My boss in work said that you choose the kind of pregnancy you want

This was in relation to a conversation about morning sickness. I am really struggling at the minute with all day nausea and vomiting 4-5 times a day.

I just think silly me for choosing this sickly looking like death surviving on jacobs cream crackers pregnancy when I could have chosen the glowy mother nature eating kale type pregnancy.

Obviously the last paragraph is a joke... I want to vomit on her, see how she feels then. She's had 3 children too! You'd think would be a bit more understanding!

What kind of pregnancy did you choose?

I sure as hell didn't opt in to HG night and day and hospitalisation.

I sure as hell didn't opt in to periods at 8, PMDD all my life and the menopause from hell.

OP, your boss must have been educated at the same institution as the female gynae I saw for HRT who told me older women only wanted it to remain attractive to younger men. And that the menopause symptoms I'd been having for 2 years would stop in a few months as menopause only lasts two years.

5 years later I'm still having awful symptoms if I can't get HRT.

I didn't opt in to that, either.

Your boss is an idiot who just got lucky with her hormones. Don't try to make it to the loo next time you feel sick, OP. Or the time after that. I don't think that will give her an ounce of empathy or the understanding that we're not all clones but it might give you some satisfaction at getting your point across.

I chose the 'hypertension, hyperemesis gravidarum, gestational diabetes and preeclampsia' followed by 'post-section sepsis' pregnancy 😂. Didn't eat properly the whole time as when the vomiting slowed in month six, diabetes started up. God, I wish I could have gone for a glowy, pilates pregnancy. Obviously ticked the wrong box somewhere!

Seriously though, some people have no compassion and no empathy. Also, please speak to your GP if the nausea is bad - HG can be helped greatly with medication. There's a misconception that only vomiting counts but nausea for 5+ hours a day also does - there's a fab website about it (HG awareness or similar).

I'm starting to think she's a reincarnated white male misogynist from the dark ages.

It's a vicious circle. In order to become a manager you have to ape the men in charge. So only women that do get promoted. Then the women below them get treated badly. To prove they are just as shit as the men.

Which is why you need multiple women on boards etc. in order to actually effect change.

I forgot to place my order for pregnancy - but I did request one of those quiet, well sleeping babies hehe

Did anyone choose piles btw? I was tempted…

Yes I'm afraid I opted for that first time round... Very overrated so I opted out second time.

This has triggered me, so angry on your behalf

This reminds me of my old boss. She asked me to stand on a kick step (like a stool) and I said absolutely not no. And she said "you're pregnant, not an invalid"

I'm an attention seeker so I chose an ectopic for my first pregnancy. Then I chose for it to rupture so I could enjoy getting gowned up in the A&E waiting room and rushed to theatre for emergency surgery.
