@novamama @Mangotango39 Thanks for your replies. I managed to get back to sleep and it’s nowhere near as bad but I have read online that it can come and go and is usually worse at night so will ring mat advice line this morning to be on the safe side as it can be serious to the baby and may need to have baby earlier. Hopefully it is just normal hormonal pregnancy itching but best to rule anything more serious out! X

Going in for my induction today, bang on my due date due to GD. Feeling quite apprehensive about it all!
I was up last night retching due to acid reflux too which was great timing and now can't sleep. I've maybe had 5 hours... Doesn't bode well! Hoping they bring me in later in the day so I can nap today before as I've been so tired. My PGP is also flaring up.
I thought I was doing okay with being this pregnant but I just can't wait to not be now 😅 Wish there was a button I could press that just magically ejects baby painlessly though!

Hankthehonk · 03/02/2024 07:23

@RegardingPersephone ahh when will someone invent that button 😂
Good luck today, I'm sure you already know this but induction can take a while in some cases. Good idea to nap before going in if you can but it might also be possible to rest in the early stages.
I've been retching with acid reflux this week too, and also struggling with pgp - so I share your excitement to not be pregnant anymore! Even though recovery and newborn life will be its own challenge, I'm looking forward to feeling my body get a little better every day instead of worse.

KayakingBex · 03/02/2024 07:25

@PeeBeee - as a fellow sufferer of all over body itching I really really sympathise! Give them a call in the morning - it’s worth checking.

Im going to give either out of hours or midwives a call myself today as itching is driving me crazy and hives are getting worse. I keep waking up scratching - occasionally making my skin bleed even though I cut my nails super short. Its spread overnight to include my neck and back.

the only thing that’s helped so far is an oatmeal bath soak. I also found rubbing some oatmeal powder on the worst bits gave me temporary relief over night when I work up scratching. Noticing my hand is puffing up now.

Meeting · 03/02/2024 07:26

@RegardingPersephone best of luck today, I hope all goes well and you're able to get a bit of rest first. How exciting!

It seems there's a few of us with acid reflux/heartburn and retching, not fun at all. Another day of waiting and hoping for something to happen for me today!

KayakingBex · 03/02/2024 07:32

@RegardingPersephone - good luck for today! And yeah totally same - I was actually briefly enjoying being pregnant for the first time and then the itching started 😅. I think I’m ready now!

Was getting a few crampy pains in the night and some loose bowl movements so 🤞 that’s a sign labour will be on the way although knowing my luck so far it’s just digestive trouble 🫠

Mumtothreex · 03/02/2024 08:21

For those of you with acid reflux - Ive been on omeprazole since I was 12 weeks and it’s been a life saver - although probably a bit late in the day to mention now we’re in Feb 😂 x

PeeBeee · 03/02/2024 08:34

@KayakingBex oh that looks like torture😭

I am on my way up to EOU. They said they want to do bloods and listen in to baby then will send me home to await results and if they are positive, I will need to come back up for ctg etc, maybe this will give me the boot up the bum to pack my hospital bags!

Cheetocat · 03/02/2024 08:44

38 weeks today! We're off to IKEA today which is quite the trek but we've no storage for baby stuff. Hopefully all the walking will get baby wanting out. 🤣

Felt like I had hay-fever yesterday which would make sense because we basically have spring weather where I am but I've woken up with a scratchy throat. Really hope I'm not getting sick at this point. I'm having tea and toast now and will monitor how I feel.

HopeAndStrength · 03/02/2024 08:50

Oh that looks sore @KayakingBex

Good luck today @RegardingPersephone

I'm home as an outpatient with a balloon induction device. The insertion process was fine for me but it did trigger period like pains (hadn't missed those!) for about six hours. I've woken up feeling sore but happy that I got some sleep in my own bed.

Due back this evening unless anything starts to happen any sooner, fingers crossed it will have been successful.

Clueless13 · 03/02/2024 09:11

Thanks for your kind words❤️
@mummylove24 @MummyTo4BoysXXXX @LavenderSweetPea @DmcinT

I'm now 38+1, I was 37+5 when I came in to start induction. I was originally planned to be induced at 38 weeks because baby is on the smaller side but I had a growth scan Monday and the consultant wanted baby out earlier so booked me in a few days earlier.

