Anyone else in the “Can’t get anything done of a day” Club?

She won’t be put down!! I really need to learn to use my baby wrap/carrier asap!

SMG1992 · 05/01/2024 18:52

@VillageFete a wrap is literally a game changer. Mine will go in it happily and then fall asleep in there so I can put him down after a while.
I can still get stuff done whilst he’s in there though. I got one from Vinted for a few quid.

VillageFete · 05/01/2024 19:06

@SMG1992 What one did you get? Mine’s a Close Caboo lite. Need to watch a Youtube vid and get her in it!

I had a list of jobs today and have managed to tick one off 🤣

SMG1992 · 05/01/2024 19:12

@VillageFete i got a joy and Joe wrap one. I did have to watch a video too but I’m used to it now

Flowers90 · 05/01/2024 20:21

@VillageFete
I've got a close caboo from a friend, I've managed to use it this evening having watched a few videos. WI'll also pop to our local sling library in the week to check I'm doing it right. Achieved absolutely nothing today as baby screamed every time I put him down.

VillageFete · 05/01/2024 20:58

@Flowers90 Oh it’s frustrating isn’t it. We just have to remember it’s only a couple of more months of the 4th trimester.

I’m going to have to Youtube videos and learn what to do. I can’t carry on like this!

Hi everyone - baby entered the world through C-section at 18:54 this evening.

Labour started at 5am, was 7cm dilated on arrival to the MLU ward at 7:30 ish, sadly didn't get my water birth as got transferred to consultant lead when my waters broke not long after and baby had pooed. I'll share my birth story later but it was all good and I'm happy with my final decision and their birth.

We're both doing well, we need checking and I'm likely to be in here for 3 days. But I'm all good. they're feeding and toileting well.

@Avie29 how are you doing sweetie?

Avie29 · 06/01/2024 05:43

@Nclktnntt baby arrived 11:29pm yesterday, she’s absolutely beautiful and worth the extra wait, we are still in hospital being monitored incase on infection, tired, been 24 hours since i last slept, can’t wait to get home and introduce her to her big brothers and sisters 😊 xxxx

VillageFete · 06/01/2024 06:20

@Nclktnntt Massive congratulations! Hope you’re managing some rest.

@Avie29 Massive congratulations to you too! I hope you manage some sleep soon.

GL1987 · 06/01/2024 06:27

@Nclktnntt @Avie29 congratulations to you both. Rest up and enjoy the first few days

SMG1992 · 06/01/2024 06:59

Congrats @Nclktnntt & @Avie29
i hope you both get some rest in hospital and are home soon

Nclktnntt · 06/01/2024 08:41

Thank you all, our first night went well. Hes a very calm baby (for night 1 anyway)

@Avie29 huge congratulations!! We're being kept in for at least 3 days as they suspect baby has an infection and have put him on antibiotics as a precaution whilst waiting on his bloods to return, they're watching his breathing too and will do an xray shortly as he's not breathing 100% and they want to check no merconium is in his lungs.

He's doing amazing though with all the monitoring and messing with him and he's taking it all in his stride.

I hope your home soon, have they said how long you might be kept in?

Baby definitely has colic. She’s 4 weeks and 3 days and cries almost constantly unless she’s feeding/in a milk coma. She’s very, very fussy. It’s getting a bit much, very difficult to get things done, can’t even sit down to eat! I stand and snack all day.

We’ve started probiotics - hoping they’ll help in a week or so.

I’m taking her for a tongue tie assessment just incase she’s in discomfort due to that, next appointment isn’t until February though.

She’s had a couple of sessions of Cranial Osteopathy and has 3 more booked in. Not sure what else I can do other than remember it’s a phase and just ride it out!

Itonlytakesaminute · 07/01/2024 22:01

Congratulations on the new babies who have arrived!
I also have a hungry baby, 4 weeks old and in 5oz every 3-4 hours , and he's draining the bottles now!

