I started putting bits in baby bag today and there’s a pile of my stuff in the spare room. Going to make lists tomorrow, I was packing my bag still on my induction days previously 😂 also I need our suitcases for going away so can’t use them yet.

think I’ve got the bug. Had a gripey tummy all day, had what felt like very painful tightening this evening and vommed twice in the last hour. Joy bloody joy. Luckily kept myself off work tomorrow so they’ve been able to cover me rather than middle of the night panic as I was the only person who could be in charge.

EL27 · 17/11/2023 23:23

@Luhou no but I feel I need to make a start on the hospital bag!

Had health visitor appointment the other day (which honestly I didn't realise they came to visit before birth as a first timer) But she was very informative and helpful and she told me I should make a start on the hospital bag, so now it's next thing on my mind 😅

If anyone wants to share their list for themselves and baby, I'd really appreciate it!

Matildahoney · 17/11/2023 23:25

@EL27 how far along are you? I haven't had a health visitor appointment & I don't believe my niece did before she had her first a couple of months ago.

Lilothblos · 17/11/2023 23:28

Ooh gosh I haven’t started my hospital bag yet either (due 12th Jan). Ordered a few bits for it this week so should probably start packing or doing a list soon at least! This has been a good prompt!

EL27 · 17/11/2023 23:34

@Matildahoney 33 weeks today! Yeah she contacted me about a week ago through a phone call to arrange a home visit. She basically explained her role, about feeding, safe sleep etc and took more details. It may be different in different areas though I'm in South Wales.

LittleAlien24 · 18/11/2023 06:37

About piles. I know it doesn't sound appealing but it really does help and for me it helped quicker than medicine. I got them after my 1st pregnancy so getting them now and then even if not pregnant. Take 1 raw potato, peel it and grate with biggest grate. Take old piece of cloth/clean sock etc and put the potato mass on it. Place it on the piles and pull underwear over it. Take it off when potato mass is dry. I did it 3x a day and for only 2 days and they gone back in.

Mummyme87 · 18/11/2023 07:33

I was offered a HV appt this time via text, never have before. It depends on area and funding.

feel awful, don’t know if I’ve got norovirus or something. I’ve been on the toilet most of the night holding a bowl. Can’t keep fluids down and bloody hell I feel dry as a bone. 😣🤢

Luhou · 18/11/2023 07:34

@LittleAlien24 thanks for the tip. I'd of done anything to get rid of mine last time round. They were horrific.

MrsJ6921 · 18/11/2023 07:57

I have my 2nd baby shower today organised by my best friends. Definitely ready to hibernate until Christmas after today!

Lilothblos · 18/11/2023 08:33

Oh no @Mummyme87 that sounds horrible!! I hope it passes quickly and you can keep some liquids down at least soon.

@MrsJ6921 enjoy your baby shower!

Luhou · 18/11/2023 08:39

Hope you feel better soon @Mummyme87

sashastuck · 18/11/2023 08:39

@MrsJ6921 enjoy your baby shower!

I’m really sorry I’ve not responded/posted much on here recently. All is well but I’m SO. TIRED.!!!!

@Luhou I’ve packed about two thirds of my/baby’s hospital bag. I’ll share my list but obviously as a FTM others may wish to correct me on things I’ve listed to pack!! I’m washing baby’s clothes this weekend - just don’t know where I’m going to find the energy in December!

LittleAlien24 · 18/11/2023 12:08

@Mummyme87 hope you feeling better soon
@MrsJ6921 enjoy your baby shower

My bedroom is covered in stones, old plaster and dust 😩 lads should be finishing today with all the chiseling and hiding the tubes so only wires left to put through the tubes and some time after he's born need to plaster the room. I'll be probably cleaning my room until the morning to make sure i get rid of all the dust and then off to wash his clothes again 😏

AshleyCali2Uk · 18/11/2023 15:55

Hello, I just wanted to introduce myself to the chat. I'll be giving birth in Barnsley Jan 2024. It will be my first UK birth experience. My last 3 were in California. I'm nervously excited. All my births were CS including this one. My due date is Feb 4 however they are hoping that my CS can be moved to Jan 29 (that week) so I can give birth before labor starts. My CS is scheduled 8th Feb 4 days after I'm due so I hope I am able to be moved up to give birth in Jan as planned.

buckingmad · 18/11/2023 16:43

Second growth scan today. Baby actually measuring a bit over 50th centile on scan, fundal measuring below 3rd 😂 just shows how much it can vary and bump size means absolutely nothing. Baby head down still which is good.

