Excuse my TMI but is anyone else having a bother with haemorrhoids , I had one day of constipation a month ago and none since and it’s just not going away

chlo299 · 15/12/2023 13:27

@Hopefulfirstround yeah I've had issues there and there before pregnancy but now constantly every trip is painful 😣

XenaTheWarriorPrincess · 15/12/2023 17:30

Yep @Hopefulfirstround been constipated since the start with accompanying piles. Mine aren't too bad, but there are creams you can use

I’ve got a consultant appointment on Wednesday about delivery options. My first was the most amazing water birth (very quick (3bours from first twinge and got to hospital I was 10cm) but unfortunately I did have a bad 3rd degree tear. Which required surgery straight after. Therefore this time I have options such as an elective c section or elective/ controlled episiotomy during birth. I do have concerns with how quick it may be if I do go for another natural delivery this time and if I would even get to hospital in time! So I’m really stuck between options! Any one with advice or experience on these , your input would be welcome!! :) any questions I should be asking?

sugarplum33 · 16/12/2023 09:54

@sweetdreams23 What are your feelings? Have they discussed the risk of you tearing so severely again? Second births often tend to be quicker and some women who birth very quickly opt to plan a home birth so that they don't end up with an unplanned one. If this isn't an option for you and you'd be safer in hospital then I'd be asking about being induced so that things are a bit more controlled and you're in hospital when everything starts. I had a really positive c-section experience and I'm opting for this again but this would be a completely different experience to your water birth. Also c-section recovery brings its own challenges which need to be weighed up. It's obviously very personal to you and what you would feel most comfortable with.

Ttcmumma · 16/12/2023 10:18

@sweetdreams23 I had an episiotomy with my son, more of an emergency thing as they lost his heartbeat after an hour of me pushing (his cord was round his neck twice we eventually found out!)

I'd prefer an episiotomy than the risk of tearing. They number me down there to make the cut, I then didn't feel the ring of fire, actually I didn't know he was coming out until they told me to see his hair lol and I couldn't feel them stitching it back up after either. It took them a while to stitch it up but I was fine! Blood loss was controlled. It was quite sore down there for about a week, needed to sleep with something cold in my undies but gave birth on Sunday and was driving again the following Sunday

sweetdreams23 · 16/12/2023 10:22

@sugarplum33 thanks for your reply! That’s really helpful and glad you had a positive experience of a c section I will raise the idea of a planned induction ans hadn’t thought of that and see what they say about that. I am completely open to a planned c section as I know I am likely to tear again and also I kind of had my perfect birth with my daughter (bar the tearing!!) so happy to have a different experience. I do have concerns about recovery time, but also nervous that if I do decide on a c section o may go into labour before the c section as I had my daughter at 39 weeks. What week do they usually offer or do you know? Something I will raise in the meeting for sure. I wouldn’t be allowed to have a home birth I don’t think due to large blood loss, retained placenta and the tear last time (joys of child birth!!)

sweetdreams23 · 16/12/2023 10:26

@Ttcmumma thank you. As my daughter came so quick and it was in the water I wasn’t offered this but my midwife this time round says that my previous birth did sound a bit like a recipe for a tear and she’s surprised they didn’t get me out the pool to do this! Sounds like an episiotomy is a better option than tearing. Thank you for sharing

Will discuss how it could be more controlled this time with the consultant if I do go for normal delivery

janfebmarchapril · 17/12/2023 17:56

My friend had a really bad tear with her first, she really didn't want a c section but was advised so had one. I saw her yesterday and she had the baby on Tuesday. Omg. She's incredible. Was sat on the floor (there were other chairs we didn't make her sit on the floor 🙈) , was up and down, said it was the best decision she made. Hasnt taken painkillers in days Makes me feel way better about my planned one as I had technically an emg one last time but they have to say emg as it was unplanned as i started the induction process and I really struggled with the recovery. Was so nice seeing someone do so well after having one!

I hope everyone's well. I haven't been on the thread for a while but keeping in touch through the fb page.

24 weeks now and feeling pregnant. Getting uncomfortable to toss and turn in bed!

Petris123 · 20/12/2023 00:12

Has anyone had their sickness/vomit go away and then coming back around week 20/21?
I'm 21 weeks now, I've been feeling fine for a few weeks until a few days ago when I felt sick again more and more, and then this evening I vomited. I've googled it but I don't know how normal it is, anyone else has had this? Not sure what to think.
I'm getting my pressure checked on Saturday cause I had a couple of nose bleeds, can it be related?
Thank you!

1994jk · 20/12/2023 08:44

@Petris123 I only had slight nausea in the 1st trimester and it was mainly whilst brushing my teeth and yes recently I have had this again but seems to have gone again now. I'm 21 weeks.

1994jk · 20/12/2023 08:48

Can anyone help clear this up for me... I am 21 weeks and think I have just started to feel baby move, I have an anterior placenta and think I may have skipped the "flutters" stage and now I can feel little taps from the inside which I guess are little kicks. Does anyone know if we should be looking out for reduced movement at this stage? Or would that be quite normal anyway up until 24 weeks? The Tommy's website is confusing in that it says 'what to do if you notice reduced movements' and for the 'up to 24 weeks' section it just says to let your midwife know if you have not felt movement by 24 weeks, nothing about reduced movement? Yesterday I didn't feel as much as the day before so just want to know if I need to speak to anyone or not.