I did say to the doctor I’m very tempted to go for a section and she kind of without saying it in so many words said she would recommend it due to it being a major surgery and any long term implications, so would suggest a balloon first. I’ve been waiting for a doctor to come up and insert it (I’ve already said I’d like gas and air while they do it) but they wait is making me so anxious!!! I have 0 pain tolerance.

I honestly didn’t think induction would take this long, I thought I’d be holding my baby the next day 🥲

Clueless13 · 03/02/2024 09:13

@HopeAndStrength any tips on the insertion? 🙏🏽 And what does it actually look/feel like on the other end, is there a tube sticking out and how are you finding going to the bathroom with it in? (Sorry for all the questions!)

That sounds like a good plan! Fingers crossed all is well with your wee one. I’m waiting on my liver blood test result as well - should find out on Monday.

RachLeeds · 03/02/2024 09:27

Good luck to everybody having their inductions - let us know how you get on!

KayakingBex · 03/02/2024 09:32

@HopeAndStrength - very! good luck with the induction

CheeseAndCrackersx · 03/02/2024 10:44

Can anyone be induced as a outpatient?
I'd happily have 1 if could go home I just didn't want to be stuck in the hospital for days and still nothing

PeeBeee · 03/02/2024 11:20

just left eou and have to wait about to i get a phonecall with blood results and come back (i live 45mins away and my little girl is with my mum so no point in waiting at home). Blood pressure was 134/79 which is high for me but maybe not an issue this far on in pregnancy? She mentioned something about 3 ketones in my urine and that i must be hungry but i had a sausage baguette an hour and a half before so I know its not hunger/not eating enough so now I am bit worried!

DmcinT · 03/02/2024 11:22

Oh @KayakingBex u poor thing, it’s actually such a tough thing to suffer with, did they mention anything about bringing u in early because of it?

@RegardingPersephone best of luck today, I’ve a feeling we’ll have a few baby updates over the next few days 🥰🩵🩷

@HopeAndStrength great to be able to get home with the induction balloon in, I didn’t know that was an option, so much more comfortable❤️

@PeeBeee eveeything crossed for ur blood tests, my results were back in about 2 hrs when they tested me for it a few weeks ago so u hopefully u won’t have long to wait 🤞🏽

Kelb79 · 03/02/2024 13:08

Anyone else really wanna punch their OH right now?? 🤔🫣
he’s constantly moaning that he’s tired and he’s got sore feet or sore legs or sore bloody something else!! We’re on a winter break from our restaurant right now and he stays in bed until super late because he’s just sooooo tired ….
and I’m there, 38 weeks pregnant and starting to really struggle but just getting on with it and not daring to moan coz he’ll just say “all you do is moan” 😡😡
literally wanna just wallop him!!

PeeBeee · 03/02/2024 13:35

Blood results normal and re did my urine after i had lunch and no ketones now!😊they have given me tablets for the itching! Whilst I was waiting for them to call me to come back I went to the shops and got all my toiletries for my hospital bag so at least I now have the kick up the arse I needed to get sorted! 17 days till my elcs!

KayakingBex · 03/02/2024 13:45

@DmcinT - not yet although I believe they will if it turns out to be my liver. I’m overdue now so my guess would be they would want to bring my induction forward if it is my liver.

I’m trying to manage the symptoms for now, keep an eye on baby movements and do things to encourage baby along. I’m thinking I will definitely be in touch with my midwife at this rate though to see what my options are. She saw me with this on Monday but at that point it was only on my bump and I was managing. I’m barely managing now and it’s everywhere except my boobs, face and feet.

Yay - glad all is normal. I hope the tablets help 🤞

DmcinT · 03/02/2024 14:30

@PeeBeee great the result was negative, it’s such relief althou the itching is still a torture, hopefully urs eases over few days. I think mine was an allergic reaction to something now in hindsight.

@KayakingBex oh ur over now anyways so they could take u in any day really ❤️

novamama · 03/02/2024 14:41

@PeeBeee so glad to read this!! Fingers crossed itching eases with the tablets.
