Oh ladies I’ve just had my growth scan and he’s about 6lb 14oz .. I’m 35 weeks today!

LavenderSweetPea · 10/01/2024 17:25

Thanks for raising this @Ebonythoughts - it's not something I'd actively considered but fortunately non of my snacks contain nuts, phew. But good to be aware, also I suppose it's also possible your midwife/doctor could have a nut allergy too.

Ebonythoughts · 10/01/2024 17:38

@LavenderSweetPea thats true.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I didn’t think about GD and diets not being catered to at the hospital. Really interesting that you’ve actively been told to bring it in. Maybe you’ll have your own room?

Thewildthingsarewithme · 10/01/2024 18:42

If you have low papp-A and are having growth scans how have they been? I’m 34 weeks on Friday and have dropped from 80th to 50th to 25th over the last three scans but they seem unconcerned. Feeling very anxious! Baby EW today was 4lb 10

Cheetocat · 10/01/2024 20:32

I've a scan tomorrow to check if baby's kidney dilation has resolved, I'm so nervous, I hate to think he might have discomfort or eventually need surgery. 😢

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/01/2024 21:43

@Ebonythoughts no it was my last pregnancy and I was on an induction ward for 3 days, then a general postnatal ward also

anony1111 · 10/01/2024 21:55

@CharXo how are you feeling after the growth scan? Did they seem concerned?

CharXo · 10/01/2024 22:05

@anony1111 a bit stressed to be honest. They’ve asked me to go in Sunday morning to do GD test.

Hankthehonk · 10/01/2024 22:57

@Thewildthingsarewithme It's good if they are not concerned, even though centile is dropping sounds like baby is still an OK weight/size? When is your next scan? Sorry you're feeling anxious. Are you in the low papp a Facebook group? I've found the stories there helpful.
I also have low papp a, baby was measuring 50th centile at 28w and 80th centile at 32w. We've got 36w scan at the end of the month, I'm mostly worried as he's breech right now and if he hasn't turned by that scan might be looking at a section.

Mangotango39 · 10/01/2024 23:02

@Cheetocat hope all ok - we had similar and it had all resolved itself at the last scan. They told me surgery was an option but first they'd monitor wees more closely (if it hadn't resolved) but said it can be quite common xx

anony1111 · 11/01/2024 00:28

@CharXo I'm sure everything will be ok, try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said than done.
At least they are checking for GD fairly quickly and they will keep an eye on growth now too.
I have my 34 week midwife app next week and kind of hoping they send me for a growth scan too, I'm massive! My first was 9lbs14 so feeling anxious about this baby's weight and birth

I think as baby is still above the 10th centile they class that as “normal” growth, the numbers are input into a growth calculator to see if the size is normal for gestation. My little one has been tracking around the 20th centile so still on the smaller side but has been holding the growth line and the calculator shows no problems either.

I can totally understand your anxiety ❤️ the good news is that you’re being closely monitored and if there’s any further drop in growth then they’ll know in a few weeks. When’s your next consultant appointment?

Cheetocat · 11/01/2024 08:38

@Mangotango39 Thank you, glad your situation turned out okay, it gives me hope!

Thewildthingsarewithme · 11/01/2024 10:18

@Hankthehonk @Goblet93 thanks so much your replies, it’s reassuring to know you’re not the only one. I think it’s more unnerving because they’ve been dipping down the centiles at each appointment. The estimated weight of 4lb10 for 34 weeks seems ok so maybe that’s why they are unconcerned. They’ve brought my next scan forward so I’ll be seen in two weeks but they said make sure you come in if movements reduce so that’s made me feel really frightened. It’s been such an easy stress free pregnancy as well and really thought the Papp A wasn’t having an effect as they were 80% centile at 28 weeks to now be on the 25th

undercoverhero74 · 11/01/2024 10:47

@Thewildthingsarewithme hello, I also have low Papp A and baby is currently measuring on the 9th percentile. I have my next scan on Tuesday to track her weight and I'm really nervous. I asked my midwife to explain it a bit better and she said because of my height they would expect baby to be slightly bigger but otherwise she is perfect.
I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry. I was getting myself in a right tizz about it all but apart from being "petite" she is perfectly healthy. Midwife also assured me that if baby was born now she would be absolutely fine 😊

On another note, has anyone else had a transverse baby at 33 weeks? Little madam has moved round and seems quite comfortable but I'm unsure what the issues will be if she stays in that position

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 11/01/2024 10:58

@Thewildthingsarewithme it's so scary when they tell you to be careful of movements isn't it? I often can't tell, particularly as the pregnancy progresses. Feels more like squirms rather than hard kicks now.

