@Cinai oh so pleased your scan went well.

I don't really have any cravings, I don't feel sick... but I feel like I've been punched in both boobs. I am blessed with bee stings so I'm optimistically looking in the mirror for any signs of growth in that respect. 🤣

Re friends and family- our friends are absolutely delighted, parents seem quite happy but not over the moon like I had expected. I suppose with the IVF it's not so much of a surprise.

MudandMoet · 01/02/2024 21:53

@Kate543 okay, thanks for that. It's probably really rare but like yourself first time around we all either don't know about these things or a little oblivious to it happening to us so it's good to hear other people's stories and learn x

Lillers · 02/02/2024 03:43

Oh good, the actual vomiting part of pregnancy has begun. I’m 6+1, had awful nausea up to now but just been woken up in the middle of the night to actually be sick. What a joy pregnancy is!

Khanga27 · 02/02/2024 08:37

Hey all, I’m now 9+5 weeks and have managed to catch my second cough since getting pregnant. I initially thought this was caused by the acid reflux but now I’m not so sure as I’m coughing up mucus.

This time I am worried it’s an infection as my mucus is yellow and had a very small amount of blood in (though I’ve been coughing a lot overnight). After my MMC in August I’m so worried that this could cause another miscarriage and I’m really struggling today. I’ve got the doctors at 10.20am so hopefully can get some answers.

Cinai · 02/02/2024 09:08

Oh yes @Lillers this nausea/sickness is the worst. I was actually sick for the first time last Sunday, but not anymore since…hopefully this was just a blip for you!

Sorry to hear that you’re unwell @Khanga27 Good that you managed to get an appointment, I’m sure they will sort you out and reassure you.

Decaffe · 02/02/2024 10:03

Morning everyone, is anyone else having anxiety dreams? I’ve been sleeping well this week but then last night I dreamt:

• I was on holiday and the taxi driver wanted me to pay him over £500 for the journey from the airport - money I didn’t have.
• I went to my NHS scan next week and the nurse really told me off for having a private scan the other day
• The nurse proceeded with the scan but found that the embryo hadn’t grown at all since my private scan and it was still 3.43mm. I was poring over all the charts and confidence intervals to find any hope.

I kept on waking up through the night as well.

I know it’s just a dream but ugh! What a terrible dream, it’s really shook me up today which is a shame as I thought I’d been doing okay since my scan on Monday!

Ifyouknowyouknowyouknow · 02/02/2024 10:19

@Decaffe Ive been having awful dreams and sleeping really badly…last night dreamt I’d had a mc and woke up today convinced it was real. I’ve also been waking up at 5am every day and not able to get back to sleep.

My sickness is really up and down as well so I’m lurching between feeling horrendous and feeling well but then really anxious it means something is wrong. I’ve just eaten a massive bowl of soup that was meant to be my lunch 🙈.

My scan is next Friday but contemplating moving it earlier as I’d really like the reassurance.

Xur · 02/02/2024 10:20

I just been sleeping really bad, I wake up several times per night :( my dreams can’t make that any worse

MudandMoet · 02/02/2024 10:26

I'm not having the dreams anymore but I am still sleeping so bad. Not helped by the fact I'm up peeing at least 3 times a night and I've limited my drink intake after 8pm at that. I would love to get a solid 5 hours in and feel like I've had a decent sleep. At least I'll be ready for the sleepless nights!

Lillers · 02/02/2024 10:27

@Decaffe I’ve been sleeping so badly. Not getting to sleep, waking up multiple times in the night, last night I was sick at 3am then couldn’t get back to sleep until my alarm was about to go off (had to call in sick to work again today). But when I do get some sleep, it feels like my brain is going into party mode - I keep dreaming that my boss is telling me off for “pretending to be pregnant to get free sick days”. I think it’s because I’m feeling so ill but don’t see the midwife for another 3 weeks, so it’s definitely playing on my anxiety that the midwife will tell me I’ve made a mistake 😂

Bakerbean · 02/02/2024 11:32

Just home from our booking in appointment, 2 hours later 😳 (thank you complex medical history 😅). Is anyone else going to be consultant lead?

Our midwife was absolutely lovely. It still won’t feel real for me until we’ve had our scan, but it’s great to think we’re at least in the system now!

longingtobe23 · 02/02/2024 11:37

Just had my nhs scan and heartbeat seen, flickering away, didn’t get to hear it yet. But I saw it lots. 6+2 which is behind what I thought but all normal she said…

it was a bit of a mess, I didn’t get photos, 40 min wait in the wrong place then they said oh sorry I assumed you’d been seen
Rushed to ultrasound and they said sorry no spaces… I cried and they squeezed me in 🤦🏼‍♀️ they told me it happens a lot and to complain!

obviously not what I was expecting but overall just grateful and pleased all okay so far, the nurse then kindly say why don’t you come back in two weeks for another as it’s a long wait until 12 weeks.

so I think she was apologising in her own way ♥️ this was a new hospital to me as I moved since my last baby so I’ll be tempted to push for my old one at this rate 🫠

