My scan I just under two weeks now and it feels like foreverrrr.

I'll be 13 weeks on the scan day.

wingingitandsoaring · 08/02/2024 09:22

@Xur I am 10+6 and defo got a bump going! I look about how I looked at 18 weeks with my first! Love it as was always disappointed by the size of my bump last time 😂

@MrsM89 I have a 2.5yo and want to do something fun to tell him but still not sure he'll understand tbh

wingingitandsoaring · 08/02/2024 09:27

@Kate543 I've been woken up / struggled to get to sleep a few times due to sickness. So annoying. But I got some prochloperazine from the dr and if I take one just before bed I'm usually ok. Understand not everyone wants to take medication though

Bubblegum20 · 08/02/2024 09:29

@MrsM89 I have no idea when I'm going to tell my 2 children, defo after my 12 week scan, they're both a bit young to fully understand at 2 and 1 years old

Caroline2023 · 08/02/2024 09:34

Great news @Decaffe

Good luck @californiacooper

Emmaev · 08/02/2024 09:41

Our daughter is 7 and we were a bit apprehensive to tell her as she has been an only child for a while, we ended up sitting her down and telling her then taking her out for dinner. She was so excited though and is gonna be the best big sis!

cd24x · 08/02/2024 09:51

Morning all, hope everyone is doing well. I've been a bit quiet on here as work has been mad, and I've been feeling so tired in the evenings.

8 weeks today and just had bloods done in preparation for my booking in appt on Tuesday. I don't remember getting any of my blood results back when I had DS, so it's really interesting that you guys are all getting them through. Although I think they are still using paper notes where I am!

So exciting that some of you are having your 12 week scans in the next week! I've still got 3.5 weeks til mine. It's dragging!

@MrsM89 we have told DS that there is a baby bean in my tummy, as he knows I've been unwell the last few weeks (and keeps giving me "Alan" the sloth hot water bottle to make me feel better - he's the sweetest!). He keeps saying he wants to see baby bean, but then forgets about it after a while. But I think we'll get him a book nearer the time to explain about being a big brother.

@MrsM89 My DD will have just turned 3 when baby arrives and I’m not sure how to tell her! She was playing with her baby doll the other day and said “I want a real baby”, I said Mummy and Daddy will see what we can do and that if we do have a real baby she will be a big sister. She then piped up with “I don’t want to be a big sister, I just want the baby” 🙈 She is so attached to me I worry she’s gonna really struggle with me dividing my time.

When is everyone else planning to tell older siblings? Not sure when is the best time?

So pleased all went well with your scan @Decaffe ! Good luck for yours @californiacooper

@Xur I definitely have a small bump and look like I did at 16 weeks with my first. She stretched my belly out a lot I think 🙈

Bakerbean · 08/02/2024 10:13

I think the NIPT is around £450 in our area. We’ve decided to wait and get the NHS screening done and if high risk, we should get the NIPT offered on NHS. If we come back low risk, I think we will just wait and hope all is well. It’s such a big extra expense on top of what is already going to be a hugely expensive year.

We’ve got our 12 week scan date! 28th Feb! Just under 3 weeks… eeek. I can already feel the anxiety creeping back in after the few days of calm reassurance our private scan gave us last weekend 🙈. Just trying my best to believe in my body and let the days pass as normal.

No bump to show for me yet, I have too much tummy chunk to notice any difference, but I am definitely bloated and so many of my leggings/trousers are feeling too tight to be comfortable. Has anyone caved and bought maternity leggings/trousers yet? If so - where do you all recommend buying from? 🫶🏼

Emmaev · 08/02/2024 10:16

I’ve not got my 12 week scan date through yet. I’m 10+1 today and I’ve just been impatiently waiting, stalking to post man everyday for a letter 😩

Ihavenamechanged987 · 08/02/2024 10:31

I’m so torn on whether to try and book a private scan for Monday if they have availability. I’d be 7+4 then, Is that too early to really see anything?

I was never this bothered about really early scans with my past pregnancies but this one feels different. Unplanned and I hope this doesn’t offend anyone but I feel like I’ve jinxed it somehow. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to keep the pregnancy and I booked an appointment for a termination. I turned up and collected the medication but I couldn’t go through with it. I feel like if something bad happens it’s my fault for considering abortion. I know rationally that’s stupid but being rational doesn’t always come into it!

Xur · 07/02/2024 22:34

Hmm..I showed my belly to my friend who has one child under two and her reaction was “omg 😳”. She said When she was at my progression her belly was not as big as mine. My spouse was looking at my belly aswell today evening. Is it just me or is anyone else also surprised over their bellies?

@Xur my belly has popped out quite quickly this time too, but i was thinking back to my first I didn’t even tell my work until I was 20 weeks as I was hardly showing! So it really does vary so much person to person and each pregnancy, that’s exciting you have a little bump already! Although I think that my bloating and constipation may have something to do with my belly 😂

Megan004 · 08/02/2024 10:59

Honeyandsunshine1 · 07/02/2024 18:20

😭🤣 no but this is genuinely my approach with a vast majority of my friends. Apart from the 3 I’ve told, I’m just waiting until I see the others throughout the year. Some I won’t see until summer probably as you know what adult friendships are like, so I’ll just rock up like… oh, hi 🤰🏻😎 hahaha.

