@Meeting I'm hoping gas and air again. Managed without epidural last time with a back to back baby and on the drip, but did think I had COVID after as my throat hurt lots from screaming/yelling through the ring of fire Blush in fairness she did come out face up! Wouldn't mind some local anaesthetic for crowning this time haha though I'm guessing they would only do it if having an episiotomy... But might ask anyway 😂 want to try water birth this time too.

Sugarplumw · 20/01/2024 20:38

Anyone using clarysage?

Ihatewinding · 20/01/2024 20:44

@glasspaw I went off at 36 weeks with my first and knew wouldn't last that long this time tbh. It's great you have such a supportive manager and WFH defo makes things much easier. And I think the last couple of weeks drag the worst, no matter when they are!
I'm in awe of those working until pretty much due.

anony1111 · 20/01/2024 20:47

@Meeting hoping to have a water birth this time round and only have gas and air but I'm not against any other pain relief. I have done a hypnobirthing course so hopefully that will help me through too.
I had an epidural with my first and I 100% needed it, so if the same happens again I will accept it

Mummapenguin20 · 20/01/2024 20:48

@Hankthehonk ypu didn’t I just wanted to explain. I also Labour very quick. My first 4 hours second 7mins third 2 hours x

Meeting · 20/01/2024 20:53

It seems like most are on the same page with wanting to try with gas and air, but willing to have epidural if you really really have to. I'm hoping to do the same, although I'd like to avoid epidural at all costs!

Mummapenguin20 · 20/01/2024 21:04

@Meeting i can see why ladies have them but I’d also like to be in baby out and home asap haha x

Cheetocat · 20/01/2024 22:17

I'm hoping to just do gas & air too.

I'm almost 99% sure I'm going to tear, just knowing my body, but I'm not comfortable with my partner doing perineal massage and I can't reach very well or get in the right position for it to do it myself, I'm really swollen down there too so it's difficult to even figure out the right area to work on.

LavenderSweetPea · 20/01/2024 22:37

@Cheetocat I haven't got on with perennial massage at all. I can only reach with one hand at a time and to be honest I don't really feel like I'm achieving anything with it. I've just started using an aniball a couple of days ago. Really hoping baby doesn't come in the next week or so to give me more chance to practice and that it'll help me avoid at least the worst tears. I've already seen some improvement with the aniball

AllAboardTootToot · 20/01/2024 23:04

Had a build up of pressure in my spinal cord causing my headaches. Had lumbar tap to relieve the pressure, they did a slow release for 20 or so mins.

Not sure head feels better yet as just have dull head from procedure but they have said will know is 24-48 hours so stick in here.

Going to eye clinic tomor to check on optic nerves too. MOT it feels!

@AllAboardTootToot hope you're feeling better today.

Re: epidural, it's possible to ask for an ambulatory or walking epidural. I had it with my son, I controlled the dose, and although I could still feel 50% of the contractions, it meant I could move around, bounce on the ball, go to the loo, and labour on my knees etc. And not have to have a catheter.

I'm hoping not to be induced on the drip this time so hoping not to need the epidural, but I did like it before

Anyone struggling with a cough?
im having a terrible time!! Not sleeping well because my throat feels restricted and im getting a lot of phlegm so snoring like crazy! Walking both myself and my partner up constantly! He’s getting really fed up with it too.
in the mornings the build up of phlegm is making me dry fetch until I bring up stomach acids 😵‍💫 and then im coughing all day.
have to hold the bump and cross my legs as im always at risk of pee’ing myself! 🫣
my neck is swollen with the coughing too!
I’ve spoken to the doctor but they don’t think it’s an infection so they won’t treat it while I’m this far pregnant so I’m stuck with honey and lemon and lozenges. But nothing is really helping 😵‍💫😵‍💫
if anyone has any other advice I’d be so grateful, it’s really getting to me!! ❤️🙏🏼

CheeseAndCrackersx · 21/01/2024 13:25

I'm exactly the same @Kelb79
I've been unwell for 2 weeks now. Thought I was getting better a few days ago but my nose is back blocked and my throat is so sore.
And my cough is just so chesty the medicine we can have isn't doing much as it's for a dry/tickly cough.

