@novamama can I ask what your waters breaking were like? I had a splash last night, in my pjs, odourless. Put a pad in to monitor it, but nothing really since. Should it keep trickling?

I don't think it was wee, haven't been incontinent at all, and it didn't smell of urine or anything.

Hankthehonk · 08/02/2024 07:33

Been in the newborn bubble - we got home from hospital yesterday - so still catching up with messages. Excited to see more babies arriving and labour starting for others

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 did you call hospital about your waters breaking?
Since you haven't had any more it possibly isn't your waters yet, but also possible only part of your waters went. In that case they'd put a time limit on bringing you in to burst the rest and be induced due to infection risk. This is how both my labours started!
However in both cases even though it was half my waters there was still a lot of liquid. On Sunday night I had three separate gushes and was soaking through pads quickly.
Short version you should call up and see what they say!

Hankthehonk · 08/02/2024 07:34

@redxlondon huge congratulations 🎊 and well done! Pain and snuggles here too 😂 we're on day 4, got home yesterday and the pain is already feeling more manageable

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/02/2024 07:42

@Hankthehonk it must be lovely to be back home! Hope you're feeling good and recovering well.

Just the one gush, only about 6 cm diameter. Maybe it was something else, as nothing overnight. I did call, they set up a file for me, and said come in later today to be checked

Hankthehonk · 08/02/2024 07:46

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 that's great they're getting you back in. Sounds like things are progressing for you, good luck whatever happens today!

novamama · 08/02/2024 08:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it could definitely be the waters, do monitor the pad and feelings of trickling. Also don't change the pad before going to MAU, they'll want to have a look. Hopefully things are starting for you ❤️

I was wearing a pad and I woke up because I felt trickling. Not tones, but enough to realise something is coming. I went to wee and noticed my pad was wet. Just as you found, transparent odourless, it looked like I poured a glass of water on it. Changed pad and I went to sleep. After about one hour I felt the same tricking sensation and I stood up, pad soaked again. It kept going and going, but for me went to pink colour at about 7h after waters breaking. They are coming pink still.

LavenderSweetPea · 08/02/2024 08:03

@novamama I'm no expert, but it sounds very promising they could be the tall deal. Fingers crossed they keep progressing!

Meeting · 08/02/2024 10:17

An eventful morning for me!
My waters broke at about 7:30am and it was a huge gush of fluid, called the MAU who said to come in. I was offered and immediate induction which I thought was odd. I declined so was told I need to go home and come back to be induced tomorrow morning if baby doesn't arrive on her own by then. I'm only having contractions about once every hour and I wouldn't say they're very strong so chances of induction are looking high, not sure how to feel about that. Anything I should be doing to help things along at home?

@redxlondon congratulations! So pleased for you and wishing you a speedy recovery x

@novamama glad things are progressing for you! Did you choose to wait 48hrs because I wasn't given that option!?

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I think waters are totally different for everyone. I had another huge gush when I got to the hospital which absolutely soaked my clothing and I had to change. I know some people have said theirs wasn't much more than a trickle!

anony1111 · 08/02/2024 10:33

Ahhh it's all going on for most of you this morning! I hope everything goes well for you ladies whose waters have broken!

Congratulations to you all whose little bundles have arrive already 🥰

@Meeting as if they offered induction straight away without giving you chance to progress on your own 🤯 I think you just need to try keep as active as possible and use a birthing ball if you have one to try get contractions moving along

Meeting · 08/02/2024 10:37

@anony1111 I know!! I'm not overdue and have had 0 complications so I honestly don't know why they would offer an immediate induction! Thanks for the advice, I spent most of yesterday on my ball so back at it today!

novamama · 08/02/2024 10:44

@Meeting welcome to the club!!!!

It's great you already started having contractions! My contractions started only after 19h post-waters break!

They told me if no contractions happen after 24h then to come in, as they recommend to have my waters broken fully (as for me it's only ever been trickles). If that doesn't start contractions either then they would offer the drip.

Because my contractions started eventually before the 24h mark, they let me get into established labour by myself up to 48h post-waters break.

If I won't go into established labour before the 48h mark, I need to come in for continuous mornitoring.

So I am at home at the moment, hoping for contractions to ramp up!

Hope this helps and that it goes well for you 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

anony1111 · 08/02/2024 10:45

@Meeting just shows how much induction is pushed on women these days when it's not even needed, which is sad really. Fingers crossed things progress nicely for you 🤞🏼

RachLeeds · 08/02/2024 10:53

They changed the policy recently to offer induction straight away (after waters have broken). It’s because there is an increased risk of infection - still a small risk though.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/02/2024 11:40

@Meeting oh that's great! I saw a midwife again for acupuncture today. She said don't put anything in there, ie have a sweep, sex, use my Aniball etc to minimise infection. And if possible (although tough in this crappy weather) walk, keep active, and do curb walking. Not looking too appealing but will try it later

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 08/02/2024 11:40

@novamama really hoping your contractions step up!

Mummapenguin20 · 08/02/2024 12:07

CharXo · 08/02/2024 17:26

Hi ladies.. I was due in for my section at 7am but after a night full of braxton hicks, I went for a wee at 4:15am and my whole mucus plug went splat on the bathroom floor! I called hospital and they said to come in.. baby Teddy was born at 8:58am weighing 9lb 15oz! We’re still here as recovering from the section but absolutely in love 🩵

PeeBeee · 08/02/2024 17:35

Hey ladies, 37+2 today and out of absolutely nowhere, my bowels have violently opened without much warning twice today😅thankfully I am at home so the sudden cramp was enough for me to run to the loo on time but my question is, has anyone experienced this a day or 2 before labour? Knowing my luck it means absolutely nothing lol

Hankthehonk · 08/02/2024 17:48

@CharXo congratulations 🎊 on Teddy's arrival, and well done mama!! Wow that's an impressive weight. Hope you're both doing well and being well looked after
