@DmcinT I’m 42, my consultant wanted to induce me, I declined, I’ve chosen extra monitoring twice a week and scans. Currently 37 weeks, baby is perfectly fine. She’s not ready to come out yet 😅 I have a sweep at 38+2 but I might decline it depends on monitoring though

DmcinT · 02/02/2024 18:42

@mummylove24 thanks for sharing, I’m really not sure what do to, as badly as I want to meet her I’d just prefer if she decided to come by herself 🙈 are we making life much harder for ourselves & baby if we try forcing them to come before they are ready 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m really not sure

KayakingBex · 02/02/2024 18:48

@MrsW9 and @DmcinT thank you both! I’ll honestly try anything at this point! Noted both of these and will give a try if the pine tar soap doesn’t work. Currently living in the bath 😅 and try an oatmeal soak which is supposed to help.

my sister in law gave me some clary sage some weeks back I may break that out and see if it encourages baby out too 🙏

PeeBeee · 02/02/2024 19:01

Tmi but can we talk haemorrhoids ladies?!🤢🤢

I had a tinnny one about a month ago that just went away itself but last night after pooping, I started feeling a lump and its been really uncomfortable all day and I braved taking a photo to double check what it was (about 15 years ago I got an abscess near tail bone and needed it drained and was dreading that’s what it was again, weeks before having a baby - thankfully it isn’t, pretty sure its a haemorrhoid).

I am assuming it’s going to need treated as it’s not entirely small. Anyone dealt with this? Pregnancy is so much fun!

KayakingBex · 02/02/2024 19:02

@mummylove24 and @DmcinT - I am hoping for going into labour naturally too. I’m booked in for an induction on the 12th as I’ll be heading for 42 weeks at that point so seemed a reasonable point - I know it gets riskier after 42 weeks. Midwife didn’t seem keen on doing sweeps although was offered but she nudged me more towards setting an induction date if I’ve gone really overdue.

hopefully we will all get a natural start to labour!

KayakingBex · 02/02/2024 19:06

@PeeBeee - oh no, they are horrible! I had a bad one that bled around Christmas time. It healed up on its own (took awhile and was damn sore). I’ve been trying to avoid constipation since than and eating veg and fibre etc to try and prevent them but it’s not easy at all! Pregnancy really not glamorous!

PeeBeee · 02/02/2024 19:08

@KayakingBex thank you! i will up my fibre and water intake! So done with being pregnant now😅😅

Ebonythoughts · 02/02/2024 19:31

Anyone have any ideas what I can use for razer burn? I think I pressed too hard when I was shaving and have rash/burning/itching near my groin/inner thigh and it’s irritating. Tried Vaseline to soothe it and also sudacrem and I don’t know what else to try.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 02/02/2024 19:43

@Clueless13 ohhh bless you hun, how many weeks/days pregnant are you? The process of induction can be long & draining I found out for myself last year as was sold a dream like I would have my baby the same day I went in for my induction!.. went in at 37+1 & son wasn't born until 37+5!!.. and very similar to you I was 1cm dilated already before induction process, I opted first for the balloon catheter (not going to lie i found it really painful so she offered me some gas & air) but like you my cervix was high posterior but soft apparently and after having that in for 24hours it only got me to 2cm!! Didn't "fall out" like they said it would because its meant to have a good success rate if you have had previous babies/births, anyway so I then opted for the tampon looking thing to be inserted and kept in for 24hours & that got me to 3cm (so they could break my waters) left me for another 24hours after that which I wanted to wait & see if my body would start contracting but nope it didn't! So eventually I had to be put on the hormone drip to kick start things which did work & then my body just took over (managed only on gas & air by the way) if I remember rightly they started drip at around half 11/midnight & my son was born at gone 3am in morning - so end result was worth it I suppose 🩵 but induction isn't for everyone, it works straightaway for some & not for others (including myself) but I think it's obvious that my body wasn't ready but whatever you decide hun remember it's your body and you have a right to choose which ever way going forward is going to be best for you!! Have any questions feel free to ask 🙂 and goodluck and keep us posted hun, all the best 💕 plus a virtual hug too! x

@DmcinT how old are you? I'm 39, and they've said they won't induce me until 41 weeks basically

