Hi all, just continuing the previous thread.

@Holdmysunhat I got the seasickness bands you suggested, I think they're great!!

@LondonGirl1992 I'm glad your scan went well! Sorry about the bloods though :( Being a pin cushion is no fun.

I actually didn’t mind as they managed in the end! 🤣

Anyone else’s DD may 19th?

SarahBowie · 03/11/2023 12:00

@LondonGirl1992 Oh no I didn’t realise they took more bloods at the scan appointment! I suppose I naively assumed they’d taken all the blood they needed at the 10 week midwife appointment because it was so much :(

I’ve got two huge bruises on my arm from my 10 week appointment so don’t think they’ll be getting in there! Was it difficult getting from your hand?

I’m really difficult to get blood from for various reasons, thought it might improve in pregnancy due to all this extra blood we’re meant to have but apparently not! My midwife put a note about it on my badger notes 🙈

TheBirdintheCave · 03/11/2023 12:11

@SarahBowie Can they use the opposite arm. I tend to switch from side to side.

Sa11yCinnamon · 03/11/2023 12:27

@LondonGirl1992 I'm so glad there's no sign of your bleed, that must be such a relief!

They take bloods if you opt in for the screening- for Downs syndrome etc… they also took more to get my blood group on file.

I am the exact same- always a nightmare to get blood from. The hand was easy, so perhaps suggest that if you’re nervous? They managed that on the first attempt and the bruise is small compared to the ones I’ve been left with on my arms!

If you’re nervous, you can always request a more experienced nurse come and do it because of the troubles you had- as that’s ultimately what they did for me!

SarahBowie · 03/11/2023 12:36

@LondonGirl1992 yes I’ve opted for the screening, my midwife just never mentioned anything about bloods at the 12 week scan so thought she’d taken what she needed at my appointment last week as she said she won’t need more for a while and it seemed a lot because it is.

As long as they’re able to get what they need I don’t mind who does it :) I’ll bring something to drink with me though and a little snack in case I’m dizzy for the drive home!

Twinkles18 · 03/11/2023 17:14

Had my scan today and baby was perfect, little dancer wriggling away lol!

@LondonGirl1992 im due on 19th May too 🥰

TheBirdintheCave · 03/11/2023 17:34

@Twinkles18 Congratulations!

Sophie721 · 03/11/2023 18:59

My little one was perfect today - due 18th May ❤️
Nervously awaiting blood results now - if anyone has received theirs, how long did they take?

Holdmysunhat · 03/11/2023 19:07

My bloods took exactly a week to arrive @Sophie721 Both in the post and on my app

Twdfn123 · 03/11/2023 19:30

Had my scan today, measuring ahead at 12+3 and due 14th May :)

Any guesses on gender? 😍

MrsSnow95 · 03/11/2023 20:18

Me too!

Rose5555 · 03/11/2023 20:23

Congratulations @Twinkles18 @Sophie721 @Twdfn123 on your happy scans. So lovely to see so much positive news!!
@Twdfn123 i think it’s a girl!! My friend swears by the nub and skull theories and called both of mine correctly. I’m pretty clueless, and a total amateur, but to me it looks like a girl!

To be honest I'd be more than happy with either, but we already have our son so like 1% of me would love a girl that little bit more. But at the end of the day happy and healthy is all that matters.

Thank you, you have given me a little bit of hope hehe 😊 💓 xxx

Rose5555 · 03/11/2023 20:29

I understand exactly what you mean and I felt the same after having my son. As you say, a healthy baby is a complete blessing but you’re allowed to have a little tiny hope for a girl! 💕

Mum2b2024 · 03/11/2023 20:37

Aww congrats everyone :) makes me more excited for mine lol. Nice to hear good news.

Sophie721 · 03/11/2023 20:55

@Holdmysunhat which app are you using? This is my first baby so I’m so useless 😂

Holdmysunhat · 03/11/2023 21:09

@Sophie721 no that’s my fault - I should have explained. My local hospital have an app where you can view PDF versions of letters. The postal service here is unreliable so I tend to use the app

PeppedUp · 04/11/2023 12:10

Hope everyone is doing well. I just had my 12 week scan and all is looking well!

My due date is 21st of May, which is four days ahead of what I would have expected based on ovulation sticks. Not sure if the sticks or the scan were inaccurate - I’m guessing the sticks?!

Anyway, it’s a big relief as my anxiety was through the roof for the last couple of days - I was feeling certain that there was going to be something wrong and felt preemptively depressed about it. Good luck to everyone getting scans soon - especially if your anxiety is terrible like mine xxx

Any advice on how to deal with the irratability? Every single person is getting on my tits, went to aldi before and hated everyone 😄 shouted at dh. Want everyone to leave me alone. Turning into a horrible person 🤣

Thank God it's not just me 😂

Nelliepledge · 04/11/2023 18:01

Iv turned into the devil honestly 🙃

Rose5555 · 04/11/2023 21:21

How is everyone’s diet / cravings / general eating? I am completely insatiable. I am eating all the time and even drinking chocolate milk in bed before I go to sleep!!??? What has happened to me. Eating seems to suppress my nausea so I can’t even stop myself because if I’m slightly hungry then I feel more like I’m going to be sick. So I’m just eating everything in sight. With both of my past two pregnancies I had either strong aversions or strong cravings, all quite specific. With this one I am not fussy… I just can’t stop 🫣 is anyone else the same?!

TheBirdintheCave · 05/11/2023 00:25

@PeppedUp Neither are wrong. Your baby is just larger than average, as is mine. I'm measuring three days ahead despite confirming O to the day via temping.

Congrats btw!
