Ah that's so exciting! I got a lot of 'scanxiety' last time so I'm hoping to be a bit more chill... We shall see!! Best of luck for tomorrow!

Cinai · 03/02/2024 23:13

@MrsB2019x yes, I know what you mean. I felt a tad resentful today as well…I had a fun day planned including going to a wedding, but none of it did happen because I was so sick. DH was pottering about as usual, going to the gym (he was quite relieved that he didn’t have to go to the wedding 😅), being in a good mood all day, and - big mistake! - telling me that I’d probably feel less sick if I improved my diet, which currently is toasted bread because everything else makes me throw up. So yes, definitely some resentment here today.
I hope you had a lovely cosy evening for yourself today while your DH was out!

Lillers · 03/02/2024 23:32

Had a fun one tonight. DH made me a baked potato for dinner because I didn’t fancy much, and put a little bit of butter on it (I didn’t want butter, but knew it would be dry without so said yes to a little bit). A while later, he asked questions about possible consequences for the baby of food poisoning, and then told me he’d used the wrong butter - the one he used was one that he’d basted the turkey with at Christmas and he couldn’t remember if he’d put his hands back in the butter after touching the turkey. I obviously quizzed him on why on earth that butter was still around (he’d been planning on giving some to our cat who loves butter - I pointed out that that would also be a bad idea). He called 111 and I spent all evening googling - we’re hopeful that the risks of toxoplasmosis are really low, but I’ll have to have a blood test for it at my booking appointment to be sure I haven’t contracted it. If I get salmonella there should be no risk to the baby, but obviously I’ll feel like crap. He’s been beside himself all evening, but all we can do really is hope that he’s wound himself up over nothing and the butter was fine.

@Lillers sometimes it’s nice to watch men work themselves all up. Whenever I get to witness it I feel a slight happiness inside of me cos at that moment that man lives through what it is like for us to live with what men are like. 😂

I know, I know I’m going to hell. 🤷🏻‍♀️

MrsB2019x · 04/02/2024 06:01

Good morning from me eating ginger biscuits in bed at 6am 🙃 I have been up since 4:30. Woke up briefly at 2:00 as well. When does the insomnia end?! I’m running on fumes most days 😢

Queijo · 04/02/2024 06:44

Morning! Actually not feeling sick this morning which is excellent because we have tons to do today.

@MrsB2019x the insomnia is vile isn’t it? I keep having insanely vivid dreams that wake me up very startled!

@Lillers god what a worry. Please tell me he’s thrown the bloody butter out now. Hopefully everything will be fine, I think it would have been visibly off if it had raw turkey in it - or you would definitely have tasted it. Fingers crossed all fine.

Lillers · 04/02/2024 07:02

@Queijo Yes he has thrown the butter out! It did taste odd to me, but then everything does at the minute so hard to know if it was my tastebuds or the butter! Chances are it’s all fine - the doctor should be calling me today to let me know what to look out for.

Bakerbean · 04/02/2024 07:13

We told my Mum yesterday! Her reaction was funny; not the excited, happy mess I thought she would be, but it was a very big shock for her as she had no idea we’d even been trying, so a lot to process. Her words went something like “WHAT?! Oh my
god. September?! Oh my god. What? How? Why?!” (The why is still grating on me now but I don’t think she really meant it, it just kind of came out as a ‘who, what, where, why, when’ sequence…). She then cried and hugged the crap out of me and my OH. So on the whole, positive. Just a shock for her and a lot to process. I think she’ll get more giddy as time goes on.

It definitely feels like a huge weight has been lifted knowing I don’t have to try and act normal and pretend I don’t feel crappy around her etc any more 😅

HRP1990 · 04/02/2024 07:26

Aww @Bakerbean that’s such a lovely way to tell your mum! I wouldn’t worry so much about her response, she was obviously so surprised bless her, it’ll sink in soon (it’s taken a while for us all to get our heads around it too don’t forget lol) Is this her first grandchild?

californiacooper · 04/02/2024 07:48

@MrsB2019x woke at 2.30, 3.50-4.30 5.20, 6.... I'm going to need a nap later.

@Lillers I am sure you will be fine... this might be a silly question, but why did you keep that?!

