I’m gunna rearange my bags 🙈 x

msp2023 · 17/01/2024 12:19

I've packed one small wheelie suitcase (size that's used as cabin luggage) for baby. Then, I have a medium-large hold-all for my stuff (towel, pads etc take up quite a lot of space!)

I'm not going to worry about it - I know I've packed what I need so if there isn't space at the hosp for storage, I'll deal with it then!

Havanalily1806 · 17/01/2024 12:28

I've got a cabin suitcase for myself and a weekend holdall for babies stuff.

Both are completely full and there's nothing I could take out.

Then have a smaller bag for OH which is also storing my leaving hospital clothes and all the electrics 😅

I'm with you @msp2023 I'm not worrying, ive packed what I need and really can't see a hospital challenging it when you arrive in labour, they'd do well to try 😂... other things to worry about.

I've been in the delivery rooms a few times as I always end up out of hours when I'm in for reduced movements and there's ample room. Ward might be different but I'm expecting it to be similar to other wards at the hospital which would also have more than enough space for my bags, and by that point if we are kept in some stuff can go home with OH.

Sunshineclouds11 · 17/01/2024 12:29

Were allowed two bags at my hosp. Car seat can't come in until we are ready for home which is fine.

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX I've been thinking of you! Haven't seen you post for awhile pleased all is well.

@Kelb79 My urine trigged for an infection so she's sent it off. Said the swollenness could be down to blood flow, infection, etc. feeling better today though!

Had my MW this morning and I've dropped on growth chart, waiting for hosp to ring.
Not really had any experience of this before, any idea as to why this would be at this stage?

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/01/2024 12:36

Hopefully it's just I was in London so space more tight. But yeah the postnatal ward was tiny! As was the induction ward. And one small shared loo for all of us 🤮 they did try to stop the men using it though.

Is anyone else feeling a resurgence of nausea? Last few days I've been feeling quite sicky again

DmcinT · 17/01/2024 12:41

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes on the sickness, I was just in for 36 week appt and puked in middle of the scan so they didn’t take measurements/estimate weight etc.. I’m raging at myself.
im also being kept for monitoring and bloods due to my itching, they suspect cholestasis now but 🤞🏽 bloods come back clear or I have to be admitted and go on drugs to help bring levels down😫

amyg1985 · 17/01/2024 12:50

Keeping fingers crossed for you @DmcinT and sorry to hear about sickness

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 17/01/2024 13:04

@DmcinT I'm so sorry that's horrible. Fingers crossed your tests come back okay

CharXo · 17/01/2024 13:35

Is anyone else’s bump feeling sensitive to touch? Last night& today my tummy feels so sensitive and I have no idea why

LavenderSweetPea · 17/01/2024 13:39

I think the hospital must think we have magic Mary Poppins bags or something... I have been told there is loads of space for bags in the delivery room, but only one small bag (smaller than cabin bag) for the ward as there is no space. But I've only packed what is in the NHS list - and i've missed off some of the larger items like a dressing gown - and there's no way I'll fit a towel, 2 packs of maternity pads, 3 outfits for me, 3 outfits for baby, nappies, a washbag, nightwear, breastpads, snacks, chargers etc in a tiny little bag.

I've got all of babies things in our changing backpack (with extra nappies to be kept in the car) and I've tried to split my stuff into two smaller bags so hopefully DH can take away one of them with stuff that was only needed for delivery and leave me just with one of the bags for the ward but it seems impossible to pack light.

In my hopsital it's wards of up to 6, but they keep you in for a minimum of 1 night so 24-36 hours depending on the time of day/night you happen to give birth

Shrillwaffle · 17/01/2024 16:23

On topic of hospital bags I’ve whittled mine down now to one bag 😅😅

Cheetocat · 17/01/2024 16:49

I got a list from the hospital and I've already filled an overhead cabin bag but can't fit a few things. No room for my going home clothes or snacks or anything.

They also get us to have a small carrier bag just for delivery room which is convenient, you make a parcel for baby by having a vest, socks, babygrow, hat, cardigan, a nappy and blanket wrapped in a large muslin, then for mam you just put in a nightie, full briefs/disposable underwear and flip flops. Your birth plan goes in that bag too.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 17/01/2024 17:20

So I'm now being treated for the start of pre eclampsia 🙈 only symptom is my blood pressure but it only came back to under 140 after I had some medication. So on medication and plenty of monitoring and gotta see my consultant again to decide what happens next. I have a feeling c section will be planned x