VT6 · 02/02/2024 11:44

@longingtobe23 glad you got to see your little bean! It’s a shame you didn’t get a picture but hopefully next time 🤞🏼

Ive got my private scan tomorrow and now every strange feeling I get im freaking out and thinking the worst!
im 1 day past the time i mc’d last pregnancy so that isn’t helping 😫

siobhanmt247 · 02/02/2024 11:50

@Bakerbean i was consultant led with my first and pretty sure I will be this time as I've had a gastric bypass and high risk of gestational diabetes.

longingtobe23 · 02/02/2024 11:58

@VT6 she told me to go back and ask for them but I was already up and down 3/4 flights of steps at this stage and wanted out 😅 two weeks I should see more and the pics will be worth it!

it’s so hard all my symptoms vanished last night and this morning but it must be purely psychological ✨ fingers crossed for a smooth and positive outcome tomorrow

MudandMoet · 02/02/2024 11:58

@Bakerbean I'm consultant led too. Age and TTC history. I think all that kicks in from around 12 - 14 weeks but I'm not entirely sure (pretty much like I'm not entirely sure about a lot with the pregnancy malarkey 😂) have you any idea? X

cd24x · 02/02/2024 12:00

Morning all. Just been catching up, as what I thought was really bad nausea was actually a stomach bug that my DS brought home from nursery last week. I've been in bed the last 2 days. Still feeling rough, but at least I've managed to shower today!

@longingtobe23 sorry you didn't get any pics, but glad you pushed to be scanned anyway. glad all is ok.

@Bakerbean I'll likely be consultant led this time around due to growing a whopper of a DS last time and electing for C section this time round.

@Khanga27 hope you get some answers from the GP.

@VT6 good luck for your scan tomorrow. I'm also at the point where my last pregnancy stopped growing, so I'm with you on the freaking out. In the words of others - Pregnant until proven otherwise!

Cinai · 02/02/2024 12:00

How does everyone handle social situations in the early nauseatic weeks? I have a wedding and a dinner with the in-laws this weekend. No one knows that I’m pregnant because I’m only 6 + 4 weeks. I’m terrified of being sick at one of these occasions. DH suggested to cancel with a Covid excuse, but then I don’t want to restrain myself to my home either for the next few weeks.

VT6 · 02/02/2024 12:25

@cd24x its bloody awful isn’t it! I’m not sure if being blissfully unaware is better than knowing anything is wrong 😑
but I will keep telling myself I’m pregnant until I’m told otherwise!
I’m normally a very rational level headed person 🤣

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 02/02/2024 12:41

@Cinai I only go to the unavoidable socials. I've told DH there is to be no lingering around, not staying late, no one extra drink at the end etc. I also go for the veggie menu as it's generally lighter and meat can make me more nauseous.

Why not tell the in laws at least?

Khanga27 · 02/02/2024 12:45

@Cinai @cd24x Thank you. Saw GP. No temperature or other signs of infection and he’s confident it’s acid reflux that’s irritating my throat and causing the little bit of blood especially at night and to
up my peptac which I was prescribed (says on label safe for pregnancy and doctor and NHS website confirmed the same but I’ve been so nervous about taking anything to be honest).

Cat2022 · 02/02/2024 13:15

@Cinai I would just be selective with what you go to and if you are having an extra bad day cancel. I think at a wedding as presumptively there will be quite a few people there you should be able to blend in/ sneak away if you need to and call it an early night if you get too tired.

Cat2022 · 02/02/2024 13:15

@Cinai i have a 3 hour drive tomorrow and then a kids birthday party Sunday so just praying my nausea behaves

californiacooper · 02/02/2024 13:39

@longingtobe23 it sounds like they were very busy, but at least you got to see things going well!!!

Is insomnia a symptom? I'm usually quite a good sleeper, but I can't sleep past 4am now.... wake up like it's the middle of the day. So annoying as I'm tired by the afternoon.

The boob pain is becoming intense now. Does this go on for the whole pregnancy???

What scans have we got coming up this weekend?? Can't wait to see pics!! If only I'd have NOT gone for that scan on Monday, I'd have still been going tomorrow, and might not have had the start to the week I had. Perhaps that amount of bleeding is just normal then?!

The scan clinic just called to offer me a full refund and apologise, the manager (I presume also a sonographer) had a look at the pictures and said she can see an unknown fluid collection that didn't really look like a pregnancy (I was told it was bleeding) and the lining thickness "could have been measured wrong" as the picture wasn't at the best angle. I said thank you very much for the refund and she wished me well. A result somewhat! 😄

I don't normally work Friday afternoons but I said I would today and I wish I hadn't... zzzz

MrsB2019x · 02/02/2024 14:03

@Bakerbean I was consultant led last time and I assume I will be again this time thanks to rheumatoid arthritis

@californiacooper Same my sleep is horrendous at the moment, except my wake up time is 3am and it takes a good couple of hours to get back to sleep. It’s only 2pm and I’m already exhausted!
