@DollyGx I know it can change so fast but I just feel like I’m going overdue! 🤣

@Chellooo ooooh how exciting! At least you know baby will be here soon. my waters didn’t break with either of my girls until their heads were coming out so I don’t have much hope for them going either x

@Katiec1 Yeah I went 6 days over with my first! I think I will be induced around the 24th too if nothing happens before that, I haven’t tried anything to get labour started tbh 😂

@Travellingislife ahh you’re so close! I think I’m being offered induction at 41 weeks and I’ll accept, my 2nd girl was induced and it was great tbh as far as labour goes. I’ll go up to 1 week over happily but that’s definitely enough for me 😆
my 1st I had braxton hicks every night for 5 days before the actual real labour started. This time nothing!

Psqueak87 · 07/11/2023 12:13

She’s finally here after a 45 hour labour. Honestly the whole thing was quite awful and not what I wanted or expected, but in the end I just told the doctors to do what they needed. And they got her out safely.

She was born just past midnight and 6lb 11oz.

when they went to break my waters, they found that they had already broken. So on Saturday when I thought they possibly had but then convinced myself I’d just had a pee leak, they were infect broken.

so by Monday night they said she was at risk of infection due to the sac being broken 48 hours previously. Then her heart rate was too high, then it was dropping too low.

I pushed for 2 hours after being fully dilated and they said I had two options: forceps or c section. I just wanted it over asap so I went for forceps, even though I had it as a no on my birth plan. And they also said they needed to do an episiotomy to get her out.

so I have what feels like a million stitches inside and outside: but she’s here. Thank god. Now I’m going to try and sleep as I haven’t slept in days.

@Psqueak87 congratulations! She’s gorgeous! I’m so sorry it was such a difficult labour that didn’t go to plan but glad she’s here safely for you, hope you get some rest lovely 💞

LilmissCa · 07/11/2023 13:51

@Psqueak87 massive congratulations to you both ❤️ she is just gorgeous ❤️ well done!!!
You had such a tough time, glad it's all over now. Definitely rest up, you have earned it !

Travellingislife · 07/11/2023 14:25

@Psqueak87 she is adorable, congratulations! That sounded like a very hard labour, hope you can rest up and then enjoy the baby bubble.

PinkPlantCase · 07/11/2023 15:36

Congratulations! She looks so much like you @Psqueak87 ! Which is sweet because most newborns seem to a look 100% like their dad.

Sorry to hear you had a rough time, get some rest and lots of cuddles, you DH will have to take extra care of you both. Do you get your own room in the hospital now?

reememberly · 07/11/2023 15:49

Well done @Psqueak87 - what an ordeal, but you did it and she’s here safely and she’s absolutely adorable. Hope you’re getting a chance to rest now.

DollyGx · 07/11/2023 15:49

@Psqueak87 ahhh congratulations!! She is absolutely beautiful 🥰 sorry to hear it was tough going, you’re an absolute trooper well done! Hope you manage to get some well earned rest, take it as easy and enjoy lots of baby cuddles 💖💖

Psqueak87 · 07/11/2023 15:50

@PinkPlantCase unfortunately all the private rooms are for Covid positive people, so I’m in with someone else, only one other couple so it’s not too bad, but it’s very small, not even a chair for my partner.

he went home last night to try and get some sleep and I felt very lost. He’s a natural at this and I’m still very clueless. But I guess he also doesn’t have stitches and huge bruising in his nether regions so hopefully I will catch up once recovered.

Haha yeah I think she kinda looks like me too, especially my newborn photos. I’ll put a newborn one of me and one of her below. I’m sure she will warp into her daddy pretty soon, which I don’t mind as he’s definitely the looks of the relationship 😜

thanks everyone for your kind words. It’s been a rough 3 days but worth every second.

Thanks so much @WriMum22 - your section experience is really helpful to hear too, as I think you’re just a day ahead of me and my trajectory has been v similar. I got really down as well when I felt like I was going backwards, but feeling more hopeful today that it’s just a temporary set back. It is frustrating though. My midwife said today that recovery does often get harder with each section (this is my second), so try not to be too hard on yourself comparing to last time.

