My boss in work said that you choose the kind of pregnancy you want

This was in relation to a conversation about morning sickness. I am really struggling at the minute with all day nausea and vomiting 4-5 times a day.

I just think silly me for choosing this sickly looking like death surviving on jacobs cream crackers pregnancy when I could have chosen the glowy mother nature eating kale type pregnancy.

Obviously the last paragraph is a joke... I want to vomit on her, see how she feels then. She's had 3 children too! You'd think would be a bit more understanding!

What kind of pregnancy did you choose?

She sounds thick!

sleepymama3 · 13/10/2023 18:09

I chose to pause the vomiting for the second trimester. This meant I could really enjoy it again in the third.

What an idiot.

MargotBamborough · 13/10/2023 18:10

Your boss is an idiot.

Beginningless · 13/10/2023 18:11

What an arsehole! I was fortunate to get away with only the all day nausea and didn’t vomit that much. I obviously decided harder not to puke than you.

DramaAlpaca · 13/10/2023 18:11

You have my sympathy. I have three children and chose pregnancies like yours, OP!

Your boss is a daft, unsympathetic mare. Try puking on her shoes Wink

Spendonsend · 13/10/2023 18:11

I chose gestational diabetes and pelvic girdle pain. I opted out of morning sickness because I am clearly just good at choices.

Borka · 13/10/2023 18:12

I wish I'd known that I could have chosen not to have antenatal depression. Your boss sounds awful.

BoohooWoohoo · 13/10/2023 18:12

What an idiot. 🤦🏻‍♀️

tenbob · 13/10/2023 18:13

I kept choosing pregnancies that didn’t last very long and ended with awful and traumatic miscarriages

And when I got bored of those, I chose ones that made me so sick I had to stay on strong steroids and medication for the first and second trimesters.

Silly old me!

needtonamechangeagain · 13/10/2023 18:14

What a cow.. she's in the "who needs HRT" camp.. I sailed through don't understand the drama.

Women like that honestly drive me spare.

I admire you oh wise one to "only" choose all day nausea.

I'm actually finding the nausea the worst bit! In my last pregnancy I was sick, felt a bit better and was able to get on with my day. This one is practically unbearable :(

Why would you need HRT when you can just will an easy menopausal journey into existence?

I work in health care and think the tip of the ice berg is acknowledged when it comes to the menopause. It has a HUGE psychological effect nevermind the physical symptoms.

I don't really understand what she means.

Can you explain a bit more OP?

Some people are just gluttons for punishment I guess!

Honestly, sorry for your losses. Its something I've been fortunate enough to not have gone through and I can't imagine the pain you must have went through.

She clearly had easy, picture-perfect pregnancies. I lost 2 babies shortly after birth, so for my third pregnancy, I chose to be extremely anxious and afraid for the whole 38 weeks. I also chose to develop pelvic girdle pain and l severe sciatica so that I couldn't work from 23 weeks pregnant. I should have chosen better!

FloofCloud · 13/10/2023 18:49

What a dick!
Just make a note of what she's said,
In case you need to take anything else further - write what she said, context and when she said it
Good luck with your pregnancy and don't pay any attention to her bollocks

Scottishskifun · 13/10/2023 18:51

Your boss is a tit!

Sounds like she would tell me that having gestational diabetes with DS2 was my fault when I had a BMI of 22 and fit and healthy and couldn't stomach anything sweet so actually ate kale rather a lot!

Personally I would vomit over her desk and phone....

Myneighboursarewankers · 13/10/2023 18:54

I chose 3 pregnancies worth of hypremisis 🤷‍♀️ vomiting 40 times a day for 6 months per pregnancy just sounded like a dream 🙃

readingismycardio · 13/10/2023 18:54

What a shithead!

Cowlover89 · 13/10/2023 18:54

What an arsehole

Aozora13 · 13/10/2023 18:58

I chose nausea for the first 20 and last 10 weeks. I chose not to glow in my 2nd trimester, because who can be arsed with energy and radiance? I chose trips to the EPU, growth scans and utis because I basically love attention. I also chose to give birth after <90 mins active labour because anything longer than that is just overkill.

What a knob.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 13/10/2023 18:58

I choose to vomit morning moon and night. Then I choose for DD to eject out of the emergency hatch at 33weeks and be in NICO for a month. So so silly

Apart from echoing everyone's comments about what an unsympathetic moron your boss is - @FloofCloud 's advice is worth heeding. Hopefully unnecessary - but I'd do that just in case

I hope your horrible symptoms get easier soon x

minipie · 13/10/2023 18:59

Sounds like the senior woman at work who when I mentioned my 2 kids were dreadful sleepers said “Oh I couldn’t cope with lack of sleep, so we had a routine”.

If only I’d thought to try that!

<stabby motions>

Choconuttolata · 13/10/2023 19:01

Yes clearly I chose to spend two months in hospital, away from my two young children when I had a major bleed and nearly delivered at 26 weeks. How stupid of me to choose a placenta that grew out of my uterus.

She is ridiculous. Hope the morning sickness phase passes quickly for you OP, it is very debilitating.