EL27 · 18/11/2023 16:55

@AshleyCali2Uk Hello, congrats welcome to the thread! I hope you have a good birth experience here in the UK 😊

@buckingmad wow that's crazy difference. the more people I've spoke to fundal measurements seem really inaccurate!

I've recently been feeling baby's movements a lot stronger in the past week or so (33 weeks) seems he was having a dance party when I was trying to sleep last night and have been feeling the kicks in my ribs now. Even my cat saw him wriggle from the outside and freaked out 😆

Hummusanddipdip · 18/11/2023 17:38

Hi @AshleyCali2Uk and welcome!!!

Hope the baby shower went well today @MrsJ6921 and hope you're starting to feel a bit brighter @Mummyme87

@sashastuck it's knackering, I've hit the uncomfortable stage as well 🫣 your list looks good.

I've got constant heartburn, so full on nastiness in my throat all the time, gavicon doesn't touch it anymore, so I think he's another hairy baby!

@buckingmad got my 2nd on Wednesday, hoping the consultant appointment isn't delayed by 3 hours like my last one. And I'm actually home before 7pm...

FirstT1meMum · 18/11/2023 18:02

Hope you had a lovely day @MrsJ6921 👶👶

Struggling today with painful stomach! Hoping it's just everything stretching and baby seems to have moved further round as it's like there's a foot in my side more today than Central tummy. Feeling rather uncomfortable but I feel since the consultants comment on Thursday I'm hypervigilant and on edge more 🙃

Luhou · 18/11/2023 20:47

@Hummusanddipdip my heartburn also horrific. It's so unpleasant.

Mummyme87 · 18/11/2023 21:02

Urgh still unwell. Been in bed all day, struggling with fluids, never been this unwell 😣

FirstT1meMum · 18/11/2023 21:42

@Mummyme87 oh no that sounds horrendous! Hope you are able to get some rest tonight and feel better!

Currently in triage as was a bit worried about baby's movements and obviously as soon as I've been hooked up she's been going absolutely crazy 🤦🏼‍♀️ felt the need to apologise profusely but all the staff and midwives have been so lovely and said they would prefer this! Feel reassured massively as her heart rate is back measuring between 127-160.

Onedayatatime24 · 19/11/2023 09:02

@Mummyme87 oh gosh, hope you feel better soon and it's just a 24/48 hour thing! 🤞

@FirstT1meMum better to be safe than sorry! Glad to hear baby is having a good wiggle and heartbeat all good. 💖

I have most bits for my hospital bag, just need to put them into an actual bag 😅 and wash my PJs and baby's clothes then all can be packed. Trying to do as much before Christmas as I can do I can relax that first week of Jan before baby arrives!

Although I have such a strong feeling he'll be here early. No reason to believe this at all, medically all fine for him to be in there until 40 weeks. There's just something niggling in me to get things ready before Christmas 😅

PartRadish · 19/11/2023 10:00

@Mummyme87 Really hope you've managed some sleep and feel better this morning, sounds awful! 😔

@FirstT1meMum Glad all is okay. I had the same a few weeks ago, party time as soon as the monitor went on, I felt a bit silly too 🥴

Has anyone been for a tour around labour ward and if so would you say it was worth it?

I'm supposed to be going at 1pm today (group tour, not just me) but tbh I just can't really be bothered 🙈 Its Sunday, I have uniforms to sort and food shopping and several thousand other things I need to get sorted. Plus I've actually already given birth there once (this is baby 4) and I've been admitted to labour ward twice in this pregnancy so far, for my rescue stitch and again for threatened preterm labour. I feel like I know it pretty well 😆 I feel guilty skipping it though 🥴
