly is tough! Hope you are ok x

Caroline2023 · 08/02/2024 14:29

@californiacooper wonderful news!

@rupertbear91 gosh how difficult for you to process

@Cinai i have hypothyroidism and as @siobhanmt247 has said, your GP should be offering you blood tests regularly. I increased by dose when finding out I was pregnant. I’ve attached a picture of guidance .

Cinai · 08/02/2024 14:40

Thanks @siobhanmt247 My GP is pretty useless, but your post confirmed to me that I really want to get this checked now, so I’ve just made an appointment with a private endocrinologist, bit pricey but better safe than sorry.

Cinai · 08/02/2024 14:42

Thank you @Caroline2023

Cat2022 · 08/02/2024 16:15

@rupertbear91 good news about baby 1 but what a shock for you too!

californiacooper · 08/02/2024 18:24

@rupertbear91 wow what a shock! I'm
So pleased that baby 1 is looking strong and snuggled.

I hope everyone's had a good day?
Does anyone find it a bit achy a few hours after internal ultrasound?? I also seem to have developed heartburn, I thought that was just when we had a full sized baby pressing on the stomach, I can't see how a 5mm bean is capable of causing such issues internally 🤣

Lillers · 08/02/2024 18:40

I’ve been wearing the acupressure wristbands for a few days now and I really think they’re helping. I still have points where I feel really nauseous, but they’re fewer and further between. I’m not really wanting food, but I’m able to eat it, and have actually managed to have pretty normal dinners the last 2 nights.

Starlight11111 · 08/02/2024 18:56

@rupertbear91 my goodness that is a lot to take in isn't it. I'm happy for you that you have a fighter.

@californiacooper congratulations on your scan!

I had my scan and now measuring 9 weeks and the images were just lovely. Going to book NIPT in soon for around 10.5 weeks.

MudandMoet · 08/02/2024 18:57

I've had a snow day so have eaten and baked all day, still not sleeping so even had a little nap! Feels wrong but I can't lie it's been lovely!

@californiacooper amazing news - your relief must be immense - definitely stick around in this group, I'm supposed to be due end of August since last scan but wouldn't have felt right joining another thread xx

@rupertbear91 congratulations on 1 strong little baby ❤️ it doesn't help but I've been told this so many times and it does soften the blow slightly - take solace from the fact most MC happen as a result of chromosomal abnormalities. Can they leave it there while the other pregnancy progresses, will the body absorb it did they say? Xx

rupertbear91 · 08/02/2024 19:03

Thanks everyone it's a lot to gain and loose a baby in one day especially when it conflicts with everything we were told a week ago but hoping little twin 1 is a fighter and keeps going 🤞
They said it will just be reabsorbed but can sometimes take 10+ weeks!

@Lillers what acupuncture bands have you got? I got tescos own and I think they help but they also cut off the blood circulation to my hands and give me pins and needles 🤦🏽‍♀️😂

californiacooper · 08/02/2024 19:04

@MudandMoet sorry, snow?!? Where are you!! I didn't realise it was snowing anywhere today. We've just had absolutely torrential rain all day.

Lillers · 08/02/2024 19:07

@rupertbear91 Mine are Sea Bands, ordered from Amazon. They’re quite small too, but I have quite little wrists so they’re just right for me.

siobhanmt247 · 08/02/2024 19:33

We had snow her in Nottinghamshire too. Took a fall on the slope between the house and driveway but didn't hurt my stomach so think I'm ok ( as much as I want to pretend I'm not so the Mr will let me have an early scan )

MrsB2019x · 08/02/2024 19:35

@Lillers Glad the wristbands are helping! I found they definitely took the edge off. It’s just a case of hiding them from people who will guess 🙈

@rupertbear91 What a lot to take in! I hope you’re doing okay. The bands I have are Boots own brand, I have chunky wrists and they don’t feel too tight

MudandMoet · 08/02/2024 19:43

@californiacooper Derbyshire, we've had loads!

Fik88 · 08/02/2024 19:46

Got my booking appointment on Tuesday at 10am then just got to wait for scan date to come through. We've had loads of snow too, kids got sent home from school at dinner

Charlotte390 · 08/02/2024 19:49

@rupertbear91 I had a (kind of) similar experience between week 7 & 8 - at week 7 two heartbeats were detected, although one much stronger than the other, and by week 8 there was only 1. They were sharing a sac and placenta though so would've been a very risky pregnancy if both survived, and we were warned that we may lose one. Still a very hard thing to get your head around though!

I'm currently 10+3 with another scan tomorrow (I miscarried in August at 19 weeks so getting all the extra scans) so hoping all is well! Have been lurking here for a while, it's nice to see I'm going through a lot of the same feelings as everyone else here! Due date according to LMP is September 2nd :)

Lillers · 08/02/2024 19:51

@MrsB2019x So far they’ve only been noticed by one of my Y8 students, but he just asked if I was travel sick (while I sat still at the front of a non-moving classroom 😂)

SC126 · 08/02/2024 20:02

@MudandMoet the only issue with the snow is that my sons school closed so I've had to entertain him all day instead of relaxing.

Xur · 08/02/2024 22:28

@rupertbear91 that is crazy! I would be conflicted aswell! But to be honest apparently it’s quite common from what I’ve heard. I know someone who has hyper ovulation, means she will ovulate from both ovaries each month. When she was first pregnant she had 3 babies inside, which turned into 2 in a few weeks but in the end there was only one surviving twin.

In other news I now understand where does the “don’t argue with a pregnant woman” comes from. Today a random person (a manager from a different company) was really rude to me, spoke to me in a derogatory manner and I believe it’s because I am a female manager so this man thought he can talk me down. It was a business environment aswell. As soon as this person relayed their horrible attitude something just snapped in me and I literally told this person I do not have time for their horrible attitude and ordered them out of my office. Literally no regrets, I feel like I should have been even ruder than I was.
I already figured I’m a bit unhinged yesterday when I found out my spouse who is now trying to quit smoking had bought a new pack of cigarettes. I got angry over how he doesn’t want to go cold turkey (I quit smoking some time ago before I got pregnant and when I did It I went cold turkey) and I told him I consider him a weak man until he quits smoking.
I am normally not this judgemental. I am surprised I said that to my spouse. 😒

RoSco197 · 08/02/2024 23:08

@rupertbear91 I can totally understand the mixed feelings. Pregnancy is such a whirlwind as it is without having to wrap your head around something like that. Try to focus on the positive of having one healthy baby.

@Cinai I am also hypothyroid, during my last pregnancy I was advised to up my dose immediately by 25%. So when I found out I was pregnant this time around, I contacted my GP and they have also been quite rubbish. Several weeks later I’ve just started taking an increased dose on my own and requested another blood test (my first blood test results were lost) as it happens, my results are out (TSH is too high) so I’ve been on the wrong dose for weeks. To give you some reassurance, I’m 10 weeks and baby is fine - just try to get your test done asap

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 08/02/2024 23:44

@Xur I have such a short fuse nowadays! I should put a warning sign on my office door: Do NOT mess with me!!

Some women get teary, I just get angry 😂