@Spareincoming Rationality definitely in short supply for me at the moment, but not sure it’s my strongest suit at the best of times. Will watch out for those bowel issues down the line, thanks - sounds horrible, but definitely easier to cope with if you know it‘s not a serious problem.
Good luck escaping the house this weekend!

WriMum22 · 07/11/2023 16:22

@reememberly Thanks, my husband said something similar to me last night and tried to remind me this is the second time round my body has done this so it’s understandable that it may take a little longer to recover and that I may recover in a different way. I hope you’ve felt better today, I started the day off struggling slightly but went for a very slow walk and as the day has progressed the pain has subsided slightly and I feel today is a much better day. Just going to take each day at a time and where the pain regresses I’ll take that as my body telling me to rest for a bit.

WriMum22 · 07/11/2023 16:23

@Psqueak87 congratulations, she’s beautiful! Sorry to hear how difficult it has been for you, look after yourself during recovery x

LeeanneD11 · 07/11/2023 17:37

Congratulations @Psqueak87 she's absolutely beautiful, sorry you had a rough experience, but it's all over now , enjoy your baby bubble , I have 7 days to go but don't think I will make it as been having period style cramps all night and day xx

Spareincoming · 07/11/2023 17:46

@Psqueak87 Congratulations! She’s beautiful! Sorry to read it wasn’t what you’d hoped for; hopefully your recovery will be a smooth one.

Awww she's adorable! Congratulations to you. Hopefully you have a better recovery than labour x

Crazybrowncow · 07/11/2023 18:44

Congratulations @Psqueak87 great news! Well done for getting through such a long labour.

@JoyApple - how are you getting on? Are you feeling any better? x

Mrsrobinsonx · 07/11/2023 19:09

@Psqueak87 glad she’s here safely! Congratulations xx

Thack · 07/11/2023 20:35

Well done @Psqueak87 that is a helluva lot to go through and you got her here safely ❤️ she is adorable!

Take it easy. No one knows what they're doing with newborns: you just feel better about winging it as your confidence grows.

greentreeseverywhere · 07/11/2023 21:38

Hi all. I was here in the beginning and haven't kept up! been busy with life, a 6 year old and trying to work!
But I'm 37 weeks (2nd pregnancy 1st via IVf) and have my Ecs date for the 24th November which is 5 days before my due date.
Hope your all well and congratulations to all those who have already got their babies ❤️

You e got a little twin! She’s beautiful

GreenAventurinee · 07/11/2023 22:17

How much and how often are your newborns feeding?
my 8 day old is taking 1-2 ounces every 4 hours and I feel like it’s a tiny amount!

I am extremely excited that my milk started coming in this morning though! Didn’t have any milk with my first, so this is new!
I was given colostrum collectors and I’ve been playing around with those this evening and managed to give her a little on a syringe. Super proud of myself 🤣

foodislife1 · 08/11/2023 01:51

Mine is BF and it seems like he's feeding every 1-3hrs but like you, I'm not sure he's having enough (hard to measure when breastfed).
Going with it for now but it's exhausting already!

Thack · 08/11/2023 02:16

@foodislife1 similar frequency here for breastfed. If nappy output is there and baby is growing then they are getting plenty from you!
There will be fussy phases and growth spurts where babies are unsettled and demand more, otherwise they soon let you know if they are hungry.
Are you eating lots too? I'm trying to up my calories, need the energy!

Nov2023 · 08/11/2023 04:29

Congratulations to those with new arrivals and good luck to those who are close! I'm just hitting 37 weeks now and am suddenly ultra emotional. Did/ does anyone else have this? Crying and feeling irritable for no reason at all! I wonder does it mean my little one won't be waiting for their section at the end of the month?

JD90 · 08/11/2023 04:46

@Nov2023 I'm 37+4 and to be honest have been having horrendous mood swings/irritability for the last month or so and a definite increase in hormonal emotional crying/feeling upset in the last 2 weeks. I think a lot of it is the combination of hormones and anticipation! It's super draining though and my poor DP and DD both like to sarcastically complain about how mean I am 🤣 absolutely dire insomnia definitely hasn't helped either!
