Ladies who have referenced the Botox... is it a no no now then?? *runs to Google fringe hairstyles

siobhanmt247 · 03/02/2024 18:42

@MudandMoet yep afraid so :(

@Xur i wish I craved protein. I used be to quite healthy. I'm not nauseaus or anything but all I want are beige carbs and sugar

Cinai · 03/02/2024 18:46

I’m feeling for you @Queijo, it’s so awful. I’m struggling a lot with nausea and sickness as well. Had my midwife appointment today and she told me to start Cyclizine, I’ll give this a try. Hopefully you find something that works for you! Welcome to our group!

californiacooper · 03/02/2024 18:59

@siobhanmt247 ahh yes I didn't. I thought about dry January, but as I was waiting for AF to start prep for transfer, every weekend has been "the last weekend" so I got absolutely enjoyed a bottle of wine. Apparently I was pregnant most of January without knowing 😬 I'm glad I didn't know and enjoyed that wine though.... hopefully all okay in there.
And it's a BIG NO to the Botox. I don't think (and I hope you wouldn't) find someone who would be happy to inject a pregnant woman, it's literally a toxin, which we are supposed to avoid rather than actually inject into us 😩😩 wrinkly mums r us. I didn't even get my hair done since the start of November. I was planning on avoiding hair dye for the duration. God help me.

@xur lots of dairy going on there! And thanks, I want pasta now.

@MudandMoet oh no I feel for you that sucks!! If I'd have had the transfer after stimulation id have been waiting to find out how it went for most of Xmas, the timing wasn't ideal, so I was kind of pleased we decided to go back in Jan (or not) as it gave me Xmas off! During stim I was on a 0 sugar 0 caffeine 0 alcohol 0 processed food diet (by my doctor) which was TOUGH.
Re Botox. I'm afraid so. I heard fringes were in for 2024....

@Queijo welcome to the club!

I'm sorry for all of you that are feeling ropey :( I kind of wish I was as it would give me some sign it was growing... 🫠

Lillers · 03/02/2024 19:06

@Queijo Welcome! You’re a day ahead of me, I’m 6+2, and I’m also feeling awful at the moment. Just really nauseous all the time - I’ve only been actually sick once, and genuinely couldn’t say if that was better or worse. I also seem to have a scratchy throat tonight and have started sneezing. I’m also the same as you with the food aversions - they kicked in a week ago and I was really excited when I got the first one because that felt like a “proper” sign of pregnancy, but one quickly became basically everything 😂. Being pregnant is such a bundle of laughs!

Xur · 03/02/2024 19:15

Don’t worry ladies about the Botox, you know there’s another solution, we just need to get nice and fluffy and our wrinkles will be stretched out by our fluffy puffy pregnancy fat under our skins 😂 my spouse tried to convince me I shouldn’t be doing my nails while pregnant either. But that’s not getting stopped I’m afraid 😂

Xur · 03/02/2024 19:20

Btw on a completely serious note if you’re not loving your wrinkles, texture of the skin while pregnant you can take collagen tablets. I got myself good quality collagen tablets and I’ve been taking them for months and my skin is definitely tighter, it’s not the same as Botox, because Botox literally stops the muscles from engaging but it does what filler for the crows feet and tear through filler is supposed to sort. It’s not the same but considering it’s just a supplement it’s good enough. Also, collagen is safe in pregnancy.

californiacooper · 03/02/2024 19:21

@xur ahh yes nails.... no... I don't think we should. Or fake tan...
I don't ever do my nails anyway as I can't for work.... but I do like to splash a bit of colour on the toes when sandal season is here. Is it just acrylic/gel etc and the fumes in the nail salon? Or chemicals in paint going into our body?

Theflyingfreckle · 03/02/2024 19:23

Marking my place!

Found out yesterday, have my first scan booked in for Tuesday. Tracker says I'm about 7 weeks and due 16th Sept ❤️

Xur · 03/02/2024 19:24

@californiacooper I am not sure I think the UV lamp people are on about but I don’t believe it anyway. Same as having the hair done, I watched a podcast were certified high risk obgyns debunked this and said people can keep having their hair and nails done it’s just an old wives tale. Tanning and fake tannins for sure is not healthy, even if you’re not pregnant.

californiacooper · 03/02/2024 19:43

@Xur I think it's inhaling the fumes in the salon that's not so good, of the gels and also the contact with acetone to soak them off??

There's so much conflicting information you don't ever really know what's right do you... my mum says in the (late) 80's she was told to have half a Guinness a day for the iron when she was carrying me. Wild.
I think I'm going to try to avoid toxic and processed stuff as much as possible. Food/drink and otherwise. I've been trying to be healthier and reduce processed chemicals in my diet anyway, so this is a big reason to work harder on that.

MrsB2019x · 03/02/2024 19:53

Is anyone else a bit resentful that life just goes on for their partner?
DH is out for a friend’s birthday tonight, I was invited but they’re the sort of friends who will push and probe about why you aren’t drinking so I opted not to go (that and my mum, our usual childcare, is unwell so I couldn’t have gone even if I wanted to)
I’m almost kinda bitter that I’m sat at home barely making it to the end of most days whereas life just goes on as normal for him?
Don’t get me wrong I’d never stop him going or expect him to sit and home and mope with me I’m just a bit bitter tonight 😂

Queijo · 03/02/2024 20:05

@Liller god it’s awful isn’t it? I threw up this morning and got a couple of hours relief, but the rest of the time can’t be sick so just constantly nauseous. So debilitating!

