Couldn't see another and the old one is full. Will copy the list from the last one, the tags are really temperamental though and it definitely has quite a few people missing sorry 🙈

Hey everyone!
Have just been trying to catch up on this thread, have been quiet and haven’t actually been on part 9 at all…hope everyone is well🤍

Seen the thrush chat, I’ve had continuous thrush for months now…constant pessaries prescribed for treatment but not worked at all so think it’s just going to be a case of it’ll go when baby is out!

Induction I had one with my 1st (pessary) my labour was absolutely fine and quite quick for being first…my 2nd was in distress, it was very traumatic and my placenta didn’t come out afterwards and that was natural birth so I actually had a better labour with an induction😭

I’m wondering if anyone has ever experienced anything similar…I’m 34+5 today, my waters broke yesterday (not just a trickle like fully broke have been pouring out since 8:30am yesterday morning. I came to triage and was admitted to antenatal ward to observe and in case I went into labour which I haven’t. The doctor has just been round and he’s happy for me to go home this afternoon after a second steroid injection and come back to the hospital to be checked twice a week, I was under the impression if your waters broke you had to deliver in a certain time to prevent infection. The doctor has said it’s balancing the risk of infection and prematurity but in my opinion the infection risk is higher as baby is almost 6lbs roughly and I’ve had 2 steroid injections.

Sorry for the long post I’m just very anxious after how my labour went with my second to be walking around not knowing if he’s ok in there!

RaspberryTime · 08/12/2023 11:38

@suz2285 Thank you, I really appreciate hearing about your experience. I’m all vaccinations up to date but being severely asthmatic I can’t help but worry. I did call triage last night in the end who were lovely and really reassuring. Just want to feel better now and not feel guilty that every time I blow my nose or cough that I’m disturbing baby/encouraging him out too soon!!

suz2285 · 08/12/2023 11:51

@am3017 yeah I thought it was 24 hours after waters broke that you had to deliver... let us know what happens?

@RaspberryTime I have asthma too though not severe and I did have more breathing issues the first time I had covid, this time I've been ok just more like a cold, don't worry about coughing etc, baby is protected

I'm just waiting a call back from the midwife too, I've been getting swollen feet and hands, and had a super busy day at work yest, where I usually get swollen feet even if I'm not pregnant! But my bp seems to also be up too so now I just want to check all ok! Both parents have bp issues and mine has never been low so hopefully nothing bad and it's just the extra blood flow 🤞🤞

am3017 · 08/12/2023 11:55

I was sure it was too unless different hospitals have different rules but you would think not…my sisters waters broke at 33 weeks (7 years ago) only leaking not fully broke like mine have and she was induced after 24 hours, it’s just making me very anxious as they’ve said after I get my steroid injection this afternoon I can go home even although I’ve told them I’ve not been feeling movement so won’t be able to judge things on that at home!
Will keep you updated

@am3017 I'm so sorry, how stressful. Can you ask to come into triage and be checked every day if you can't judge movements? Before I was induced (for something different) they asked me to come in every day for a trace before. It just gives a bit of peace of mind that all's okay still

am3017 · 08/12/2023 12:22

I have a family friend who works in paediatrics and in her area they would check everyday anyway, I’m so shocked they aren’t offering this!
Building up the courage for round 2 with the doctor to fight my case😂

Mummyme87 · 08/12/2023 12:23

@am3017 sorry to hear your waters have broken prematurely. It is standard and national guidance to aim for 37weeks if waters break preterm. The steroids will help but babies are still under developed at this stage. If post 37weeks then no guidance for how long it should be before baby is born but nationally recommend induction after 24hours to reduce infection risk.
have they started you on oral antibiotics? My trust do 10days of oral antibiotics to reduce risk and twice weekly bloods and CTG. if any concerns obviously look towards delivering. We used to do induction at 34weeks but changed it a few years ago and outcomes for baby are much better.