How old are your two now? You do think the girl comments wil bother you? I feel like they piss me off more than they should. We’re keeping the gender a surprise so probably our own fault 😂 I just think it’s so rude to say “hope” like, hello, another boy is not a problem for me. In fact, a boy would make my life a lot easier 😻

Haha sounds like a great plan 🤣 my boys are much older! one just turned 8 and then 11. Yeah I think I’ll find the comments quite annoying to be honest 😂 yeah I also think it’s rude and a bit odd to make insensitive comments like that! I think I'm just going to let everyone know the gender as soon as we know at 20 weeks to save all the gender comments 😂

longingtobe23 · 08/02/2024 11:57

Wow these nipt test prices are good closest to me is £500-600

I left a job at 24 weeks with my first and no bump to show so they were none the wiser. this time I’m hoping to get to May school term holidays before telling them - I should be so lucky I’ll be 23 weeks 🤦🏼‍♀️ and not as fit or tight in the tum that’s for sure….

starting to feel like myself but the tiredness and hunger is off the scale, I did a 50 min swim and ate two rounds of toast for tea and I’m out tonight for the theatre and know I’ll need snacks in my bag (sorry to those sat by me…) also might nap at interval. So hard to not tell who I going with!!

Khanga27 · 08/02/2024 11:59

I’ve booked NIPT with Ultrasound Direct and it’s £400 here.

longingtobe23 · 08/02/2024 12:00

Does nipt tell you gender super early too? @Khanga27 I had a friend who did one due to previous pregnancies and knew at 8 weeks? But perhaps could have been a different test x

californiacooper · 08/02/2024 12:00

I've got home from EPU... I was so nervous today. It was really make or break if it hadn't developed.... but... I have a tiny tiny bean with a tiny flickering heart ❤️😭❤️. It's only measuring 6+0 (and was 5+0 last Tuesday, and based on my LMP which was 20 december I thought it would be 7.... but.... I need to not worry about that as I think it's good news for the minute!)
No date yet but I'll probably be due in October though but I'm not sure I can leave you September guys!

Due September 2024 PART 3 ❤️🩷💛💚💙💜
Khanga27 · 08/02/2024 12:15

@californiacooper I am so pleased you’ve had a positive scan and you got a little heartbeat as well!

@longingtobe23 we have our appointment next week (I will be 11+1 then), and you can get the gender included as well for no extra cost but we have decided against that for the time being. They say at Ultrasound Direct that you can have NIPT from 10 weeks onwards.

siobhanmt247 · 08/02/2024 12:31

Congratulations @californiacooper :)

Honeyandsunshine1 · 08/02/2024 12:45

Omg yayyyy!!! After everything you’ve been through as well, being told nothing was there and now look at that scan! That’s brilliant news ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

Cinai · 08/02/2024 12:47

Does anyone have experience with Hypothyroidism/ Hashimoto in pregnancy? I’m on levothyroxine and as far as I know, it is a risk for miscarriage and usually the dose of Levo needs to be increased during pregnancy. I mentioned this to the midwife at my booking appointment. She said I will be able to see a consultant about this, but it won’t be before my 12ish weeks scan (don’t have an appointment yet). She said that she can’t give me any information about risks etc because it’s not her area of expertise. In my first pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage, the midwife said I need to have a blood test every 4 weeks and an appointment with an endocrinologist was arranged for when I would have been 8 weeks. I’m now in a different hospital because I’ve moved since.
I’m a bit concerned about doing nothing at all about my Hypothyroidism for another 5-6 weeks (I’m 7+5 now). Any ideas/experiences?

Honeyandsunshine1 · 08/02/2024 12:50

Belly-wise, I walk around looking like I’ve eaten 3 dinners anyway, so a grape-sized foetus is barely making a dent 🤠🤠🤠🤠

HRP1990 · 08/02/2024 12:51

@californiacooper that’s amazing news!! 🫶🏼

Xur · 08/02/2024 12:53

@Decaffe @californiacooper
oh that’s wonderful news, I’m so glad the scans went well 🥳🎉🥰

Honeyandsunshine1 · 08/02/2024 12:55

Decaffe · 08/02/2024 08:03

Morning everyone, I’ve been awake since 3:30, I couldn’t get back to sleep 😩 Good news, scan was all ok, measuring exactly in line with my dates at 7+3. I’m pleased but it’s not sinking in just yet as I feel so tired and such a hectic work day ahead of me! All I want to do is go home and go back to bed! 😅

@californiacooper will be thinking of you at 11.

@tierneytarny so pleased for you. I hope you and DH made up!?

This is also brilliant news!! Hurry home to your bed afterwards and bask in the loveliness ❤️