And I've had to start wearing my disposable knickers cos I do pee I cough that hard 🙈

CharXo · 21/01/2024 13:39

Is anyone else in fear that baby is about to make an appearance at any moment?! I had a lovely bath last night and about an hour later I was in bed when all of a sudden I got the most horrendous back pain, to the point it was taking my breath away! I got a hot water bottle and tried not to think about it too much about it. Woke up this morning absolutely fine, got my horses done and went to do the food shop.. noticed I was getting braxton hicks half way round and then the back pain started again! I got home and took some paracetamol but I’m so anxious he’s going to come early ☹️

PeeBeee · 21/01/2024 15:17

@Kelb79 🙋🏽‍♀️

I have had a cough on and off since start of Dec.

it’s brutal! It seemed like it cleared again after the 2nd antibiotic a few weeks ago but now it’s started again. The amount of incontinence pads i’ve gone through is wild!!

msp2023 · 21/01/2024 17:18

Is anyone else feeling really on edge and unable to relax? :(

38+2 today, had an appt and baby's head is engaged. No other symptoms yet but the fact it could happen anytime has made me feel so anxious!

Everything's ready, house is clean, no chores left - it's driving me mad that there's nothing to do to keep me occupied! In turn, making my husband anxious too!

LavenderSweetPea · 21/01/2024 18:32

@msp2023 I'm also finding myself a bit on edge as baby could come any day (currently 37+1) but kind of for opposite reason - I'm still working for another week so I still have that going on and so much stuff I want to sort out at home before baby comes. I really want to do some hypnobirthing stuff, I've got laundry piling up, I'd love to batch cook for the freezer and generally tbh have a chance to relax before baby day! I really hope he stays put until at least 39w

Shrillwaffle · 21/01/2024 18:42

@Kelb79 i believe there are a lot of respiratory bugs going around at the moment, I was ill a few weeks ago for about 2 and a half weeks felt like death started with a sore throat then a cough tested negative for Covid. Doctor told me not to worry about it effecting baby tho and if anything they’ll take in the antibodies your body is producing

also on the baby coming early front I’m convinced she’s coming early too just been having cramps every evening

@Kelb79 so sorry to hear you're struggling. I managed to catch the flu from my husband and I'm coughing lots plus I have my nose completely blocked.

The only thing that helps me sleep better is to sleep upright. I put my pregnancy pillow around the back and lots of other pillows. That way I can breathe better. Hope this helps 🙏🏻

Cheetocat · 21/01/2024 19:32

Went to a birthday gathering with friends today and there was a 3 month old baby there, my partner and I were both in awe at how soon that's gonna be us. People kept touching her which made me nervous, crazy to feel protective over someone else's baby. A few people touched my bump without asking which I found weird but thankfully they're people I know fairly well and wouldn't do it again if I asked. If a stranger did it I'd be shaken, I'd say. I forgot that young babies needed so much rocking and help falling asleep and also that they might vomit out of the blue, the smell teleported me back in time to when my nieces and nephews were babies.

Cheetocat · 21/01/2024 19:34

My GP told me to take zyrtec to help with the congestion at night and she also recommended nasal irrigation with saline solution. Both help a lot, I definitely recommend it for anyone struggling with a lot of mucus and snoring at bedtime! My eczema has been itchy at night too which the zyrtec also helps with.

Ahhh I'm sorry you feel the same!

What about listening to hypnobirthing videos/podcasts etc whilst in the shower, commuting, cooking etc?

Hope your last week of work goes well and that you get your relaxation time!

Sunshineclouds11 · 21/01/2024 21:24

I feel like this baby is literally going to fall out of me atm!

I was induced with my first; those who went into labour naturally did you have idea before hand it was going to happen?
Did your waters break first?

I absolutely can't wait for the relief of my waters going 😅

Shrillwaffle · 21/01/2024 23:16

@Sunshineclouds11 i feel exactly the same! It feels like she’s going to kick my bladder out of my nether regions or she keeps sticking her bum up at the top of my tummy and I feel like she’s going to come out like something out of the movie alien 😅

willing waters to break too!

MyssLyss · 22/01/2024 02:30

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the latest thread, but I’m new here!
Im from Maryland, USA
Anyway! I’m originally due Feb 24th but I am high risk and as of right now I’ve been moved down one week to be induced at 39.
Usually they never let me go past 38 so I was surprised at that.
This one is a little girl, and she will be our SIXTH baby! But she will even us out 3b to 3g.
As of my last appt (last Weds) she is 5lb 11oz. My last baby I went into labor on my own at 36 weeks and I labor FAST so I’m steadily on edge over here haha.
I came on here to actually see if I could find a friend. One to know from birth of both of our babies, onto forever haha!
Maybe something like pen pals or something?
im a 30yr old female and as a momma of multiple kiddos, i dont get to go out and make friends so I figured someone on the same journey may be more inclined to talk about daily mom life etc, than someone whose not.
Either way, im happy to be here and find babies due the same month as mine so i dont feel so alone.
Ttyl ladies!
