Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

I’m 19 weeks and have felt the baby for a couple of weeks and it’s getting stronger every week. It’s so nice! My 2nd pregnancy though so they say you can feel them earlier 😊

oop · 08/01/2024 13:29

I've been feeling baby intermittently since about 15/16 weeks (second baby and felt early with first too) but it's still not every day or anything. Got some lovely little kicks last night though when I was trying to sleep on my tummy 😂. I'm 19 weeks now.

I don't think I started feeling my first two until around 18-20 weeks 🤔 every pregnancy is different/it depends where your uterus is lying. The first kicks I always mistake for gas anyway and I start questioning oh is that her?

glasshalffull0 · 08/01/2024 13:53

Is anyone else getting period like pains quite often? I’m 15 weeks and every time I go to the toilet I check there’s no blood as it’s putting me on edge!

VJ88 · 08/01/2024 14:23

@glasshalffull0 I'm 15+3 today and feel slightly similar. I can only describe it as feeling very aware of my uterus... I keep trying to tell myself it is probably normal to feel some strange discomfort as everything is growing, but it does make me feel very anxious. It's not quite like period pains, but definitely uncomfortable.

DemelzaRobins · 08/01/2024 17:16

I'm 19+2. First baby and nothing movements wise so far. I've had some round ligament pains and the odd feeling I've wondered whether it's a kick or not but I assume when I actually feel kicks it will be clear and obvious!

I have a low lying posterior placenta according to my 12 week scan.

Mountainview8 · 09/01/2024 08:07

It's my first baby and I think I've been feeling flutters since 14 weeks, it was just if I sat still and was focused, but then I keep thinking maybe it's just in my mind! I'm now 19 weeks and feel like they're getting stronger, but still not sure if it's actually kicks!

oop · 09/01/2024 17:46

Had my 20 week scan and all looking perfect. Also found out we're having a girl! ❤️

I'm so glad this has been mentioned! I'm also 15+3 and been getting this all day on and off, also intermittent back pain either side. I suppose it's normal but it's still an unpleasant sensation (in a hope everything's ok sort of way)

hi everyone, im a first time mum and due the 18th of June! ive suffered really bad with hyperemesis and been admitted to hospital twice! i was just wondering whether you all have started to notice a bump yet, im yet to have any sign of a bump i weigh 8 stone 11 so only small anyway

xx

DanisEndo · 10/01/2024 16:44

@ftm97001 welcome ! And sorry to hear you’ve been suffering :(
I’m 16 weeks and have defo started to notice a little bump and have had a few people comment how lovely it is noticing that I’m starting to show.
From what I can tell it’s very different person to person though and not something to worry about if you’re still smaller or bigger than someone else.

DanisEndo · 10/01/2024 16:57

My last scan was 18th December, the next isnt until 16th of February and I’m already DESPERATE to see them again! I feel like I’m missing them which is mad.

BUT wanting to avoid splurging on private appointments when that money could go toward the baby or mat leave..

just a moan / vent really 😂 anyone else missing knowing what their bean is up to?

I'm the exact same too! We find out the gender on the 14th Feb and I'm desperate to pay and find out earlier but other half is being very sensible and saying its money that we could do without spending, I hate it when he's reasonable!

MsNeis · 11/01/2024 10:30

Hello everyone!

I've also been feeling flutters irregularly: i felt them very soon (2nd pregnancy), but I've not been feeling them everyday or in a regular fashion. I asked my midwife and she said not to worry, it's too soon and it depends on the position of the baby and the placenta. So, in case anyone is worried, don't need to be 😊

As for the bump: I too have an enormous bump and feel absolutely pregnant (shortness of breath while walking fast or going up the stairs at home), and I've been feeling very uncomfortable whenever I have to pick up something from the floor (my toddler is not very happy about it, obviously 😔).

I still don't know the sex of the baby, and next week I have my 20 week scan (I'll be 20w3d): I too feel impatient and like I can't wait! I hope everything is ok 🙏Congratulations to everyone who has had their scan!

I'm struggling with my pregnancy brain! (Or is it just my brain and I'm making excuses...) Anyone else feels like they can't function doing practical things, like cooking? I feel utterly clumsy whenever I try to cook! It's like I forgot how to do it! 😂

oop · 11/01/2024 10:32

@MsNeis I found out at my 20wk scan that I have an anterior placenta this time which explains why I can't feel her as clearly as I did my first 😊. I wasn't worried as such but it's a relief to know the reason for it!

I’m 16 weeks and haven’t felt any movements yet. The midwife listened to the heartbeat at the 16 week appointment and said it was ok though.
I’ve got Covid and I’m feeling shit today. Only had the vaccine a few weeks ago!