@bakerbean that's so cute, I always imagined I'd do a cute reveal but I ended up calling my mum in a panic about 10 mins after I did the test, sent her the picture and she said "oh my god what am I looking at have you got Covid" and I said no it's a pregnancy test - we've literally just been talking about the fact I just took a positive test. I'm sure your mum was just shocked if she didn't know you had been trying. She'll be cooing over baby socks in Morrisons soon don't worry 🤣

Lillers · 04/02/2024 07:56

@californiacooper I had no idea it had been used for that! I don’t usually eat butter (dairy intolerant so I usually use an alternative spread) so any butter in the fridge is very much my husband’s domain. We were out of the alternative spread yesterday so when he asked if I wanted butter on my potato I asked for only a little bit.

Xur · 04/02/2024 08:03

@californiacooper my partner also thought I have Covid when I first sent the picture haha

Bakerbean · 04/02/2024 08:26

@HRP1990 thank you, I agree. It’s a lot isn’t it! Yes it is her first grandchild 🫶🏼

Bakerbean · 04/02/2024 08:29

@californiacooper 🤣🤣 you just have no idea how it’s all going to hit you until it actually happens do you! On the morning that I took my first positive test, I was utterly convinced I wasn’t going to be pregnant. The shock was unreal and I just stood in the bathroom shaking, thinking, do I just run into the bedroom & tell my OH right now, or do I try and calm down & plan something more special. In the end, I went with the first option because there was NO way I could hold it in 😂

californiacooper · 04/02/2024 08:36

Okay guys hit me with your supplement regime.... I was taking a whole host of things prior to pfp (including some things that I don't think are recommended (or tested) in pregnancy - coQ10, NMN I stopped straight away) and so I just took folic acid and vit D for a week or so but now I've bought pregnacare 1st trimester. It says on the box they also recommend taking omega 3/DHA which I had before but it was combined with some other stuff that's in pregnacare, so now I'm in the market for some omega 3. Any recommendations? Are there different formulations and ones we should avoid (I'm thinking maybe heavy metal traces as coming from fish)

californiacooper · 04/02/2024 08:38

*proceive is the brand not pregnacare. And I've just seen they do a pregnancy omega.

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 04/02/2024 08:45

@californiacooper i take the pregnacare which includes omega 3. I’m still taking coq10 on the recommendation of my doctor and also inofolic alpha.

Martibum · 04/02/2024 08:49

Hello! My due date is September 3rd. Found out at 7 weeks it's TWINS 😊 already have a 3 year old daughter, our car and house seem so small now knowing 2 more people joining us.

RachSmile · 04/02/2024 08:54

Morning all, hope everyone’s had a good weekend! I feel exhausted, we had plans for a few days away to celebrate a friend’s engagement and I’ve found it so hard to keep up appearances when only a select few know about the pregnancy (9 weeks 5 days now). It’s been alcohol free bubbles or orange juice all weekend, and my stomach is already so bloated it’s not hard for people to put two and two together I’m sure! Really struggling with the socialising aspect right now when all I ever want to do is curl up in bed and sleep the day away!

Sydney1988 · 04/02/2024 09:34

@californiacooper hey - I was seeing a nutritionist/accupuncturist whilst TTC and she recommended Bare Biology’s Mums and Bumps formula. It’s DHA and EPA omega 3, you only need one capsule (win) and you don’t get fish burps. No nasties etc. I’m also taking Biocare’s Pregnancy Multivitamin. She advised both provide ideal levels of everything you and baby need at this stage. She said a lot of the brands that claim to be all natural (Wild Nutrition) for example, don’t actually provide the optimum levels you need. Happy to send links! X

HRP1990 · 04/02/2024 10:01

Just had our scan - baby is measuring 8 weeks! (Few days behind what I thought) ovulated from the left which was quite interesting to know! Our daughter was a dream too. Feels so real now 🥹

HRP1990 · 04/02/2024 10:05

@MudandMoet we got a McDonald’s drive through breakfast to celebrate 😂 thought you’d appreciate that

MrsB2019x · 04/02/2024 10:05

Beautiful scan @HRP1990 ! 🥹 this thread is full of so much good news!

Congratulations on twins @Martibum !

Bakerbean · 04/02/2024 10:18

@HRP1990 congratulations!! What a huge relief. 😂😂 we also did McDonald’s drive thru to celebrate too!!

Martibum · 04/02/2024 10:33

Still feels surreal that's there's twins! I'm in Ireland, I paid for a private scan at 7 weeks, both twins measuring the same. It will be high risk as they are in the same sac. I think that means identical too. I didn't really ask too many questions!
My "big" scan is the 1st of March which seems like forever away. I'm very tired but craving meat/protein which is good. I'm the same size as what I was 4 months pregnant with my daughter :/ . I'm just shy of 10 weeks now.
