@PurpleSock We use different car seats in each car 😊

Anyone else having a planned c section or had one last time? I'm looking for compression wear recommendations!

glasspaw · 06/01/2024 11:33

We have one seat and two bases. The bit that is a pain to move is the isofix base so we doubled up on that and just move the seat between our two cars depending on which of us is with the little one for the day.

HKS90 · 06/01/2024 11:37

@LeopardLover I’m having a planned c section and hadn’t even thought about compression wear so I’m glad you’ve posted this!

Allaboard209 · 06/01/2024 13:43

@LeopardLover by compression wear do you mean the stockings for after the c section or something else?

LeopardLover · 06/01/2024 13:51

@Allaboard209 Sorry, a wrap or girdle etc 😊

Hiddenvoice · 06/01/2024 13:56

@LeopardLover@HKS90
I had a planned c section and was advised by my midwife not to buy compression socks. She said the hospital will provide me with some if they felt I needed them. I’d double check with your midwife if they advise them!
With the 10 days worth of injections and short walks everyday, then you shouldn’t really need them. I was told to try get up and about as soon as possible, just short little walks to help with any swelling but there was none.

If it’s compression wear then I’d avoid for the first couple of weeks as you’ll be very tender and may not want to be wrapped in anything.
I eventually bought compression leggings from Jojo mamanbee but by the time I felt comfortable enough to try them, it was actually too tight and caused more pain.

LeopardLover · 06/01/2024 13:59

@Hiddenvoice Oh interesting! I actually had a spinal block last time as I was prepped for a c section just in case and had to wear compression socks (& bought more as they were constantly in the wash). But this time I'm more concerned about diastasis recti and healing! I've been trying to do lots of c section recovery prep so I know what to buy etc. X

LeopardLover · 06/01/2024 14:01

@Hiddenvoice Just saw your edited message, thank you! Can I ask how long it took before you were changing nappies? Appreciate everyone is different but a friend freaked me out by saying 6 weeks!

Hiddenvoice · 06/01/2024 14:25

@LeopardLover I might have worn socks for the surgery itself but I didn’t have them on whilst I was in bed and when I got up and about I was just wearing slippers.

I was changing nappies the day my dd was born 😂 my dh wasn’t able to stay the night so it was all on me. I was told that the heaviest thing I could lift was my baby and to get moving around and lifting her as soon as I felt comfortable too. I’m having another c section and my midwife has said to just try carry on as normal as I know my toddler will want me to cuddle and hold her too.
Everyone is different but I just followed advice from the hospital to up my small walks by 5 mins each day and to do their physio exercises. I was back driving before 6 weeks as I felt able to do so and by 4 weeks felt more or less back to normal.

LeopardLover · 06/01/2024 14:29

@Hiddenvoice Thank you so much! I had visions of being glued to my bed. I have a very busy toddler too and I don't do well with resting so I'm keen to become mobile ASAP (being sensible obviously)and I don't have the luxury of my husband taking 6 weeks off work 🙈

PurpleSock · 08/01/2024 21:33

Different carseats sounds like the most sensible option then! Now to check the pebble 360 Pro is compatible with the pram...😂

I'm also starting to think about my hospital bag and discovered "peri bottles" which are a revelation to me!
Does anyone have any good tips/suggestions? I know big pants are obviously recommended, any specific types anyone can link to that are good?

Puddle13 · 08/01/2024 21:52

@PurpleSock yes I would love hospital bag suggestions. I was suggested by a friend to just forget the big pants and pants and just get adult diapers. She much preferred it as she felt very bulky with the big pants and pad.

These were the ones she suggested:

Always Discreet Boutique Incontinence Pants Women, Medium, Plus, 9 High Absorbency Pants, Odour Neutraliser, Dress Size 10-16, For Sensitive Bladder https://amzn.eu/d/9qhpQON

Psmama22 · 12/01/2024 11:48

2nd time mama here! I much preferred the Frida Mom disposable pants, a lot more stretchy. I found the always discreet ones too tight and weren’t high waisted enough to feel secure. My hospital bag essentials would be a really long phone charger, a fan (one of those ones with the bendy arms you can stick to tables etc), a bottle of Evian face mist (so refreshing).

