I found this today, it's what I got at the booking in appt. Not sure why I've not noticed it before. Crap photocopy but an idea of what to expect and when, which I admit was kind of baffling me x

@MudandMoet I think there’s a similar timeline in my notes somewhere or there was last time that looks vaguely familiar. I’m hoping we follow that schedule this time 😂 in my last pregnancy after 28 weeks I had 3 scans a week it felt like I lived at the bloody hospital

RedFox24 · 01/02/2024 18:19

@MrsB2019x i had my booking appointment yesterday 8w5 and straight after it triggered my first scan appointment, booked for the 29th Jan ❤️

I think I might book a private scan at 10 weeks as it’s my bday it 2 weeks and my parents are insisting on coming over - and I can’t make another excuse of why I’m not drinking - so I’m going to tell them 😂😂

Xur · 01/02/2024 18:43

@MudandMoet I’ve never been to the hospital before. My friend gave birth today morning and she said when they went to the hospital to give birth they walked around looking for doors like a pair of thieves 😂 presume that will be me when I go for the scan

RoSco197 · 01/02/2024 18:57

@HoneyandSunshine I’m catching up on the thread and just wanted to share I had a very similar experience telling my MIL! We have a family trip booked to a country at risk of Zika at the end of this month. So after telling her mentioned that we thought we would have to cancel… she was disappointed that we wouldn’t make the trip and let this completely override any happiness/ joy for a new grandbaby! I really couldn’t wrap my head around it - almost felt like I had done something wrong by getting pregnant. So really sympathise with you ❤️

SC126 · 01/02/2024 19:36

Do we have to wait until our booking in appt before we get sent our 12 week scan letters? My booking appt isn’t until I’m 10.5 weeks as it was earliest she could do and it’s just a telephone call, she said we can arrange for bloods etc to be done after this 😫

@MudandMoet I work at a hospital and can agree hospital parking is the WORST! 😂

longingtobe23 · 01/02/2024 19:36

@HoneyandSunshine im so sorry they’ve been this way, I can’t relate personally I had secondary infertility so everyone who I’ve told thus far cried as they didn’t know I’d ever get here. They’ve cried more than me and my husband who are in shock still. I did however get some shit when I got pregnant at 23 first time unmarried (eyeroll)… we are now married and together 14 years this year .. I digress

BUT … my sister is as I dub “fertile myrtle” and she’s due her 3rd, pregnant first time every time and very much planned - lots of people have been very crude to her since she announced.

She’ll have 3 under 5… she’s been asked;
was it planned? Wow you’re brave? Why bother when you have one of each?
postman said “I think you’re mad”
my grandmother asked if she was going to be sterilised during her section now as 3 is too many 😧 I mean … Jesus keep it to yourself

even my own in laws when I told them her news said 3 was irresponsible! I am baffled by this outdated attitude… I know so many with 3+ and people should be nothing but supportive ♥️✨

MrsB2019x · 01/02/2024 19:39

@RedFox24 That’s really helpful thank you, our hospital is huge and covers a vast area so I worry there’s gonna be a long wait if it doesn’t get triggered until the booking appt 😩

Xur · 01/02/2024 19:50

@longingtobe23 I’m really sorry for your sister 😳
I mean…my family is toxic and my parents do not know what unconditional love is. A few years ago my older brother announced at Christmas dinner that they’re expecting a grandchild (their first grandchild). And my mom said she doesn’t have any energy for grandkids and that’s just because my brother is not married, he’s not settled, probably had a girlfriend then but my parents didn’t take him seriously because he never brought her to introduce and he does not own a property. The pregnancy didn’t go to term.
Now fast forward few years I am pregnant now and my sister reminded me of what happened to my brother and suggested maybe I shouldn’t tell them (it’s weird I know), but I had already told them the day before I told my sister and my mom seemed happy. That is I think because we have been together for years now and we are financially stable and my parents have met him. Some families are cruel. Both cases surprised everyone because I was never the favourite child-my brother was always my mom’s favourite. So I was indeed surprised about this cruel reaction.

Cinai · 01/02/2024 19:50

So I did my scan (thanks to all who’ve reassured me to go!) and there was a heartbeat 😊Measuring 6+3.

