Went for just a 30 min walk today and came back home with so much pain down below, lower back pain and more distinct and regular Braxton hicks every 6-8 mins and getting really worried. Did I overdo it with the walk or is this early Labour?

Call your antenatal ward to chat through with them if you’re not sure xxx

Shrillwaffle · 11/01/2024 22:42

@LavenderSweetPea thank you so much for this 🙏🏻 appreciate the advice I’m going to keep an eye on it 👀 I haven’t experienced braxton hicks yet could be that

Clueless13 · 12/01/2024 04:23

Is anyone experiencing severe snoring?? I’ve had it for about a month now and it’s so bad that it often wakes me up at night, my husband says it’s very loud too. Not sure if it’s normal, or if anything underlying?? 😓

Haha yes! I've been snoring and sleeping with my mouth gaping open for many many months now. Nasal congestion is very normal in pregnancy caused by hormonal changes - delightful!

Clueless13 · 12/01/2024 10:10

@msp2023 😅my mouth was wide open all night and I kept waking myself up with the snoring, my poor husband and our cat are both sleeping in the spare room! I really hope it goes away after birth because I can’t take much more of it 😂the things out body goes through!

DmcinT · 12/01/2024 10:31

I’ve woken myself up a few times from the snoring also🙈🙉 I started wearing earplugs to stop it happening😅

@Shrillwaffle hope ur feeling ok? Nobody has gone through what Labour will feel like with me either, I’ve googled it loads but people just keep saying ‘oh you’ll know when your in Labour’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

CharXo · 12/01/2024 11:20

I’ve just been text my c section date! Finally! 8th Feb. Although I’m guessing if my GD test comes back positive it may be earlier

Havanalily1806 · 12/01/2024 12:01

I had my 36 week appointment this week and midwife has not gone over anything about the signs of labour or anything at all relating to any type of birth plan.

At this appointment they scheduled in my 38 week appointment and said or I may see you earlier (implying that I could have given birth before that) but absolutely nothing about labour.

They asked if I know who to ring if I go into labour but nothing at all about how I would know.

I didn't realise at first, until last night and then thought if I hadn't educated myself and done some online courses and books I've read I'd be absolutely clueless as a FTM. Really isn't great at all.

Cheetocat · 12/01/2024 12:08

@Havanalily1806 I'm so sorry you've been left in the dark, there is a lot of information out there but it's very hard to know what to trust and who to listen to. Everyone's body reacts differently too. Hopefully it's just one of those things where your instincts kick in and you know you're in labour and your body knows what to do.

Cheetocat · 12/01/2024 12:10

@CharXo That's so exciting, it's really soon! Good luck on your results too x

Havanalily1806 · 12/01/2024 12:14

@Cheetocat
Hi, yeah to be honest it wasn't something I was worrying about, I feel quite prepared myself with what I've read/researched etc. it's probably why I hadn't really noticed the midwife has not told me a single thing. Just thinking about it it's soo bizarre that as a FTM they can give you so little advice over something so huge.

I feel quite relaxed about it, no pressure for anything to happen a certain way and go with the flow, they have to come out don't they 😅 whichever way that may be.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/01/2024 12:39

@Havanalily1806 I think it's because they advise you to take antenatal classes, so they expect you to have the info from those. But yeah I didn't realise that for a 2nd time or more mum, you actually have to go in before the 3 contractions in ten mins as labour is expected to be quicker!

Also no one has done a birth plan with me - last time it was all done on badger notes and reviews by my midwife. I don't know whether just to make one myself and take it in when I go into labour? What's everyone else doing?

@DmcinT that's so funny you're wearing earplugs to protect from yourself 😅

KayakingBex · 12/01/2024 12:52

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 mine didn’t tell me about antenatal classes at all apart from some vague mention about them happening 3rd trimester. I didn’t realise or misunderstood that I was supposed to ask until mid December by which point it was too late. Found an online module and did that instead.

They have run me through some basic stuff about hand expressing and labour signs at least. Plus where to go.

I called up to ask for some advice recently and she suddenly went oh yes we need to discuss a birth plan can I call you back at 11. Not sure if I’d got forgotten about there but I know they are short staffed.

