Had to cancel honeymoon - pregnant

We found out we are expecting a week ago. We were due to go on honeymoon next week to Kenya and we had to cancel. I’m so excited about the news but my partner is just giving out about loosing all of the money. I don’t care about the money I just want a healthy happy baby. I’ve tried to talk to him about it but he keeps saying how cross he is about loosing the money - making me feel like it’s my fault. Any advise?

I hate it but MN loves gotten. And you’ll be told it’s old English, as in “ill gotten gains”. Of course all the people now who say “gotten” read a lot of Chaucer and so on. Nothing to do with American programmes on Netflix, oh no, of course not!

Edited

Gotten is old English so it's acceptable use among English people (and Brits/Irish).

It's also tolerable to see non English/Brits/Irish people spell without the U (they aren't "butchering the language" as is the allegation) as it was common to use both spelling conventions (our/or) until Samuel Johnson standardised spelling via his dictionary when he stated using the U is appropriate as where the origin of the word was unclear it was more likely to have a French origin (thus using the our spelling) than a latin one (or spelling)...same rule applies to the re/er spelling. Having said that a word looks stumpy without the u...Glamour...glamor.

What isn't tolerable is the spelling mOm by any English (British/Irish) poster. Not just the spelling that's the issue, they also don't pronounce it that way.

We are derailing OP' thread here. Enjoy Zanibar OP...maybe visit Freddie Mercury's birthplace in Stone Town (apparently the tourist people there have recognised his status in popular culture by making it more of a landmark).

You did the right thing. I absolutely wouldn't go on a long haul flight when pregnant either. Absolutely no way. Go to GP, tell them you are very sick and they'll give you a certificate not to travel, your insurance should pay out. You have to put your baby first xx

Such great advice! Lie to the GP in an attempt to defraud an insurance company. FFS.
