@Mushroo @suz2285 Ooh thanks, sounds like I definitely need to look into getting a ball!

Just looked and turns out there are no local NCT or Bump and Baby classes near us so I guess that's decided. 😂

@Bims2019 They told me if I didn't hear back after 2 days then I was fine, so fingers crossed you're clear!!

Another random question from me... is it worth buying a breast pump yet? I've got a code for 30% off Elvie but they're still £200+, which is a lot if I don't know if I'll ever need to use it! Maybe just wait until the Jan sales... what's everyone else doing on prep for feeding? It's probably the only big thing I've not sorted yet so haven't got any bottles, steriliser etc. as not sure what we'll need. Although as my DH keeps telling me, shops will still exist when baby is here. 😂

RG9895 · 09/11/2023 16:51

Had my ball for a while mainly to sit on as I find it comfy even though my husband thinks its the worst thing in the world to sit on 😂 have also been doing side to side and figure of 8's I don't know if its worked or not but bubba is head down ☺️ I am not sure when we start bouncing though anyone know if 32,36,38? No idea! Forgot to ask my midwife today!

Also had a different midwife which was a bit annoying and she didn't measure my bump, I asked her and she seemed to think she didn't need to even though they measured me last time and I got sent for a growth scan. Is everyone else being measured at every midwife appt? This was my 31 week for reference.

I measured myself and I think I'm on track but probs not accurate 😂 hopefully I have my usual lady next time and she measures me!

Also thinking of starting raspberry leaf tea next week (32w) but part of me is a bit scared 🙈 has anyone here used it in previous pregnancies and actually felt like it helped and did u go into labour earlier or anything?

Bims2019 · 09/11/2023 17:13

@Onedayatatime24 that's good to know, thank you!

Shame about the classes, I think there are online NHS ones which you could maybe attend? Sometimes I think this group is actually far more helpful than any class 😂

I haven't thought much about feeding prep 😬 so also interested in thoughts of the elvie. I'd like to breastfeed at first then start expressing later on, but I know you can't predict what will happen. Another one here who needs reminding that we can still buy things later!

Bims2019 · 09/11/2023 17:14

@RG9895 I assumed I'd be measured at every midwife appointment from 28 weeks onwards, but not sure if that's always the way. I was measured at the 31 week appt though, it could vary between trusts like so many other things?!

buckingmad · 09/11/2023 17:15

Reaching the end of my mental tether! Had a 4 hour exam yesterday which I don’t think went well so can’t wait to have to probably retake that again with 2 children. Then my horse is very poorly and I’m convinced it’s the end of the road. Drove back with toddler today (was at my mums) so am also wiped out by a 4 hour drive.

FirstT1meMum · 09/11/2023 17:42

@Kalodin sending lots of love, thinking of you all and hoping she improves ❤️

@Onedayatatime24 the only thing we've bought for feeding is some breast milk pouches which were on offer and some of those ready done bottles for the bag just incase. I'm hoping that there's a breast pump in the black Friday sale! 🤞

Had my 31 week midwife appointment yesterday and it all become very real when it's all documented about her positioning (cephalic 🥳) and being 4/5 engaged 😳 hoping this just means she's in the right position and nothing else!

LozzieLoo · 09/11/2023 18:01

I’m really sceptical about the bump measurements. In my last midwife appointment, the midwife measured me at 29cm (97th centile) and the student midwife at 25cm (50th centile)!
I’d much rather have a scan so I know with a bit more accuracy.

MrsJ6921 · 09/11/2023 19:08

@RG9895 I was sent for a growth scan last week at my 31 week appointment and my midwife said at my 34 week one she wouldn’t measure me at that one as I had already been measured within the two/three weeks.

Luhou · 09/11/2023 19:13

@Bims2019 over a week since my gestational diabetes test here and not heard a thing. Assuming all fine!

Luhou · 09/11/2023 19:14

Tutti bambini have got some good black friday deals. Also delighted to see that they now do a rocking foot attachment which I felt was the only lacking feature when I had DD.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 09/11/2023 19:17

@buckingmad so sorry about your horse and hope he/she makes a recovery

Dannic2018 · 09/11/2023 22:15

Sending love and strength @Kalodin ❤️

I had my midwife appointment today and surprisingly after an absolute nightmare with my teenage son last night my blood pressure is fine and baby is very active. All I’ve done since last night is cry! Parenting teenagers is the hardest thing on the planet

Need to look on Amazon for raspberry leaf tea too thanks for reminder

Bims2019 · 09/11/2023 22:27

@Luhou after that long I think it's fine to assume! Glad you're in the clear too 😊

@buckingmad so sorry about your horse, sounds like you've had a rough couple of days. Hope you're ok.

@Dannic2018 having been a horrible teenager myself, I can't imagine how hard it is parenting them! All that fun to come. Hope you're ok, it must be so tough!