DmcinT · 12/01/2024 13:06

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I’ve completed all antenatal classes and they did go through when contractions are 1-4-1 (1 min long, 4 min intervals for 1 hr) we’ve to start our journey to the hospital but actually never went through what it will feel like.

like others I’ve researched it loads myself but it is mad to think no1 goes through that with u. I think everyone just assumes u know what contractions are 😅 but maybe when they start it’ll be obvious, I don’t know.

I’ve had lots of pains down there yesterday & today but think it’s just pressure (esp with the stitch).

@CharXo that’s so exciting to have ur date, how are u feeling about it?

anyone else waaay over ordering stuff🙈 packages arriving everyday and I’ve no clue at this stage what’s in them😅😂

Havanalily1806 · 12/01/2024 13:20

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 they also haven't mentioned any antenatal classes to us either.

My health visitor did their visit just before Christmas and turns out there's an app which has classes near by and things to book onto and loads of information and she was shocked we'd not been told about that as well.

I'd be keen to know what everyone else is doing re a birth plan as well :)

Mummapenguin20 · 12/01/2024 13:24

I see my consultant yesterday at 33 weeks and she did my birth plan and booked my c-section there and then. Why are all the trusts so diffrent x

msp2023 · 12/01/2024 13:41

I'm 37 weeks today yay! Full term :)
Had a (delayed) 36 week appt today and baby is head down (not engaged) and all seems good. Approx 6lbs at the moment if the graph is accurate!

We discussed birth plan today too though I'm going in with a relatively relaxed 'plan' of let's see how it goes 😂

I'm not against any form of pain relief, this is first baby so I have no idea or expectations. I'd like to try the water for pain relief to begin with and then happy to progress to epidural if needs be. Not sure if I actually want to give birth in the water though but I'd imagine I probably won't care in the moment.

I hate not knowing when baby will come now and the fact that it could be any day! Every little twinge in my stomach makes me think it's happening haha. I think I've had a few Braxton Hicks now - all when I'm laying in bed so not even sure if they are BH or just cramps from laying down. Who knows!

CharXo · 12/01/2024 13:55

@Cheetocat thank you!

@DmcinT Im feeling excited now I finally have it.. feel like I can finally get some plans in place for childcare/school runs/dog/horses etc!
Also the conservatory has become the storage room which is currently filled with boxes of stuff I’ve ordered & haven’t yet sorted through 😂

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 12/01/2024 14:14

Oh wow that's so bad they didn't mention classes, because they get booked up so early.

I'm at a loss with the north plan to be honest- I think it's crazy that so many of us haven't had one. It's meant to be what they refer to when you're in labour.

I've no idea what normal contractions will feel like either, and it's scary thinking it could happen literally anywhere - at work, the shop, the street whatever and then you have to get home and to a hospital in pain.

msp2023 · 12/01/2024 15:11

A question to those who aren't constipated - is anyone suffering from more frequent bowel movements than normal??
Normal consistency, just having to go much more than usual! Wondering if it's everything being squished up and body preparing for labour!

Cheetocat · 12/01/2024 15:14

@msp2023 Me! Literally been going so often since yesterday morning but it's normal in every way, just more often. I was wondering if the position of baby could be stimulating my digestive system or something. So funny it's happening to us at the same time

Thought I was going crazy or needed to adjust my diet!
Though I suppose this is better than the severe constipation some other ladies are suffering with :(

I have heard stories about women having loose motions before they go into labour so maybe need to keep an eye on this!

Sugarplumw · 12/01/2024 15:48

I suddenly got very painful lower left back pain in the middle of the night and it hasn't gone away since. Does anyone know what this could be? It's so painful

amyg1985 · 12/01/2024 16:02

@Sugarplumw it's probably muscular but I'd call triage to get their opinion, particularly if you have a posterior placenta.

Sugarplumw · 12/01/2024 16:33

@amyg1985 I have an anterior placenta. Nearly all the pain has suddenly just gone away for some reason, it's really odd how it was there for hours without break and now nothing?