GeeinItLaldyX · 11/01/2024 21:47

Hi ladies! Hope everything is going well.

Bit of a long one.. I had a pretty horrific day, have had some light bleeding for a couple of days (17 weeks pegnant) so was told to head into hospital today to get checked. Saw the midwife first who was fab and heard the heartbeat and she aaid everything was grand.

I was then sent to a Dr for a speculum to check where the bleeding was coming from. After the examination she sat me down and told me my cervix was open and I was definitely having a miscarriage. She ran through the possibilities of how the miscarriage may go and said I may have to stay in hospital and may need surgery. Told me to get my husband to come to the hospital with an overnight bag. Obviously I was devastated and a bit of a mess.

I was then was seen by a registrar who did another examination and she said I could be having a miscarriage but she thinks that there is a polyp at the cervix and that is the more likely cause. I then was sent ultrasound and baby was absolutely fine and the cervix was closed and defo not having a miscarriage. It turns out the first Dr was a GP trainee on rotation.

I'm over the moon baby is doing well but I have been left feeling pretty traumatised, terrified and have been in tears since even though i know baby is ok. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and had any advice. I am debating changing the hospital as I feel like I can't trust them now. The registrar and midwife were fantastic, it was just the experience with the GP trainee that was horrific.

Chaiandtoast · 11/01/2024 23:29

Oh no @GeeinItLaldyX that is so awful. I’m so sorry you went through that, what an emotional day, even with good news now that’s so difficult. I can’t believe the dr was so certain and so awful with delivering that info as well.
excellent news that the baby is ok in there though and that you got to see them too.
have they told you what happens next? Will you get some extra monitoring? What are the other near by hospitals like?

WhatTheFudge0 · 11/01/2024 23:40

That sounds traumatising, I'm not surprised you feel that way. I'm sorry you've had to go through that. So pleased for you that the baby is doing ok. Could you ask to see a consultant so you can be reassured by someone more senior?

It is so important for your sanity to feel like you're in safe hands with your pregnancy and I don't blame you for wanting to change but I'd wait to see how they manage you first.

Hope you're ok.

Is anyone else getting period like pains quite often? I’m 15 weeks and every time I go to the toilet I check there’s no blood as it’s putting me on edge!

I had this constantly up until at least 16 weeks and still have it occasionally at 18. I was constantly off to the loo to check for blood as well. Think it was just everything shifting and stretching but I do also have some pretty severe round ligament pain which I have had since 6 weeks 😣 not sure if they are connected or not but the period like pains defo feel like they have settled in the last few weeks! Hopefully be the same for you! Try and not let it worry you…easier said than done I know!

VJ88 · 12/01/2024 07:30

I am so sorry you had to experience this. That must have been so traumatic and I imagine you're very shaken up.

You can change to a different hospital at any time in your care, but you can also ask for a different Dr at any point. If you decide to stay where you are and go to a future appointment and see that particular doc again, just ask if it's possible to see someone else before the appointment even starts. I'm pregnant following a pretty traumatic loss and I've been able to specify exactly which midwife and Dr I want to care for me.

If you feel up to it, I would also make a complaint about the GP trainee and that could really help inform their training and avoid other women having to deal with this in the future.

I'm sorry again you had such a scary experience ❤️

GeeinItLaldyX · 12/01/2024 10:23

I am fine with the bleeding itself, I have had it on and off the entire pregnancy so far it was just that this was going on a bit longer so thought I better get it checked. I wasnt actually concerned when I went to the hospital because of that and was pretty sure I wasnt having a miscarriage. So I am not worried about that part of it, I am more just worried about having a similar experience later down the line and giving birth. But yeah, I think I might put in a complaint just so it is noted as I am not sure what she told the registrar as the register seemed quite surprised about the mess I was in by the time she came to see me. I wish I had just stood up for myself a bit more at the time and trusted the fact I really did not think I was having a miscarriage but hard to think straight when you are in the moment.

Thank you for all your advice! Pregnancy is a wild ride and its so nice to have people to talk to about it.

Ad12345678 · 12/01/2024 17:43

@GeeinItLaldyX I’m so sorry for your experience. Definitely fill in a complaint form, the hospital should have such a service in place. It should both help you to get some closure and the trainee with their training. I used a similar service when I felt vulnerable and sad after my first appointment and I was quite pleased with their answer.

@GeeinItLaldyX oh my gosh what an awful experience! I'm so glad everything with baby is okay after all but I'm not surprised you're feeling a bit traumatised after that. I would definitely look into making a complaint as it sounds like the GP trainee handled it really badly.