Nclktnntt · 08/01/2024 02:53

Hope everyone's doing well, baby has got an infection and we are now being kept in till at least Wednesday, I was discharged from the hospital care today but will remain in hospital with baby and they've moved us to our own private room which is nice.

Those of you who had csections - did you need more pain meds following the week after surgery? My hospital have given me 7 days worth from today and says to speak with my doctor regarding further pain management. Is a weeks worth enough or will I definitely need More?

Congrats @Avie29 and @Nclktnntt on the final arrival of your little ones! Guessing this now means all December due babies have arrived?

@Nclktnntt sorry to hear your baby has an infection. Fingers crossed they have a speedy recovery and you'll both get to go home Wednesday.

Beans1982 · 08/01/2024 03:17

Out of interest, is anyone else finding their baby vomits/spits up milk after feeding?

For the first 8or 9 days I was exclusively breastfeeding but it was so hard, especially with getting a proper latch to the point I had v. sore bleeding nipples. So, we're trying combo feeding with the Kendamil formula. Seems to be working quite well apart from the vomiting - anyone else combo feeding and found baby vomiting/spiting up milk after feeds?

Crabbit1212 · 08/01/2024 06:32

Yes! Im like you with the breast but cant get a good latch so ive been pumping but gave formula also but baby is being sick (projectile) so i took it upon mysef go to the chemist yesterday and buy a reflux formula …. Started at babys 6pm feed … had the best night ever, just woke for a feed now 😄 long may this continue xxx

FirstMondayInMay · 08/01/2024 07:42

@Nclktnntt sorry to hear baby has an infection, hopefully they recover from it quick!

I had to ask my GP for another week of pains meds. Similar to you, I was discharged but baby was readmitted on day 2 for jaundice treatment so we spent most of the first week in hospital. I just explained to them how it’d been a rough week and obviously not being in the right environment to focus on recovering and they were happy to prescribe. Funnily enough though, I only took 2 tablets out of them

you’ll feel so much better once you’re home, in a proper bed!

Flowers90 · 08/01/2024 08:13

@Beans1982 our little one is on kendamil and having spit up after every feed. Seems to be increasing in amount too. I'm also tempted to try a reflux formula to see if it helps

GingerJanee · 08/01/2024 08:47

Congratulations @Nclktnntt and @Avie29 on your new arrivals!

@Nclktnntt I definitely thought I’d need more pain medication after the first week but I managed on paracetamol for day 8 - 10. The pain definitely eases from day 6-7, really really would emphasis limited movement because I’m near the end of my 7 day antibiotics for an infection in my wound and I know this is my own fault for doing too much. Only feeling slightly human the last day or two the infection was worse than the original pain after the c section!

SMG1992 · 08/01/2024 08:56

I’d be interested to hear how people get on with anti reflux formula
My baby has been struggling the last couple of days and it’s horrible to see him in discomfort- I might need to make a gp appointment about introducing some gaviscon as I really want to make the pain better for him!

@Nclktnntt you almost definitely won’t need the extra pain meds. I stopped taking the codeine after a couple of days as didn’t like the side effects on my gut! You’ll feel much better when you are home. Do a little bit of movement each day but take it easy, I felt almost back to normal after a couple of weeks!

99SR · 08/01/2024 12:30

@Nclktnntt i echo what others have said. I was sent home with just paracetamol & ibuprofen from day 2. I had some dehydrocodine in my house that I took for 2 days then just used paracetamol as I needed them but generally felt ok! I still sometimes feel a little twinge depending on what way I move but it’s not too bad. I am 24 days post c section tho but I feel completely fine. Actually wish had the ok to drive as I feel fine.

Noname112 · 08/01/2024 16:44

not sure if this is a thing but this baby and my first around 10 days old had some projectile vomiting and more spit up than we’d had before. With my first I panicked saw dr and ended up in gaviscon although was a nightmare to give to breastfed baby so didn’t have much. This baby I just ignored it (poor 2nd child) and it’s pretty much resolved within a week and just having some small spit ups once or twice a day. I wondered if it was just there tummies getting used to more milk or something but definitely seems to have just got better with time.