Mrsttcno1 · 20/12/2023 09:56

@1994jk I was given a leaflet with info like this by my midwife and basically the nhs guidance is that you should let them know if you haven’t felt movement by 24/25 weeks, and from 25 weeks onwards you should be “keeping track” of movements, they have a “kicks count” campaign (not sure if this is just a thing in my area🤷🏻‍♀️) but essentially means from 25 weeks keep track of when you feel baby move, times of day, how much movement you feel, and if then you have a day of less movement you report that as reduced movements. It’s not classed as “reduced movements” before 24/25 weeks because up to that point their guidance is that it can actually be completely normal to have a quiet day due to their size etc! Xx

Amf2508 · 20/12/2023 10:12

@1994jk I have been feeling movements since about 18 weeks starting as flutters, but only from about 22/23 weeks I felt regular strong movements. It is still common to have quiet days when you begin to feel movements as it can depend on babies position... I know personally I had a couple of quieter days around the 20/21 week mark, I had to sit still to feel movements as he had changed position. They were much lighter and I assume he was kicking inwards rather than out (the kicks themselves felt different) ...Now at 24+5 I feel them strongly and very regularly. However he has still not really got a pattern, I believe that comes a bit later!

ASGIRC · 20/12/2023 17:21

@Amf2508 yeah, Im about the same time as you and I still have the odd quiet day. Doc yesterday said the baby has LOADS of amniotic fluid around her, so its pretty normal to have different days.
Today, however, she has been kicking my cervix like no ones business! Ive jumped quite a few times!!!

The guidance where I am is to kick count only from 28 weeks. Or at least I havent been told to start kick counting yet and had an appt yesterday with the high risk unit, and they would on the ball with that!

SummerOak · 20/12/2023 20:41

@ASGIRC are you going to be using some kind of app for kick counting or just writing it down somewhere?

I'm going to be 24 weeks on Friday and I still have some quieter days, especially if I'm very busy during the day. I'm not worrying as I always feel a couple of kicks when going to bed.

sweetdreams23 · 20/12/2023 20:57

Funny how different areas are as my trust discourages actually counting kicks and focuses more on just getting to know your baby’s patterns of movement as they say every baby is so different.

would be easier if everywhere stuck to the same guidance!

with my previous pregnancy I did go in at 38 weeks with reduced movement (turned out fine) but once I noticed it was reduced there are things you can try before ringing such as laying on a certain side, drinking something cold, touching your belly for response, shining a light at your belly my daughter would really respond to light. Think they say keep an eye on it for a couple of hours. Though that was further on when movement was much more constant so it was more obvious that there was a change. I would say always trust your gut

Ttcmumma · 20/12/2023 20:59

@sweetdreams23 I'm glad you said this as I don't think I was ever told to count kicks with my son and if I was, I never did it 😳 he was a fidget though so I feel I would have picked up on reduced movements in general. This bubs is pretty active too but I'm sure they just say to monitor for changes in pattern/activity rather than kick counts x

ASGIRC · 20/12/2023 22:22

@SummerOak I haven't really thought about it... There's a space to write it down on my pregnancy book, but again, no one has spoken to me about it yet!!!

@sweetdreams23 my baby absolutely does not care about sweet things or cold things, or me touching my belly.
I haven't ever tried light, so might give that a go! 😂
Otherwise she is unbothered by anything I do, and moves around at her own pace!!

Yesterday was a very quiet day. Today she has absolutely kicked the shit out of me, particularly in my cervix! It has been thoroughly unpleasant 😂😂

SummerOak · 26/12/2023 09:41

Hi everyone, hope you all enjoyed some good festive fun these past few days.
I got a cold, mostly sore throat and runny nose, I'm not sure if we can take strepsils while pregnant. On the boxes it says to speak to a GP first, but while researching it it says it's safe. I have a midwife appointment on Thursday so I'm planning to ask her, but just wondered if anyone here knows or took them already while sick.

Ttcmumma · 26/12/2023 09:48

@SummerOak I've always been told no and no lemsip. Just lots of water and salt water gargles/ hot herbal teas for the throat

SummerOak · 26/12/2023 10:13

Thanks @Ttcmumma I'll just skip them and stick with tea and lemon. Haven't tried salt water gargles, so I'll give it a go.

Stick some honey in it as well, as it is also soothing for the throat!

MumDaisy1980 · 26/12/2023 21:50

hows everyone baby movement?

just that recently I would feel one side poking out a lot. Then calm down. then maybe move to lower abdominal and poked out. Then gone back in. Then sometimes as poke out as close to my stomach. And when press on the poked out part is harder than other parts.

I just wonder if it’s pretty common. I don’t feel pain or anything so won’t take it as any emergency needs.

It’s my first pregnancy so still exploring what’s all about!!

thsnks!!