LeopardLover · 12/01/2024 16:50

I really loved the Always Discreet pants last time and found them really comfy, but I'm going with the high waisted Frida Mom pants this time due to having a planned c section!

PurpleSock · 13/01/2024 09:56

Thanks for the hospital bag & disposable pants advice, I think I make get a pack of always discreet & a pack of frida mom and go with whichever feels best at the time!

Has anyone used a Snuza breathing monitor before? We've been looking at these and trying to decide between the Hero & the Pico

Psmama22 · 15/01/2024 11:18

@PurpleSock yes! We used the Snuza for our first and plan to use it for our second. Gave us such peace of mind in the first few months and really helped me have a good night sleep. Started to get a few false alarms once we started rolling which was terrifying, but must say it was a great gadget for peace of mind overall

PurpleSock · 21/01/2024 12:52

How is everyone doing? I've really started to feel "very pregnant" the last week or so, constantly tired and mildly uncomfortable, really starting to get close now 😁

Allaboard209 · 21/01/2024 13:21

@PurpleSock same! have got a birthing ball to sit on at home helps a bit! We started putting up some nursery furniture today, flat pack is not for the faint hearted lol! Feels like the weeks are going quicker now too :)

Busylizzie85 · 21/01/2024 15:07

Definitely feels like the weeks are flying by! Feel so heavy now, had my growth scan on Thursday and I got a bit worried as some measurements are way bigger then they should be ☹️
Awaiting a consultant appointment on Friday to review the results mainly as they could not see if placenta had moved up or not as baby's head was in the way. There was talk of another GD test which I would rather not go through again.

LeopardLover · 21/01/2024 15:11

@Busylizzie85 Oh sorry, this sounds stressful 😔 hopefully the appointment on Friday goes well and it's not as concerning as first thought!

Is your placenta potentially covering your cervix? I have a low placenta so I have a growth scan booked in for 36 weeks!

Thwam · 21/01/2024 15:11

Sorry about your scan @Busylizzie85 . Hopefully the consultant appointment is helpful. I have also started to feel very pregnant over the last week! Definitely more short of breath and feeling a lot bigger. Maybe time to start slowing down a bit, but we haven’t done anything in the nursery yet and are decorating our room too!

LeopardLover · 21/01/2024 15:14

@PurpleSock I feel sooo pregnant too - especially running around after / carrying a crazy toddler. 🙈

I remember hearing good things about the Snuza, but a lot of review do say it often causes more anxiety. We decided against one in the end but I understand the interest!

I might get the crib down from the loft soon 🥰

Aquarius93 · 21/01/2024 15:28

Another one feeling very pregnant here! Also getting very uncomfortable at times with baby’s movements - judging by where I feel the movements, he seems to be flipping between breech and head down!

I haven’t done anything to prepare for the new baby yet. We’ve been trying to sell our house so we’re not decorating a nursery. We will just need to get the bedside crib down from the loft soon!

I’ve also had a family bereavement recently so haven’t been in the best place. That with selling house stress, pregnancy insomnia and having to keep up with a toddler has left me generally exhausted and overwhelmed! I have 5 more weeks of work before maternity leave so hopefully will be able to slow down then.

Busylizzie85 · 21/01/2024 16:12

@LeopardLover it's borderline covering I think it's right on the edge but close enough to cause issues if I deliver naturally. I am also meant to have another scan at 36 weeks to check further but it hasn't come up on badger notes yet.

LeopardLover · 21/01/2024 17:11

@Busylizzie85 Oh I really hope it moves up more for you - fingers crossed. I've never been able to access Badger Notes 😅 will you get to a letter too?