Xur · 01/02/2024 19:51

@Cinai congratulations, I hope your mind is at ease now 🥰

SmushyButt · 01/02/2024 19:56

Has anyone else found themselves addicted to fresh orange juice? This is the one craving that has been consistent throughout all my pregnancies 😅 can’t get enough of the stuff!

siobhanmt247 · 01/02/2024 20:07

Congratulations @Cinai

Congratulations @MudandMoet i can't wait to get to ten weeks. I feel like I might be able to breathe a sigh of relief then

MudandMoet · 01/02/2024 20:18

@Kate543 were things not picked up before 28 weeks if you don't mind my asking, also what was it at 28 weeks that made you realise you needed the extra scans ie: was it blood tests or a scan around that time that made you aware something wasn't quite right?

@SC126 I sympathise having to deal with that situation regularly, even the staff car parks are an issue at our local hospital too. It's all you hear anyone talking about when you're sat around waiting. Everyone's BP must be super raised already.

@Cinai brilliant - so pleased for you xx

@SmushyButt I'm on the OJ too! Love it and I don't normally drink loads of it but can't get enough right now!!

MudandMoet · 01/02/2024 20:19

@siobhanmt247 thank you ☺️ It'll soon come around, I think after week 7 ish it seems to have gone a lot quicker. Those first 7 weeks felt like years! Xx

Cinai · 01/02/2024 20:33

Thanks ladies. Time to try and calm down a little 🙂

siobhanmt247 · 01/02/2024 20:35

@MudandMoet gkad you said that. I'm 7 weeks tomorrow :)

HRP1990 · 01/02/2024 20:43

@SmushyButt Yes! Fresh orange juice and failing that a large orange cut into fours lol 🤌🏻

Kate543 · 01/02/2024 20:51

@MudandMoet oh my last pregnancy was an all round disaster 😂 nothing was picked up until 28 weeks when they found her heart condition and that I had absent flow from my placenta so from there I was monitored with 3 scans a week until 30 weeks when I had to be admitted to the hospital and little girl came by emergency c section at 32 weeks due to reverse flow from my placenta. Because it was my first pregnancy I didn’t really know how much movement was normal and I had an anterior placenta so always felt less anyway I think but thankfully it got picked up so everything worked out with a happy ending :) But the midwife said this is a new pregnancy and this time my placenta could be fine (although I’m sure they will check this time). I am feeling abit like a crazy person this time worrying about it but trying to be positive that it is unlikely to happen again.

side note today my very sweet toddler kept trying to love on the babies at her playgroup so hopefully this is a good sign she might enjoy her new big sister role 😂🤞🏻

Kate543 · 01/02/2024 20:53

Sorry to all those that haven’t had the reaction they were expecting from families, I know I don’t know any of you but I am extremely happy for you all xx

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 01/02/2024 20:59

@Cinai oh so happy for you!!!

MudandMoet · 01/02/2024 21:25

@Kate543 crikey that sounds really stressful from 28 weeks! I've not heard of absent flow or reverse flow from the placenta. How was this picked up at 28 weeks, was it lack of movement or a scan or something different? I bet you'll be super vigilant this time, are they scanning and monitoring you more this time due to your past experience?

Kate543 · 01/02/2024 21:38

@MudandMoet yes this time I will be monitored abit closer I think. But they picked it up on a scan, they always do a Doppler on the umbilical cord to check blood flow from placenta to baby. Reduced movement can be a sign it’s one of the reasons it’s important later on in pregnancy to go in if you feel less kicks ever.

ForeverHopeful67 · 01/02/2024 21:38

Congratulations with those who had more positive scans today 🥰🥰

And a few were asking about the nhs scan, my midwife done my first half of the booking in appointment on the phone ( same midwife as last time so mostly reconfirming details) and then said right this will trigger a scan to be booked you'll receive this in the post! - hope that helps, it arrived a few days after.

Planning to tell my parents this weekend eeeeek! I've also just been offered a promotion today which involves a lot of added responsibility - I'm very career driven so usually I'd chew their hand off at this. But can't help but feel it's bad timing 😩

My toddler also got sent home from nursery today with a high temp, looks like we're in for a fun weekend!

Kate543 · 01/02/2024 21:41

@ForeverHopeful67 oh no I hope little one isn’t too poorly! And congrats on the promotion which is an achievement even if the timing isn’t the best x