Let us know how you get on with the cyclizine, hopefully it works!

Xur · 03/02/2024 20:20

@MrsB2019x I’m a nerd, I play video games and don’t go out. I didn’t enjoy alcohol even before. My only thing that gives away is that I eat more now, I’m normally a healthy living freak, eating only when hungry etc and now…I am hungry all the time.😂

loopyloos · 03/02/2024 20:32

Hello ladies, has anybody had a similar situation?
I had a private scan thinking I was 7 weeks but dated 5w5d, no hb. Had a follow up 4 days later at EPU measured 5w4d, no hb. But tech said 4 days when they’re this small makes little room for growth as they’re so hard to measure. I have a follow up on Wednesday where I should be 8 weeks by lmp, 6.5 weeks by early scans. Looking for someone who’s gone through or is going through similar? The fear of the unknown is killing me. I’ve had period pain like cramps which are similar to pregnancy ones for me and no bleeding which is keeping me hopeful. Thank you and congratulations everyone 💗

HRP1990 · 03/02/2024 20:38

@californiacooper wrinkly mums r us😂

if you’re worried about fumes from the nail salons you could do your gels at home? I have a clean/natural kit with a lamp from a brand called “manicurist” lasts for ages and there’s no toxins etc.

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 03/02/2024 20:41

@loopyloos sorry to hear this. When did you get your positive test? Is it possible that you could have been wrong on your dates?

Ive had 4mcs - 2 normal ones and 2 missed miscarriages, and the 2 mmcs were similar to what you’re describing. I went for scans at 7 weeks and there was a sac and fetal pole but no hb. Both times they said I must have been 2 weeks out on my dates, but I knew I couldn’t be because I’d had a bfp 4 weeks before, which wouldn’t have been physically possible if I was only 5+3 or whatever. HOWEVER there are lots of stories online of people where they had just got their dates wrong or the scan measurements were wrong or the baby caught up. That’s why they rescan you in 2 weeks because that will give you a conclusive answer. It is a really horrible waiting game and I’m so sorry you are going through this. Fingers crossed for you.

VT6 · 03/02/2024 20:56

@MrsB2019x im so glad it’s not just me 🤣
my partner and I have always enjoyed an after work drink on Fridays with friends - I’ve been once since finding out (in Jan so used dry jan as an excuse)
It really bothered me last night that it made me so grumpy 😫

californiacooper · 03/02/2024 21:31

@loopyloos sorry to hear you've got a bit of a waiting game. I don't have any words of advice as I'm pregnant for the first time, but I might be in a similar position, I was scanned at Pvt clinic at what i thought was 6 weeks after some bleeding, they found nothing and said I had probably miscarried, referred me to EPU, they found I was 5weeks, no hb, and have booked me back in next Thursday. So I have a bit of a waiting situation too. Let's just hope that new scans show bigger beans hopefully with flickery little hearts.

MrsB2019x · 03/02/2024 21:39

@VT6 Omg thank you I’m glad I’m not alone 😂 I’m trying hard not to seem off with him because it’s nothing he’s done it’s just the hormones being a sick, but it’s hard 😂

bouncingblob · 03/02/2024 21:41

@loopyloos in an almost identical position. Went for a scan at 8 weeks based on LMP or approx 7 weeks based on ovulation (I tracked), but only saw a gestational sac and yolk sac measuring around 5 weeks 5 days. No fetal pole seen.

Very worried and nervous but the sonographer just thought the dates were off as I'd no other worrying signs and everything in there looked healthy. Have another scan in a week to check for a fetal pole and HB.

Wishing you luck x

loopyloos · 03/02/2024 21:57

@californiacooper @bouncingblob oh looks like we’re in the same boat really then! It’s such a hard waiting game! I wish you both luck and hopefully everything will be okay! I’ve seen lots of threads similar so it seems quite common that people are just out on dates or baby is just a bit slower xx

loopyloos · 03/02/2024 22:00

@Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow I’m so sorry to hear that❤️ I had my bfp on 5th Jan and had my scan measuring 5 weeks on the 27th Jan. I have irregular longer cycles usually from 30-36 days so hoping it could be this and dates are behind. I believe I conceived on the 23rd December which would have made me roughly 5 weeks at the scan. Epu are rescanning me on Wednesday, 8 days after my first EPU scan, hoping that’s enough time for growth. Thank you for your response.

Knope24 · 03/02/2024 22:04

Hello! Been having a read at most of the posts so far, been lovely to hear about your journeys. I'm about 7ish weeks but I wasn't firmly tracking and have very variable cycles so can't be sure.

I have a two year old little girl so I'm finding pregnancy a bit more challenging this time as there's not much rest time. I'm mainly symptom free apart from tired and gagging at a lot of food smells which is very similar to last time but to a much lesser degree (boy this time??).

I just wanted to recommend a book I read last time called 'Expecting Better' if anyone wanted to read a bit more into things like caffeine, sushi, hot baths etc. It's a great one for putting some of the scare mongering topics into perspective and all evidence based so I thought that was a good read. Looking forward to sharing the journey with you all!

HRP1990 · 03/02/2024 22:08

Congrats @Knope24 - I also have a 2 year old little girl! I also had a similar theory that my symptoms are less than in my first pregnancy (sick first time, just nausea this time round) so also thinking boy!

I’ve got my scan in the morning, nice and early too at 9.25am. 🤞🏻 I get a decent nights sleep and it rolls around quickly!
