@LittleAlien24 Your experience sounds similar to mine with my 2nd csection. I found having a debrief with the anaesthetist was really helpful. Also, prior my csection this time around, I spoke in depth with that anaesthetist about what happened and she was brilliant,she said that she can put some extra stuff in place to help and we spoke strategies on what I think would help me remain calm. And it all did work. There was a moment where I started freaking out because I started to have flashbacks and feared it was happening all over again but the team recognised what was going on straight away and helped me through and it all was fine again. Hopefully you can have a positive debrief soon and can talk to the anaesthetist and Midwife about youth wishes?

@Kalodin how are you?

Mushroo · 17/11/2023 15:31

Stupid first time mum question.

I know babies are supposed to sleep on a flat, clear surface eg Moses basket or crib.

However, I keep reading how lots of babies will only sleep on you / in a sling.

Is that safe as it’s obviously not flat….

So if I can get her to nap in a sling that’s ok from a SIDS / safety perspective?

Luhou · 17/11/2023 15:40

@Mushroo provided you're awake it's safe for baby to have contact naps with you. This obviously isn't ideal over night as you will want to sleep and that is not safe.

Carriers are generally safe. Have a look at the ticks accronym which gives guidance for their use.

Mummyme87 · 17/11/2023 15:45

Yes As @Luhou said, slings and contact naps are safe if you’re awake, for slings there is a check thing for safety.

Mushroo · 17/11/2023 15:47

@Luhou @Mummyme87 brill thank you both :)

LittleAlien24 · 17/11/2023 17:09

@Kalodin thanks for sharing your experience. I was tearing up last night thinking about what happened and then that I've another cs coming. Luckily here they'll allow my husband to be with me so im hoping it will help. My last cs they wouldn't allow anyone in, they said you coming here to give birth through operation and we don't have time to deal with anyone else. Don't think there's any meeting with anyone until the morning im in hospital when they star t preparing me.
Hope your little one is getting better and stronger. Was happy to see on FB that she's strong enough for you to hold her. Hopefully you feeling well aswell

@Mushroo if my second one couldn't have had contact naps/sleeps she wouldn't have slept for first 7 months. She wouldn't settle in crib, moses basket and not even when her father was holding her. She only slept next to me, on me, outside walks in the buggy or car drive (the minute it stopped she was up).

Sorry, totally unrelated to everything...we've had notification our pram is ready to collect! Possibly going to call in tomorrow and see if we can just collect it or if we need to arrange and then we've sorted it with my DF that we can store it at his until little lady arrives...so exciting! 🥰

MrsJ6921 · 17/11/2023 18:32

@FirstT1meMum thats so exciting! I loved picking ours up!

Luhou · 17/11/2023 18:47

Have people packed their hospital bag yet?

Matildahoney · 17/11/2023 18:59

@Luhou it's half packed, I keep dropping stuff in to it, then realising I don't have everything! (Due 4th Jan as I feel this is relevant)

lilluce95 · 17/11/2023 19:01

@FirstT1meMum how exciting! 🥰 which one did you go for? Ours isn't due for delivery until mid December and even then it'll take 3-6 weeks 🫠

@Luhou not yet... I don't even know where to start tbh with what I will and won't need 😓

FirstT1meMum · 17/11/2023 19:17

@MrsJ6921 it makes it so real and close now!

@Luhou I've made a start! Popped some bits in and starting ticking off my list.

@lilluce95 we went for the oyster 3. We had set our collection date for the 1st Dec but I think they had released the order early as they've been having some big delays with deliveries!

MrsJ6921 · 17/11/2023 19:22

@FirstT1meMum pram twins too!

MrsJ6921 · 17/11/2023 19:24

@Luhou I think I’ve packed 90% of my hospital bag, I just need some disposable knickers and to pop my going home outfit in but that’s a last minute thing. Baby’s is all done though and I’m due 5th January.

I found it really hard to judge when the ‘right’ time would be but I feel better knowing it’s sorted just in case.

suz2285 · 17/11/2023 19:27

@Luhou I'm exactly the same as @MrsJ6921, babies is done, just got a few last min bits to put in mine, going home clothes, chargers and snacks!

I wanted them ready just incase for any reason! Don't want to be doing them last min!

LittleAlien24 · 17/11/2023 19:40

@Luhou baby's is packed, haven't even started with mine😁

Hummusanddipdip · 17/11/2023 19:42

@Luhou I've made a list. Does that count?

Considering I'm sure baby will be here in the next 4/5 weeks, I should probably get myself organised 🤷‍♀️

Inmydreams88 · 17/11/2023 19:46

Starting to think about my hospital bag. Can anyone think of anything I’ve missed for myself?

Hospital bag list:

Breast pads/nipple cream
Maternity pads x2
Maternity bras
Button up nighty
Pjs

Going home leggings and jumper
Dark towel and flannel
Tens machine
Hand held Fan
Slippers/Flip flops
Peri bottle
Big Pants/socks
Snacks and drinks
Lip balm
Tooth brush/toothpaste
Shampoo/conditioner
Moisturiser
Makeup wipes
Deodorant
Brush/hair bands
Paracetamol
Long phone charger
Own pillow

Luhou · 17/11/2023 20:02

Oh wow you're all very organised. @Hummusanddipdip a list is further than I've got!

Luhou · 17/11/2023 20:04

@Inmydreams88 fluffy socks are a good option as you won't want slippers or flip flops on the bed.

...also pile cream.

Personallly going to try the boots cooling pads too.

Pile cream? That’s a depressing thought 🤣 Do you think I’ll need it if I’ve never had piles before?

Luhou · 17/11/2023 20:28

@Inmydreams88 yes! My piles were worse than my stitches in terms of pain after. I'd had a small flare up in pregnancy but nothing prior. They honestly made me so uncomfortable for at least 2 weeks after.

Hummusanddipdip · 17/11/2023 20:31

@Inmydreams88 I developed piles after having ds, I think it took a 3 week constant use of cream to clear up. This time they arrived about a month and a half ago, I've only now started to notice them going back in🤢/away this week and that's 3 applications a day of cream.
Hopefully they won't come back after birth... but yeah I agree with@Luhou take some just in case!

Inmydreams88 · 17/11/2023 20:38

@Luhou @Hummusanddipdip
Well I guess that’s something else for me to look forward to then 🙈🤣 Thanks Ladies!