Cheetocat · 17/01/2024 17:41

@CheeseAndCrackersx Oh my goodness, glad you're bring taken care of, best of luck! x

amyg1985 · 17/01/2024 17:50

Hope the medication helps @CheeseAndCrackersx and keeping fingers crossed for you. I think we're due date twins so know baby will be fine now, whenever he needs to come out! X

Cheetocat · 17/01/2024 18:14

My obstetrician said they prefer babies to come after 37 weeks but if you go into labour after 35w they'd never stop it because there could be a reason baby needs to be out and they could cause harm by forcing them to stay in. I never thought about that before!

msp2023 · 17/01/2024 18:21

Shrillwaffle · 17/01/2024 00:48

@Mangotango39 sounds like a lovely healthy baby :) they given you a date for induction?
@Cheetocat I’ve had a birthing ball inflated for ages well over a year and the blimming cat popped it the other day 😅😅

I’ve had stomach aches all day today from about 6.30am starting to get pretty crampy now 😖 along with more pressure and pain in my pubic bone area when do you know the difference between braxton hicks or contractions?

I've started getting lower belly/back cramps
in the last few hours or so. I have no idea if this is BH or the start of early contractions. Who knows!! Every twinge is making me think it's about to kick off soon though 🫣

Ihatewinding · 17/01/2024 18:22

I've got a cabin bag for my stuff and using a changing bag for baby stuff and snacks.

I've come off the codeine I've been taking for the SPD/PGP in hopes I might be able to avoid the 24h postnatal stay to make sure no withdrawal in baby as been taking for 3 months🤞🏻but having really bad and frequent Braxton Hicks so not sure gonna make it long enough before baby comes at this rate! And gone back to waking pretty much every 40 minutes to turn over due to pain so wonder if just exhausting myself for no reason 😴

I'm in awe of people who manage to fit everything in one bag though! I'm really hoping can just be discharged after birth from the midwife led birth centre and not need much beyond the snacks and leaving clothes.

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 17/01/2024 18:50

@Shrillwaffle @Sunshineclouds11 thanks for your responses ladies does mean alot to me as over last few weeks been feeling pretty overwhelmed by everything as just feels like I have a ton of stuff to do before she arrives and given my history she could be here by end of next week 😬 so feeling underpressure with that, then also have 4 busy boys to look after at the same time.. Actually starting to doubt and think how am I going to manage if that makes sense? I don't know sometimes I just feel like crying if I'm honest with everything.. but enough about me now, how are you ladies & how are your pregnancies going? How are you finding things as time gets closer? 💕 hope your babies are doing ok too 🥰

Mangotango39 · 17/01/2024 19:01

I have managed to fit all in one cabin size case - plus a snack bag (GD can't wait to eat the biscuits lol!!!)
just need to add some extra pjs and going home outfit for me which I am still wearing obviously .

lucky our hospital got a revamp last years and it's all own rooms now , they made the old private area the public .

Is anyone else like getting abit panicy in terms of 'my hair should always be washed now'
'should I clean the house daily so it's as fresh as can be if I suddenly drop?'

I'm even scared to do a big shop incase it goes to waste haha!

Ihatewinding · 17/01/2024 19:52

@Mangotango39 totally understandable to have an elaborative snack bag after GD! And get you on the tidy house thoughts, every time I spot clutter I think should probably sort that before don't have time or inclination for it haha.
Jealous about the private rooms too, think ours are bays of 6 if do end up with a postnatal stay. I have packed ear plugs Grin

msp2023 · 17/01/2024 20:22

@Mangotango39 I'm obsessed with keeping every part of the house as tidy and clean as possible!

Keep needing to remind myself that if contractions do start, there will still be time to wash hair, get minor tasks done!

Shrillwaffle · 17/01/2024 20:29

@CheeseAndCrackersx hope you’re okay and being looked after! Xx
@msp2023 same here! People say well you’ll know but why do I have random stomach pain 😩 and if it’s the body getting ready when will it be ready?!? Now? Are my waters gonna break if I go Tesco? 😅
@MummyTo4BoysXXXX dont stress yourself out you’ve got this you’ve done it multiple times brilliantly and you have loads of support around you. You for this mumma 💪🏻

CheeseAndCrackersx · 17/01/2024 20:41

Thank you ladies.
I've been resting since I got home.

When I've been doing some googling it says severe heartburn which doesn't go with antacids is a symptom too but the hospital didn't ask anything in regards to that, so I don't whether to mention it to my midwife when I see her on Friday cos mine just won't shift the past few days & it's making me feel really sick. So what if that has been a sign.

Sunshineclouds11 · 17/01/2024 20:43

@MummyTo4BoysXXXX it's very overwhelming isn't it!
I've told myself long as our hosp bags are done we're ok!
You've got this!👌🏽🙌🏼
