Hi all, just continuing the previous thread.

@Holdmysunhat I got the seasickness bands you suggested, I think they're great!!

@LondonGirl1992 I've heard of it but not used it myself.

Holdmysunhat · 23/11/2023 11:07

I used Peanut during my last pregnancy as an NCT alternative (back when NCT was all online) It was great and I'd highly recommend. I made lots of very local friends on it. I don't think it would be too early to join.

Nina7 · 23/11/2023 17:10

I've not heard of it, it sounds like a great idea! thanks 🙂
I don't think it's too early, we're already in the second trimester... A third of it it's done... It's hard to believe it!

Hi I'm pregnant with twins due 15th May, through IVF as a very old mummy lol

junebuglb · 24/11/2023 10:48

Woke up to a surprise this morning… a leaky boob!! First timer over here so this is all new to me. Should I expect this to happen very often from now on, or is this a rogue event that might just happen from time to time? Ahhh it’s a glam life. 😇

TheBirdintheCave · 24/11/2023 11:10

@Geekygirl13 Congrats on your twins, how exciting!

PeppedUp · 24/11/2023 11:10

Congrats @Geekygirl13 and welcome to the chat x

@junebuglb I think it’s common but never experienced it myself. You could buy some reusable breast pads?

TheBirdintheCave · 24/11/2023 11:10

@junebuglb Interesting! I didn't have that in my pregnancy with my son so I've no idea I'm afraid!

PeppedUp · 24/11/2023 11:29

Does anyone else have to do the glucose test? I just got a letter about it today.

I had to do it last time and it came back clear but back then I was called by one of the midwives to explain what was going on rather than just receiving a letter in the post. (It was about some borderline blood results so I’m guessing it’s the same again).

I also received a letter referring me to obstetrics today as well. Again, I had to go through obstetrics last time, and actually enjoyed the extra scans, but it’d be good to know why I’ve been referred this time. Last time was due to low HCG if I recall correctly and they thought baby might have had growth issues but he ended up being over 4kg!

Sa11yCinnamon · 24/11/2023 11:54

@PeppedUp I've got an appointment for the glucose test in mid-February (?!). I'll be 27 weeks and the NHS website says it's normal to test between 24-28 weeks but no one else I know has been booked in this early so I'm a bit confused, I don't have any obvious risk factors.

I also have an appointment with an obstetrics consultant in two weeks and I'm really hoping she scans me, otherwise it's ages til 20 weeks!

LondonGirl1992 · 24/11/2023 12:10

I’ve had weird period style cramps today again- haven’t had them in a few weeks and it always freaks me out! I think it may just be everything stretching down there? I hope anyway!

The 20 week scan feels so far away- I can’t wait to be able to feel the baby move so I know it’s there! Has anyone felt anything yet? A few friends on their second said you feel it much earlier!

venus93 · 24/11/2023 12:22

Hi all, i'm 14 weeks tomorrow and symptoms are on and off which is making me anxious. My 20 week scan is feeling so far away. Did anyone do private ultrasounds just for reassurance and have any recommendations in London for a good place to go for a quick and cheap ultrasound?

venus93 · 24/11/2023 12:24

I was booked for my glucose test at 26 weeks at my booking appointment when i was only 9 weeks so i think thats normal!

TheBirdintheCave · 24/11/2023 12:29

@LondonGirl1992 Yup, since 10 weeks I've had goldfish movements and tickles. Last night (15+3) I had three of what I'd describe as discernible kicks for the first time :)

@PeppedUp Nope, no glucose test required for me as yet.

@venus93 I've been considering it but they're expensive here in Sussex so with Christmas coming up I think we'll just wait until the 20 week one.

I went to Window to the Womb in Chessington (so London adjacent) with my son and they were ok. It was about £90.

junebuglb · 24/11/2023 12:35

@PeppedUp interesting! I’m not sure what is standard practise but wonder could your obs appt just be related to discussing the glucose test following your bloods? Only because I also have a consultant appt and know it’s to discuss the test (I am on metformin for pcos and want to know how this works with gd test). I was kind of shocked at how optional the test seemed to be actually, midwife didn’t push it on me at all at booking appt despite being higher risk!

@LondonGirl1992 if it helps to put your mind at ease I have definitely also been having cramping pains especially over the last few days. I think I have been able to feel some “flutters” when I’m lying very still and only sometimes. But nothing regular/certain. x

PeppedUp · 24/11/2023 13:21

@Sa11yCinnamon mine’s around then too! Not looking forward to it at all - I felt a bit faint at my last blood test so am not looking forward to doing two on an empty stomach. My obstetrics appointment is a week after my 20 week scan but I’m hoping Christmas parties/holidays makes December go quickly.

@LondonGirl1992 I’ve had some cramping too, as well as some stretchy feeling. It’s never been intense or prolonged enough that I’ve been too anxious about it though.

@venus93 I have half been thinking about it as I still don’t know my results for my combined test from the 12 week scan so I thought a scan might be able to put my mind at ease. I know I’m low risk but if I’m at the higher risk end of that I think I’d prefer an extra scan. Also, if I get to hear the heartbeat at the 16 week midwife appointment I’ll be less inclined to get it.

@junebuglb interesting. I’d be quite keen to get out of it if I can unless they suggest Im quite high risk.

Also, very jealous of everyone who is feeling kicks already but also getting hopeful that I’ll start to feel them soon x

SarahBowie · 24/11/2023 15:36

I’m a bit crampy this week too and my ribs are starting to hurt a bit.

For those that have leaky nipples, did you find your nipples are also a bit drier? Mine have been so dry but when I was moisturising this morning I thought one was a bit crusty (gross, sorry) so now I’m wondering if I’ve had a leak between showering and putting my moisturiser on! Or I could just be disgusting :(

Sa11yCinnamon · 24/11/2023 15:51

Thanks @venus93! I assumed it was normal but told a couple of people and they were surprised as they hadn't had it so early. I'd rather get it out the way sooner rather than later anyway.

@PeppedUp yeah I'm not looking forward to it either, no one makes it sound pleasant!

Athena1984 · 24/11/2023 16:01

Is everyone's bump visible? I am 14 wks 5 days, all I have is gas/bloatedness but no bump! 😬

SarahBowie · 24/11/2023 16:12

@Athena1984 I’m showing but my friend who is further along didn’t start showing until she was about 18 weeks so I think everyone’s different :)

Sa11yCinnamon · 24/11/2023 16:15

@Athena1984 I can no longer hold my tummy flat but I wouldn't say it's quite a bump yet... think I just look really bloated. Some clothes are definitely not comfortable any more!

PeppedUp · 24/11/2023 16:20

@Athena1984 not really! Sometimes I think I’ve popped but then it disappears again so I think it’s just bloating. I think my tummy is a bit bigger I just wouldn’t call it a bump (I’m 14+3)

junebuglb · 24/11/2023 17:03

@SarahBowie you are definitely not disgusting! can’t say I have noticed any dryness but it could just be some residue perhaps. It did freak me a little this morning but guessing it’s all just normal. x

SarahBowie · 24/11/2023 17:46

@junebuglb aw thank you lovely! I’ll keep an eye on it, they’ve been so sensitive this week! My friend started leaking early when she was pregnant with her son recently and it started with cracked dry nipples so I feel it might be coming my way.

Toda11 · 24/11/2023 20:39

No leaky breasts but definitely more sensitive and drier!