Musicalitymum · 02/02/2024 19:54

@DmcinT Im 42 and they’ve offered me inducing this Monday. I’ll be 38 +6. I was very anti it until I researched and saw the risk of stillbirth in mums over 40 rises massively in week 39. I just think it’s not worth the risk to refuse it x

Callmemummynotmaaa · 02/02/2024 19:55

@PeeBeee pharmacy has creams BUT GP can prescribe a steroid cream for use for a few days/week that generally tends to help soften them, meaning you can “push” them gently (using the pads of your fingers, wet or with cream/lube of some sort) back in (that’s miles more effective than over the counter stuff). NOT glamorous but I found if I can do that: I stop them rubbing/bleeding/catching/growing.

The other tip I have is regards toileting. A poo stool helps! And rather than push out, try instead to breathe as if you’re filling your stomach full of air. It moves the bowels with less pressure.

Luckily mine shrink post pregnancy but sadly they are a feature from early on in every one - even if I avoid constipation (though I recon my HG/dehydration doesn’t help 😭)

Callmemummynotmaaa · 02/02/2024 19:57

Have you shopped for baby yet? The yellow nappy rash cream - metanium - will stain pants but is in a league of its own for soothing skin

Ladies has anyone thought about conception after baby is here. I’m thinking he of having the injection just curious when they will give me it x

CharXo · 02/02/2024 20:57

@Mummapenguin20 i was going to have the coil fitted at the same time as my section.. the hospital told me id have to get it from my GP and bring it with me on the day, my GP has refused and said I need to get it from the hospital.. so looks like I won’t be having that done after all!

Mangotango39 · 02/02/2024 21:03

@PeeBeee discovered one last week - it doesn't hurt thank god and seems to have mostly gone away now on its own - scared it's the start of a slippery slope though! Specially with sections known for constipation. Have packed laxatives !

Meeting · 02/02/2024 21:19

I'm feeling really poorly tonight and extremely nauseous. The heartburn is also excruciating. I've been generally fine in myself so far so hoping I haven't eaten anything bad or done something to make myself unwell :(

Mummapenguin20 · 02/02/2024 21:22

@CharXo my doctors is a bit like that and refuses anything hospital say! Ummm I was hoping for injection almost immediately in the hope I don’t get a period x

LavenderSweetPea · 02/02/2024 21:34

@Clueless13 you poor thing, I'm so sorry your induction isn't going to plan. How come they decided to induce? You can absolutely request a csec if you want, or another form of induction if the balloon doesn't suit you. There's also the drip or dilapan which might be better for you?

sending you best wishes for a speedy, healthy delivery

DmcinT · 02/02/2024 23:26

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’m 39 as well, they offer induction here from 39 weeks for women over 35 y/o. I’m really not sure what to do but I think I’ll see what cervix is like at that point and make my decision from there 🙈

@Clueless13 i hope ur doing ok, I must have missed ur message earlier & went back to read. U poor thing, that’s a long exhausting few days ❤️ really hoping things start to move along for u soon xxx

im not sure I’ve had BHs before, I’ve had stomach feel hard but no pain, is this BHs?
my stomach is currently rock hard at the min and has been for a good hour or more, just feels uncomfortably tight. Anyone had this for long periods of time?

Hotpolarbear · 03/02/2024 00:18

@Meeting randomly for the first time this pregnancy I've got intense heart burn this evening too.

PeeBeee · 03/02/2024 00:36

Me again! Hubby came to bed just over an hour ago and if woke me up, he then got up to go down to the sofa 10mins later and when i asked him why he said i hasnt stopped scratching since he got into bed.

now an hour later, I still havent stopped. I am itchy absolutely everywhere - particularly arms, legs and bottom of feet. At what point should I be ringing midwives to rule out cholestasis?

novamama · 03/02/2024 01:19

@PeeBeee I would already call the midwives. And whenever else you've got doubts or worries about anything. They have always been so lovely to me, please do call them.

Mangotango39 · 03/02/2024 02:09

@PeeBeee I'd definitely call midwives, they should get you in and check, sounds painful xx

Nttttt · 03/02/2024 02:13

Anyone else just unable to sleep??? So frustrating! 😩

I want to get out of bed but my PGP and back pain isn't allowing that as an option either so I’m just lay here in the dark, DP and cat both fast asleep next to me.