They'll be monitoring your Doppler measurement on the scan to check placenta is well. They'll induce you if they have any concerns, although I know it's hard not to worry.

Im in for my 36 week scan tomorrow, for Doppler and size review

Thewildthingsarewithme · 11/01/2024 11:01

@undercoverhero74 that’s interesting, I’m quite tall too and did wonder if that was having an impact as weight doesn’t seem that low. I need to adjust my mindset a bit I think, at least we are being regularly checked and like you say babies will be a good size now!

Thewildthingsarewithme · 11/01/2024 11:03

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 it’s horrible isn’t it, feels like such a responsibility! I feel the same, movements have really changed in the last week or so but I’m guessing they have much less space to get those super hard kicks in, the squirming does fee strange though! How are you measuring so far?

undercoverhero74 · 11/01/2024 11:15

@Thewildthingsarewithme I'm 5ft 10 and baby was measuring 4lb at 32 weeks which compared to others on this thread is perfectly normal. The growth charts are personalised so everyone is different but as long as baby is still putting weight on at each scan l can only assume that it is a positive sign.
I just want the next scan out of the way so I can know for sure she is growing as she should.
I had reduced movements too and was checked over on Monday. All was well but the growth scans have made me a lot more anxious than I have been. My lack of movement was due to the sudden change of baby's position. If you are ever worried go straight in, they are really kind and reassuring

amyg1985 · 11/01/2024 11:23

My baby had an unstable lie at 34 weeks when I had my growth scan last week @undercoverhero74 - during my scan they started off breech and then shoved both head and feet down in my pelvis. They're bringing me in for more scans (next one at 37 weeks) but there's still time for baby to get into position apparently and seem unconcerned at present.

I can feel baby still shifting but completely agree that how often I feel them depends on how they've decided to position themselves at that moment.

Cheetocat · 11/01/2024 11:46

Dilation hasn't resolved but it's not much worse either, one of his ureters is also slightly dilated, we'll h another scan again soon. They'll put him on an antibiotic when he's born to prevent infection so they have time to do tests and scans on him. Other than that he's doing great, I'm 34w5d and he's weighing 6lb2oz! 😍😍

redxlondon · 11/01/2024 11:48

Hospital “bag”? Are you all managing with just one bag, and how big is it? I feel like I’ve got SO much stuff, I’m not sure what’s best to take. One carry on suitcase or 2-3 smaller bags.

Havanalily1806 · 11/01/2024 11:55

@redxlondon I felt the same when packing it, I used a checklist supplied by John Lewis and another from an online baby care course we attended, and it is a lot of stuff, but I'd rather have too much than too little!

I've ended up using a small cabin size suitcase for my stuff (pjs, pads and comfy clothes seem to be taking up the most room) and then a weekend bag for the babies stuff- which has got everything in there, and just about fastens up.

I've then used another weekend bag for my OH and dumped all the electronics, extra baby milk and my outfit to leave the hospital in there (it's a nice big oversized sweatshirt dress but far too big to go in my case but super comfy 😅)

I then have a "extras bag" in case we are in longer than a couple of days which has more baby milk, and spare nightwear/clothes for me so far- will add extra pads etc to this too.

But there is so much stuff, and it's so hard when you could be in for a day or in for a while, I just know I'd feel more comfortable knowing I've got everything, and if needed OH can bring the spare bag without me needing to direct him to find everything because he absolutely would not get everything right 😅

Ebonythoughts · 11/01/2024 12:04

36+1 today and just got back from another growth scan. Baby is measuring a bit smaller now (was larger last time) so I’m booked in again in two weeks time but midwife and consultant didn’t seem too concerned. Has anyone had this? I had a growth scan 6 weeks ago and they said baby was big and now they are saying small.

Grateful we moved back to head down position this morning just before the scan though, after 2 weeks of being breach.

Phew!! That makes me feel better. I’m having a section so it will be at least one night in the hospital. That’s a good idea to have separate bag for the potential extra nights.