Mummyme87 · 08/12/2023 12:27

@am3017 this is a link to the RCOG green top guidelines which everyone should be following which confirms 1 or 2 times per week outpatient monitoring and aiming for 37weeks https://obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/1471-0528.15803

am3017 · 08/12/2023 12:42

@Mummyme87 thank you so much for this!

am3017 · 08/12/2023 12:44

@Mummyme87 also meant to say yes they started me on antibiotics yesterday but haven’t mentioned given me any home after I leave

WitcheryDivine · 08/12/2023 13:03

Oh my gosh I had no idea that pre 37 weeks they would send you home after your waters have broken. I feel like there's way too much to learn - obviously there's a reason that it takes years to qualify as a midwife and even longer as an obstetrician, but it does feel a bit like we "should" have a working knowledge of all this somehow.

Is anyone else getting intense fatigue at 36 weeks? Last two days I've been barely able to keep my eyes open, and while I have been busy I haven't had particularly bad sleep (better if anything) or intense workload.

Matildahoney · 08/12/2023 13:28

@WitcheryDivine yes I'm exhausted! Decided to WFH today so I could sleep until 9.30! But I could go for a nap now! Body feels totally drained too. I'm 36+1 today. Roll on the weekend!

RaspberryTime · 08/12/2023 14:48

Hope all ok with the bp @suz2285 🤗

Solidarity @Matildahoney - drained is the word. I'm not sure what's going on in there but the bump feels sort of more "dynamic" too??

Matildahoney · 08/12/2023 15:35

@WitcheryDivine I'm so done with being pregnant it's unreal! I'm doing all the old wives tales to try to get it to come early! Baby is fidgetier than ever! Kept kicking DP last night when we were cuddled up 🤣 no idea how I'll get through the next 4 weeks if it's as long as that! Thankfully I finish work next Fri and that can't come soon enough!!

Mummyme87 · 08/12/2023 15:49

@Matildahoney they’ll be here soon enough. Get to term then start manifesting their birth ❤️

couple of hours wandering round town has killed me off. I’m just constantly in pain and paracetamol I will keep on taking but it’s not touching the sides. Ah the joy. Need to decorate the house and tree with the kids but a cup of tea is first.

Matildahoney · 08/12/2023 16:00

@Mummyme87 They won't let me go past term because of my age, also they think baby will be around 9.5lb, and my BMI is slightly higher than they'd like, I've put on about 17kg during the pregnancy, although yesterday's midwife said although I have some high risk factors she was going to put me down as normal risk.
I was hoping baby would be early like I was!

You're lucky you managed a couple of hours, 40 mins the other night near on killed me!! Thankfully this is our first so not bothering with a tree this year!

LozzieLoo · 08/12/2023 16:10

Interesting in terms of birth plans, I still need to do mine. Although we had a growth scan today and he’s looking chunky at 6lb1 at 34+1 so that might affect all plans! Another scan in a couple of weeks to see if he’s still big and then discuss options.

Bims2019 · 08/12/2023 16:17

@WitcheryDivine oh yes, the 36 week tiredness has got me too! Just feel so heavy and sleepy all the time, napping where possible but it's not enough.

@Matildahoney I'm finishing work next Friday too! It really can't come soon enough.

Hummusanddipdip · 08/12/2023 17:36

I'm scared to do it, but I think I need to get signed off work next week. Came to see my parents to be told the the tumour my mum had removed a couple of weeks ago is a very aggressive cancer. I'm not sure I can cope.
But it's double edged because we're so short with staffing I'm already feeling guilty contemplating it. But I'm not sure I'll be any good to the children and the right kind of support we need in school.

On a positive note, after having all the garage works cancelled for after Christmas, we've managed to find someone else that's come really highly recommended and he's starting work Monday. So that will be done for Christmas instead of after. Need to spend the weekend sorting the garage ready... that'll be fun.

Bims2019 · 08/12/2023 17:49

@Hummusanddipdip take the time off, your work will find a way to manage and you have to look after you and your family. So sorry about your mum.

Matildahoney · 08/12/2023 19:29

@Hummusanddipdip as everyone keeps saying to me, if you went into labour tomorrow they'd have to cope! And DP keeps shouting at me to put myself first! Baby and mumma come first!

Mummyme87 · 08/12/2023 19:31

@Hummusanddipdip I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. Definitely finish early if you need to, work always should come second although I know in reality that’s hard

LozzieLoo · 08/12/2023 20:08

@Hummusanddipdip so sorry to hear. Definitely take the time off work as at the end of the day it’s just a job, they will manage without you. Yours and baby’s wellbeing must come first ❤️
