How strange! Maybe baby was on a nerve? Have you felt them shift?

@Sugarplumw - I've never had anyone make me feel bad for calling, particularly now we're so close.

I see my consultant yesterday at 33 weeks and she did my birth plan and booked my c-section there and then. Why are all the trusts so diffrent x

May I ask what week your section is booked for, and was there a reason you were seen early, a high risk factor? Now worrying why mine is so late at 36 weeks but I thought this was standard.

Sugarplumw · 12/01/2024 16:50

@amyg1985 I think she's been moving around pretty much as normal! I went in less than a week ago for fluid leaking and there was a really snippy midwife. She was asking about whether the baby had moved as usual and I said not as much as normal as she normally moves around loads. She just responded snappily with "so are you happy with movements or not??"
I actually felt temporarily excited thinking it could be labour as I cannot wait now

Mummapenguin20 · 12/01/2024 16:51

@redxlondon im seen weekly for gd and previous preterm babies I’m book at 39+6 but sweeps to start at 37 to see if I can encourage natural x

Hey everyone, my last update was about the consultant wanting to deliver the girls at 32 weeks. However, with a second opinion, we managed to get to 34+4 and our perfect girls were born on 2nd Jan 2024 weighing 4lb 2oz & 4lb 1oz☺️ They are receiving some extra help but are otherwise perfect 💕

Our first babies are here!!! 🥲💖💖congratulations @FTMCHD , I hope you’re all doing really well ❤️

Give triage a ring.
Start of labour is like period pain.

Could be all or nothing

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/01/2024 19:25

@msp2023 & @Cheetocat me too with the more loose movements since yesterday. I was starting to wonder lastnight is it a sign

CheeseAndCrackersx · 12/01/2024 19:27

@Sugarplumw defo call up your maternity unit, it may be nothing but they can still get you in and put you on the machine to see if anything is happening. And they can swab you to see if your waters are showing signs of breaking soon x

PLEASE call antenatal ward, the number should be on the front of your notes. Hope you’re okay but any symptoms like this your first point of call needs to be medical professional.

babythreeincoming · 12/01/2024 20:06

How are you @Sugarplumw?

Shrillwaffle · 12/01/2024 20:44

Those saying about a birth plan and are UK based, there’s an template on the NHS website you can use then hand this in when you go into labour I believe https://www.nhs.uk/start-for-life/pregnancy/preparing-for-labour-and-birth/what-to-include-in-your-birth-plan/#birth-plan-template

@DmcinT im okay thankyou I just think I’m starting to get very overwhelmed any twinge or pain I’m like is everything okay 😓 I just need her here now safe I’m doing my own head in 🤯🤯

@Sugarplumw hope you’re okay ❤️❤️❤️

Sugarplumw · 12/01/2024 21:36

Thanks for the responses. The cramps were like my usual braxton hicks but they only came that often in an hour and then died off so I'm assuming it was nothing

Mangotango39 · 12/01/2024 22:44

@Sugarplumw I woke up last night too with the worse nerve pain in lower back - not had it before.
Pretty much gone now with lingering twinge here and there :/ odd!!

Sugarplumw · 12/01/2024 22:55

@Mangotango39 yes it's the same for me now. So weird as no idea what it could be since there's so many things

KayakingBex · 13/01/2024 04:36

@Havanalily1806 I kind of got rushed through my birth plan at about 90 miles an hour over the phone. It was pretty much - where do you want to give birth (home or hospital), do you want a c-section or try for normal delivery, do you want midwives present, is pain relief ok, would you like to use the birthing pool if available, who wants to cut the cord.

Mine is pretty much:
Give birth in hospital, try for normal delivery, hell yes to midwives being there (I didn’t even think that was in question 😅). Pain relief - yes if needed although I’m super not keen on the idea of an epidural but I’ve read enough to suspect I will rapidly become in favour of it (she’s put it down as midwives will advise me as needed re pain relief). Water birth if possible- I’m a total water baby anyway and it’s my go to pain relief method. Cord cutting we will see at the time I hadn’t actually thought about this question just assumed doctors or midwives would do that part.

