Hope you’re ok @AllAboardTootToot !

Sometimes baby's foot gets under my ribcage and it's excruciating, I have to stand up and stretch out to release it. Never expected that to happen! I hope it doesn't make his little foot uncomfortable!

anony1111 · 19/01/2024 19:33

Hope all is well @AllAboardTootToot xx

I was in maternity assessment today with reduced movements and a banging head ache too. Luckily no signs of preeclampsia and baby boy was ok according to the monitor. They are sending me for a scan in the next few days though as according to fundal height measurement my bump has only grown 0.5cm since my 28 week appointment, I'm now 34 weeks. I don't know what to think of that really as I was measuring big anyway for 28 weeks but very worrying if it hasn't grown. I know they can be very inaccurate but can't help but worry can you 😫

Ihatewinding · 19/01/2024 19:38

@anony1111 was it a different midwife who measured you? The times I've been measured by different midwives in each pregnancy they've both measured me completely differently. Hopefully won't be long until your scan to get some reassurance 🤞🏻

AllAboardTootToot · 19/01/2024 19:42

a few of tagged, sorry can’t see on this shitty connection.

Had CT scan, showing some fluid so awaiting a lumbar puncture now as they feels it’s a fluid build up in the spinal cord so seeing if this releases some pressure. Just all down my right side so bizarre. Could still be something simple as hormones causing nerve enlargement etc that’s pinched. All I know it the head pressure is something else in clusters so hoping they can relieve that.

little one is perfectly fine though which is the main thing ❤️

@Ihatewinding yes it was a midwife at the hospital not my usual midwife. I'm trying not to worry as I know they can be off but it's hard not too isn't it?
They did say it's usually quick to be booked in so hopefully will be in the next few days.

I was already anxious regarding babys size as I was measuring way ahead @ 28 weeks, now this.
This is my growth chart

@anony1111 I would take with a pinch of salt if different midwives but did they not do anything about that outlier at 28 weeks like consider a scan or GTT?? Especially considering not your first baby so 6 weeks until next measurement?! Hopefully it's the 34 week measurement that's more accurate but scan will help put into perspective. I measured just under 97th on fundal height then on scan 50-60th, defo not an exact science.

@AllAboardTootToot good luck with the lumbar puncture! Hope it helps with the symptoms and you feel better, glad they've taken your headache seriously.

KayakingBex · 19/01/2024 20:08

@AllAboardTootToot - I hope it helps and you feel better soon. That does sound horrible. Glad your wee one is ok and hoping you will be too.

anony1111 · 19/01/2024 20:12

@Ihatewinding I had a GTT test the week before and all was fine, the midwife didn't seem concerned and just said she might send me for a scan after my next appointment which should of been this week but got rearranged due to absence. So now I will be seeing a different midwife on Monday. Like you say they are defo not exact science. Hopefully all will be more clear next week.

@AllAboardTootToot I'm glad baby is well and I hope everything goes well with the lumbar puncture. Hope you feel better soon xx

This is my growth chart

That looks like a plotting error, the first red point is so off the chart, and against the second would imply there’s been zero growth.

Shrillwaffle · 19/01/2024 20:51

Had my final antenatal appt before being induced Wednesday and she said the cramping I’m getting could be latent labour so anyone else who was experiencing that it could be the same for you!

Hope you are all well those going for extra checks and scans xxxx

Allthatglittersisntart · 19/01/2024 20:59

Any-one else with anterior placentas still struggling with detecting movements ? I had a good few weeks where everything was clear and then last few days (37ws) movements faint again and I have to stop and rest to try to feel her! On a busy day I feel nothing distinctive.
Been to maternity and everything was fine with the heart rate, doctor not worried, although still less obvious movements than usual(on previous visits baby vigorously attacked the monitor the whole time 😂!). I think she’s run out of space to kick and it’s just rolls now..

anony1111 · 19/01/2024 22:21

@redxlondon you would think so wouldn't you but I was measuring 35cm @ 28 weeks according to my midwife, then today 35.5cm @ 34 weeks according to the hospital midwife. My belly has certainly grown in the 6 weeks I can tell from bump photos. Hopefully have a clearer picture after the scan and seeing the midwife on Monday

novamama · 19/01/2024 22:23

@anony1111 to me it looks like your 28 week measurement was waaaay off. It would be a very gross outlier to measure 35cm at 28 weeks. I'm surprised they did not measure again then. 35 cm at 34 weeks is "normal". I would ask the midwives regarding a clarification or scan. Do you have any earlier measurements?

anony1111 · 19/01/2024 22:36

@novamama no I have only been measured the two times plotted on the chart. It's my second baby so I don't see the midwife as often as you do with your first.
I wish I could see my growth chart from my first baby as he was 9lbs14oz at birth so would be good to compare but unfortunately it's not on the system

Mangotango39 · 20/01/2024 00:35

@Allthatglittersisntart anterior placenta here and yes some very quiet days. I had to go in last Saturday as Inbarrly felt a thing by 3pm which was was very unusual and as soon as arrives, baby was going nuts with rolls.
They checked me and did bedside ultrasound as this was my fourth time!!!! And babies hands and feet were all right on placenta so probably why I wasn't getting as much.

I feel a nuisance but they do say please keep coming!

KayakingBex · 20/01/2024 01:22

@Allthatglittersisntart @Mangotango39 yes anterior placenta here too - my wee one definitely has quiet days and busy days - I actually went in on Wednesday because I’d not been feeling him as much (38 weeks). As usual all was fine - and he’s been partying ever since that appointment 😅. glad I went in though I’ve felt much calmer since and I think I helped give my midwife’s student some practice.

Nemo145 · 20/01/2024 09:17

@DmcinT I’ll find out the definite date on Monday when I go for my pre op. The stitch has been wonderful.
@AllAboardTootToot Hope the lumbar puncture has been successful.

Has anyone taken magnesium supplements at all? I believe they can help with sleep? I’m presuming as it’s a natural mineral it’s fine? I just need some sleep before he’s here and I’m hardly getting any

KayakingBex · 20/01/2024 10:38

@Nemo145 - I don’t really know regarding magnesium although I believe it is supposed to help with nausea, heartburn and energy levels.

For me what solved my insomnia was being put on iron tablets as it turned out I was borderline anaemic. Since I’ve been taking them I’ve actually slept more normally and had more energy so I think I definitely needed them. I’m assuming they will have checked you for anaemia already so that probably doesn’t help but mentioning just in case.

AllAboardTootToot · 20/01/2024 11:00

@Nemo145 lying here waiting to go for it. Emergency n labour ward so all prepped waiting. This bits the worst 🙈

@AllAboardTootToot hope it all goes well x

Is anyone else getting really impatient? I had a couple of days where I was sure Labour had started but yesterday and today the contractions feel less intense and the pressure below less piercing. I never thought I would be hoping to feel more pain but I think that would give me some reassurance that things are progressing. I know if still got some time before her due date but ever since the visit to triage said my labour had started I’ve been really hopeful.

Feeling pretty down today ☹️

AllAboardTootToot · 20/01/2024 11:44

How about trying a nice bath to relax @Ebonythoughts ?

Hopefully you find some comfort and not long now xx