Mummyme87 · 09/11/2023 23:09

We don’t measure bump at all, just have a 36week scan to replace everything.

no feeding prep here, bar bought nipple cream and reusable breast pads. Planning to breastfeed again so don’t need anything, although realised this morning I need nursing bras so hoping hot milk have a Black Friday sale!!

buckingmad · 10/11/2023 05:55

Thanks for the horsey well wishes. My vet friend has just checked on her and said she’s looking much better so hopefully not sepsis as feared and a more manageable infection. I’ve got mental health midwife check in in a couple of weeks and going to try not to be my usual self and minimise how I’m feeling. I came very close to PND with DD and didn’t have this grief etc on top so I really need to be proactive this time round.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/11/2023 07:17

@buckingmad oh I'm so glad to hear that. Hopefully treatment will be easy for her

Hummusanddipdip · 10/11/2023 07:36

That sounds positive @buckingmad and definitely don't minimise it when you speak to the mh midwife, they're there to help.

Thoughts are with you @Kalodin truly hope she's having better days.

I feel for you @Dannic2018 I'm finding the preteens I work with hard work, can't imagine parenting a teen yet!!

I've got 5 more weeks to get through, I don't know if I'll make it. I feel really uncomfortable and the feeling baby will be here early is getting more intense. I've dreamt a couple of times that I'm going to go into labour in the middle of the school day and traumatise all the children!!

LittleAlien24 · 10/11/2023 08:19

@buckingmad hopefully horsey gets better soon and you get the help you need

@Kalodin sending all the good wishes to you and your baby girl

@Dannic2018 hopefully you feel better today. I've 16 and 18 year olds, it's tough going at times.

No feeding prep here because im planning to fully breastfeed. Have nipple shields and reusable breast pads. Need to get nipple cream.

We got bad news on house renovations 😒 one of the big ceilings is in a really bad condition, needs all new supporting beams. So the money we had put aside to plaster living room and our room before he's born is going now to fix this stupid ceiling 😩
Plus next week i have to drive, myself, about 6 hours one way and few hours later back. we have to leave home about 4am

Gremlin84 · 10/11/2023 11:02

@buckingmad good news about horsey, hope she's on the mend soon with some meds and whatever else the vet says is needed. Also good about having a dedicated MH appointment - I echo your own thoughts about not minimising things; better to be fully honest and then they can help you as needed.

@Kalodin hope the better days get more and more frequent for your little girl.

Had 31 week appt today. All good - baby still head down apparently but just bobbing about in there, which sort of reassures me that there's no impending early arrival due! Trust has just moved across from paper notes to Cerner and the midwife was not happy XD apparently it's causing them no end of problems. We had a nice chat about the joys of new computer systems as well her confirming that I could still be in the midwife-led unit for birth despite having a StrepB UTI in June - they're all set up for antibiotic provision during labour. That was good to hear.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 10/11/2023 11:20

@LittleAlien24 so sorry, that's rubbish. How bad is the plaster in the rooms you were going to skim? We recently lined some of ours in thick lining paper after filling in the electrical chasing and rubbing it down as it was ropy and a bit crumbly but not terrible. It was a lot cheaper and allowed us to get the rooms clean and painted and looking nice. We did it in our bedroom, toddlers room, and hallway and it honestly looks almost as good as a replaster now it's decorated.

Commiserating though, we still have so much to do, so many snags, and extension starts just after baby arrives

LittleAlien24 · 10/11/2023 12:25

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 out of these 2 rooms living room is worse. Under the plaster is old cement on the bricks that's falling off at many places as well. Don't think we could get away with lining paper even in our bedroom. Joys of having a house in spain. They have no proper foundation on houses so all the damp rises and first floor walls are in shite in every few years.
Im trying to look at the bright side that at least all the chiseling for electricity will be done before he arrives because i couldn't imagine being here in this dust with him.
I wish you luck with the extension and everything else ye need to do.

Mummyme87 · 10/11/2023 13:07

thats a real pain about the ceiling and now delaying other works. The joys of renovating@LittleAlien24

Salamander91 · 10/11/2023 16:06

I decided to wrap all of the kids Christmas presents today before I got too big to do it. Turns out I already am 😅my back and pelvis are killing me now but at least it's done.

Mummyme87 · 10/11/2023 18:04

@Salamander91 as much as I love present wrapping, jeepers it’s hard work even without having a massive bump. I always leave it really late aswell, like to have everything before I start wrapping 😬😬

pram wise, definitely going with UPPAbaby Cruz and I’ve been scouring the internet for best price, and today a few places including John Lewis seem to have dropped the price so think I’ll go for it now

buckingmad · 10/11/2023 18:25

Got my hypnobirthing course tomorrow. Really looking forward to having a bit of a baby centred day with DH. We were just saying the other day how compared to with DD we kinda forget I’m pregnant and going to have a baby, we’re just trying to make it through each day with a toddler that has discovered tantrums and animals that try their hardest to kill themselves on a daily basis.

Could really do with a day to blitz the house but that’s going to have to wait till next week!