PurpleSock · 13/01/2024 10:00

Has anyone used a Snuza breathing monitor before? We've been looking at these and trying to decide between the Hero & the Pico

Meeting · 13/01/2024 10:46

I've just downloaded the NHS birth plan template and to be honest I'm feeling really let down as my midwife hasn't discussed the majority of what's on there with me. I'm 36+2 so and my next appointment is at 38 weeks (had one 2 days ago) so I really feel I should have a plan by then.

All she's really asked me is if I plan to BF or FF and which hospital I'd like to go to. Going to have to do some research and try and make the decisions myself but honestly she never gives me any information unless I directly ask for it. Maybe it's my own fault and I should ask more questions.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 13/01/2024 11:26

I see my midwife next week at 36 weeks so unsure as yet what will be discussed with me in regards to birth plans, but I honestly think they need to be done sooner cos look how many of us have had are we in labour worries, like when I had mine last week I was 34 weeks.

I hope something is discussed cos there's a few things I actually don't want, such as forceps & if I go overdue I actually want a c section not to be induced.

I'm unsure when it comes to pain relief I think I'll just try gas & air and see how I go.

Cheetocat · 13/01/2024 11:27

Our washing machine broke down a few weeks ago and we finally got a new one, I just did a wash of some newborn and 1m clothes in it and oh my goodness, it smells like babies, I don't know how to describe it, I couldn't stop sniffing the basket of clothes. 😂

Cheetocat · 13/01/2024 11:30

I'm under the care of my gp & her nurse as well as an obstetrician at the hospital because of my BMI and every one of them has told me that I should have a birth plan but never gave me any info about it. Thankfully we went through them in the antenatal class I'm attending but if I didn't have that I would have been going in blind!

Havanalily1806 · 13/01/2024 11:46

@CheeseAndCrackersx

I'm with you there with not wanting forceps or to be induced if I go over!

I did ask that question at my appointment this week and was told I couldn't opt for a section in that situation as I'm so low risk, which I know is rubbish. But she did then say, I can refuse an induction and then the only option would be a section. Didn't have a lot more to say about it tho, just that we'd talk about it if I got to 41 weeks.

@Meeting
Sounds like you've had a very similar experience to me. I downloaded the nhs one last night too and hardly anything at all has been discussed with me that's on there. We plan to sit down tonight and talk it through together and get something down.

@KayakingBex yours sounds very similar to what I'd like. Water birth I'm not holding my breathe as there is only one pool in my hospital - had to find that out myself too..

One thing I'm unsure of is students, I absolutely haven't minded students being with me when I've been in for movements etc or for a midwife appointment but unsure how I'd feel having extra people in the room when I'm in labour as I'm quite a private person. Also if I needed any help/intervention etc I'd want it done as quickly as possible and not talked through etc with someone who is learning... I might have answered my own question there and say no to students, I think if it wasn't my first time I'd be fine with it, but I also understand they have to learn and it makes me feel bad.
Oh and my fiancé definitely wants to cut the cord, but he's very inquisitive so that doesn't surprise me haha

Meeting · 13/01/2024 12:03

@Havanalily1806 rubbish isn't it! I'm refusing students for pretty much the same reasons as you, I've had them at most of my MW appointments which is fine but I'd like to have as few people around as possible for birth.

@CheeseAndCrackersx If I were you I'd take the NHS template with you to the appt to discuss it, I wish I had as she didn't mention anything! She literally just asked if I'd done a birth plan yet.

LavenderSweetPea · 13/01/2024 12:15

Anyone who's trust uses Badger notes, you can fill in your birth plan (it's basically the same as that pdf template) under the 'conversations' tab. Then it'll be available to the hospital whenever you go in.

My midwife said to fill it in as best I can and then we'll go through it properly at the 36w appointment.

Any first timers like me, the first time I looked at it I was honestly like haven't got a clue! But I've found NCT classes really helpful in getting clued up on what options there are and what might be right for me. I'd highly recommend either NCT or if it's too late to start in person classes the NHS have online classes you can take which might he helpful.
